Description: The Bahamut-class Assault Walker (AT-HA all terrain heavy assault) is the pinnacle of Imperial walker design. It is a walking warship for all practical proposes. Its massive body is made of thirty three centimeter thick Quadranium Steel and is shielded with corvette strength shielding.
The massive form of the Bahamut-class is far to large to be deployed from any type of drop ship and much be deployed from assault ships after they have landed. The walker has a series of repulsors which aid in deploying it. Once the massive body has cleared the assault ship it legs descend then it operated under their power for movement. After deployment the repusors are then tasked with keeping the walker upright. They operate in tandom witht he walkers legs and advanced gyroscopic stabilizers to keep the walker from falling over in battle.
The production cost of the Bahamut-class makes it far too expensive to be deployed except in the most important major operations. These monsters cost as much as cruiser to build and operate in battle. The limited supply of these mobile fortresses also means that no more than three will be deployed to any single engagement. The cost is just too high to have more of these in one place at one time.
The Walker has one job, to destroy everything in its path. With a weapon load out built around assault, it will stand and pound enemy lines and bunkers while smaller assault walkers and armored vehicles move in to assist and clean up what is left.
The Bahamut-class walker carries a full company of assault troops as well as four light walkers for support. Troops are deployed but drop chutes rather than ropes as the drop is much too far. Six chutes are lowered that use a small repulsor field to slow the troops as they drop from the lower access hatch of the Bahamut.
