Prologue
Born to a family of glass artisans in the tranquil city of Visar on Naboo, Banè Zirbils grew up surrounded by beauty and tradition. Her childhood was shaped by the serenity of her homeworld, where the balance between nature and civilization reflected Naboo's deeply held values. Banè's parents were both master craftspeople, known for their exquisite transparisteel etchings and restorations. Though her upbringing emphasized the arts, Banè was more interested in flight. Her fascination began with watching N-1 Starfighters streak across the skies during ceremonial flyovers and grew through endless hours piloting a battered flight simulator her father secretly installed in their workshop, and eventually finding herself under the tutelage of a few skyhopper jockeys - taking part in questionably legal races
Her natural aptitude for flying caught the attention of the Naboo Youth Starfighter Program, where she quickly excelled. Banè's talent for precision flying and her quick thinking in mock combat exercises earned her a scholarship to the Royal Naboo Defense Academy. There, she graduated with distinction, her skill in the cockpit matched only by her deep respect for Naboo's values of peace and diplomacy. She dreamed of becoming a protector of her homeworld, balancing duty with Naboo's ideals of harmony.
Banè's life took a fateful turn when pirates attacked a remote outpost during her first year as a commissioned officer in the Royal Naboo Starfighter Corps. Tasked with flying wing for her flight lead in defense of the settlement, they found themselves outmatched by the well-equipped raiders. Despite their valiant efforts, the pirates overwhelmed the outpost, taking out her flight lead and leaving devastation in their wake. Among the casualties were her parents, who had been delivering a shipment of transparisteel for a restoration project. The attack marked Banè's first taste of failure, and the loss of her family left her grappling with guilt and grief.
Faced with this failure, and the loss of her flight lead, the young flight officer spent hours in simulators and combat rills developing her skills - eventually becoming known among the young pilots for her aggressive, reckless style of flying - determined never to lose another wingman.
