Strengths:
- Reliable: The Nebulon A frigate was a reliable vessel despite its age. Able to fight toe to toe with other frigates and small cruisers what it lacked in speed it made up for in utility.
- Firepower: A collection of powerful weapons made the Bador-Type a fearsome foe for smaller vessels. Its powerful tractor beams also made it a nuisance for pirates and smugglers.
- Spar: Though armored from certain angles, the large spar that connected the engines to the rest of the ship if broken would vent large portions of the vessel, causing catastrophic destruction.
- Slow: Slow to turn and slow to move forward, the Bador-Type was more like a lumbering rancor than a nimble sand cat.
Some time after the formation of the Corellian Confederation, the Corellian Defense Force began utilizing these cheap vessels to patrol various sectors of their space, including Socorro's Belt. These locations were often places that were important enough to defend but small enough to not require the presence of a Star Defender, Battlecruiser, or large task force of their own. They carried with them a modest complement of starfighters, with enough hangar space for two squadrons and space for . It was one of the few vessels in the Corellian fleet that could be loaded vertically into the hangars of the Colony II-class battlecruiser.
