DESCRIPTION |
War comes at a cost and for many that cost is their very lives. In other cases, individuals are left maimed or grievously injured with survival often falling to the seconds that it can take to receive medical care. To ensure that the soldiers of the Galactic Alliance receive the much-needed care to either return them to the front or ensure they have a relatively comfortable life after their service was the purpose of the Bacta-class Medical Frigate. Designed and equipped with multiple medical systems and facilities, the vessel is known to have up to thirty Bacta Tanks operated by 2-1B Surgical Droids as well as a medical computer that further monitors and times treatments as required. This central facility was surrounded by intensive care units, operating theaters, and recovery wards as well as the quarters for the medical staff. The increased focus on the medical capabilities as well as ensuring an ample hangar capacity for support craft required the removal of all weapon systems present in the original design, thus rendering the vessel unarmed. Likewise, as its focus is on the support of medical shuttles and other support craft, it lacks the means and ability to support and deploy Starfighter or Bomber squadrons, forcing it to rely on dedicated carriers or a provided escort for assistance. Furthermore, the addition of reinforced hull plating and further defensive systems has resulted in a noted loss of speed and maneuverability. Ensuring that both the soldiers and the people of the Galactic Alliance have the medical care they require, even more so after the recent Invasion that struck half a dozen Alliance worlds is a priority. The Bacta-class Medical Frigate is the answer to that need, and as more of these vessels slip forth from their moorings in Shipyards across the Galactic Alliance, they are poised to provide that aid. They may not be the first vessels to arrive in a conflict zone, they will, however, be the last to leave those areas, only doing so when the last patient has been cared for. |
