Several hundred years ago, Clan Carid Alor Baltan Carid had a powerful weapon constructed out of beskar. Due to his size and strength, the Mando'ade wanted a weapon befitting the leader of the clan, and to have it handed down as a sign of position and to intimidate enemies on the battlefield. Commissioning skilled Mandalorian blacksmiths, they used a pure form of beskar to maximize the durability and weight of the weapon, allowing it to add as much force to each swing as possible, for increased chopping and penetration damage. Additionally, the blacksmiths ensured to apply a deadly mono-molecular edge, to allow a vast improvement on cutting/chopping ability.
Because of the size of the weapon, the blacksmiths included a basic rotating-servo system, which allowed the poleaxe to almost halve its size, as well as retracting the axe-heads. The benefit was a smaller - but still the same density - baton-like state, which was around three-and-a-half feet long. As a result, it could be strapped to a back, or a belt of a tall individual, allowing for easier carrying. The final addition was a fuel and ignition system, which allowed the flammable substance to coat the axe-heads with a button press, before it was lit aflame; but due to the limited space of the handle, and beskar being prone to overheating, they installed a fail-safe that limited usage in battle, to act as a default against battle-raged Alor wanting to continually light the weapon aflame - effectively saving them from themselves, and avoiding the potential for ruining such a fine weapon. The last stage of construction was adding decoration, gorgodon leather straps over the beskar handle, and a large dense pommel for balance and additional attack options.
Since then, it has served as a symbol for Clan Carid, both displaying the superior craftsmanship of Mandalorian blacksmiths and a symbol of the Clan on the battlefield.
Strengths:
- Sharp & Heavy: The poleaxe is a large, heavy weapon, that requires above-average physical strength to wield it effectively. It stands at around six foot inclusive, and weighs around five kilograms. Due to the mono-molecular edge, and the highly durable metal used, it has a capacity to slice into anything short of light vehicle armor plating.
- Beskar Metal: The weapon is forged from pure beskar and has gorgodon leather strapping. As a result, it is highly durable, and able to withstand lightsabers, blasterfire and vibro-weapons
- Telescopic Function: Due to rotating servos, the poleaxe is able to be shortened in length - the handle almost halving in size - and the axe blades collapsing inward through perfectly-aligned layered segments, to allow easier carrying out of combat; if in a pinch, this baton-like state can also be used as a short-range blunted weapon
- Bring the Fire: Within the handle and axe-head, are a series of circuits and fuel lines that allow for a specific handle activation; when used, the weapon releases a small ignitable coating of fuel on the axe-head, which then is lit aflame with a small ignition spark, allowing the poleaxe to be used as a temporary fiery weapon
- Heavy Metal: The dense nature and pure beskar metal compound of the weapon means it is heavy. This means extended use can begin to wear on even the strongest wielders in combat
- Lightning Conductor: The metal is still metal, and the lack of room for any type of electrical resistance means that metal can conduct well
- Heat: The consistent application of blasterfire to a certain point can result in the beskar becoming heated and potentially being damaged
- Fire Is Hot: The flames of the weapon work both ways - they can light opponents and the wielder on fire, if some skill and care isn't taken. Additionally, the flame on the weapon doesn't necessarily make it deadlier, it just allows for certain things - like enemies - to have the additional risk of being lit aflame; also, to avoid damage to the poleaxe itself, and causing damage to the metal, a limited amount of fuel is in the handle (see below) as a default safety for the weapon
- Quick Burn: Because the flames are applied with a thin finite coating of fuel, it rapidly burns out, and only lasts several minutes (not including other sources of extinguishing, such as water)
- Limited Fuel Use: The fuel source within the handle only holds enough liquid for two ignition uses in a single battle; the fuel must be refilled afterward, away from combat
