- Population: Sparse
- Demographics: Mostly Human or Near-Human, though other species may also be present.
- Accessibility: Accessible by roads, this region is considered a national park, although some areas are especially protected and/or blocked off to the public.
- Description: Bamarre is a rocky and largely barren mountainous region of the Chaldean mainland, known for its striking geological attributes. Millions of years of terrain disturbances have created a unique landscape in which layers of multi-colored minerals are exposed either due to tectonic shifts or wind erosion.
- Marble Forest - Chaldean marble is a type of quartz formed from fossilized prehistoric trees. The petrified "wood" was gradually replaced by various minerals as it lay buried over the course of millions of years. At some point the wood (though it had long since ceased to be wood, having been fully replaced by crystal) was unearthed as geological plates shifted in the region - and now the chunks of marble which dot the Bamarre landscape have become a popular tourist attraction. During the monsoon season, if lightning strikes the marble during a storm, it can result in the creation of a Bamarri. Scholars, scientists, and mystics alike are at a loss to explain how this happens, though Force Users have claimed the so-called Marble Forest is a hotspot in the Force (though it is not to be considered a nexus). NB! This area is protected by the Chaldean government. Attempting to remove the marble from this location will land you in a lot of trouble. At least ask the writer for permission first.
- Lakhish - This village on the outskirts of Bamarre is the only civilized settlement for miles and was built inside a massive (1,300-meter/0.8 mile diameter, 174-meter/570-feet deep) meteor crater. It is said to be the site where Ava, a tragic Bamarri character in a local folktale, committed an atrocity shortly before her death.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Bamarre is a region shrouded in mystery. The location plays a prominent role in planetary folklore, and it draws curious onlookers even from offworld, but very little is known about it or the Chaldean marble it is most famous for.
What we do know is that the unique landscape was created by various geological factors over the course of millions of years. Once there were trees, but they were knocked down and buried for millennia, only to be uncovered later as the ground shifted. These prehistoric trees eventually became Chaldean marble, but the Force-related attributes and the nature of the Bamarri which can be created from the marble is much more murky.
In the present, Bamarre is a desert, largely devoid of life. Attempts at altering it or establishing permanent settlements have been prevented in order to preserve the ecosystem, which remains a major tourism draw.
