-Military Base Name: Balmorran System Command
-Classification: Galactic Alliance Defense Force Base & Strategic Command Center
-Affiliation: The Galactic Alliance
-Population:
- Army Personnel: HEAVY
- Navy Personnel: HEAVY
- Intelligence Personnel: MODERATE
- Civilians: SPARSE
-Demographics: The Galactic Alliance Defense Force is indiscriminate in the enlistment of citizens of the Alliance, however as the Core has been ravaged by speciesism and dominated by human and near-human species for generations, the overall demographic makeup of the military reflects that. Regardless, the demographic makeup of the GADF is reflective of the population of the Alliance as a whole.
-Description: The Balmorran System Command base is built into the side of the Gorinth Mountains on the foundations of Base 11A, an ancient Republic military base that fell into disrepair over the centuries. The base itself is elevated with few, very heavily guarded paths up the mountain. Most traffic in and out of the base is ferried through GADF transports. Dotted around the massive fortress structure are a number of landing pads that too accommodate the number of ships.
The base itself is protected by powerful planetary shields that can withstand prolonged orbital bombardment. In addition, dotted around the perimeter of the base are anti-aerial rail guns, turbolasers, and planetary ion cannons that could be used to repel invading forces.
POINTS OF INTEREST
- Balmorran System High Command
- The central structure within the military base is located in one of the primary structures that towers over the largest exterior landing bay. The room is dominated by a strategic holoprojector to allow the commanding officers of the Balmorran System to plan out and visualize military formations and engagements. The room is restricted to high ranking officers, politicians, and intelligence personnel who monitor reports from Coruscant and other areas of the Alliance territory.

SECURITY
-High Security: The base itself is primarily protected by a planetary shield that can withstand prolonged orbital bombardment. Most of the base's planetary security is afforded to it by the remote and treacherous location of the base. Ground paths to the base are limited and heavily guarded by turrets and patrols limiting most people to aerial approach. The skies of the Gorinth region are constantly patrolled by fighters and monitored by intelligence specialists, giving the Alliance near-complete control over traffic in the area. When all else fails, along with the mountain range there are anti-aerial railguns and planetary cannons to deter hostile forces from assaulting the base.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Previously known as Base 11A during the era of the Galactic Republic, prior to its transition to the first Galactic Empire, this small military inspiration has changed hanged in the ensuing centuries as control of the Core has shifted. Though it has enjoyed near-perpetual occupancy, by the time the Galactic Alliance came to Balmorra the base was in a serious state of disrepair and in desperate need of restorative efforts. As the Alliance grew to be a formidable force in the galaxy, the Senate agreed to undertake a number of infrastructural development programs to fortify their member planets and stimulate local economic growth. The GADF had been working for a period of time to restore and rebuild the base but lacked key funding to complete the task. However, the Committee for Galactic Infrastructure worked the revitalization of the base into their legislative proposals to secure sufficient funding to bring the base back into full operation.
Balmorra's strategic position and historic role as a military powerhouse in the Core was key in the decision to designate the newly restored base as a strategic command center along the southeastern border of the Alliance. Military, naval, and intelligence assets were quickly gathered and sent to populate the base and local citizens were also given the opportunity to work on the base in a civilian capacity.
