The Baldr-class troop transport is a limited-use transport designed for small commando teams and extended missions, more of a mobile base than any kind of particular warship. Fast and lightly armed with a permanent assigned crew to free up the assigned commando team and not require it to have a dedicated pilot on the team. In this way, a fully-operating commando team can use the vessel as a headquarters for their extended covert operations. It has comfortable conference and briefing quarters, an armory for weapons and equipment maintenance, a medbay for between missions and full passenger bunks in order to give the troops and any added passengers somewhere to stay. It also comes equipped with speeder bikes for rapid deployment on missions.

While not as fast as any fighter craft, it's certainly fast enough to get its troops in and out of situations, typically deploying onto a surface and staying in a spaceport or remote, semi-secure location and staying in position until the mission's completion. While not a direct combat craft, it can certainly hold its own as need be.
