Ah, @[member="Alachei Mnemenos"]. The idiot who'd placed a bounty on Shorn's head. The Thronebreaker saw an opportunity to have his due. Preceding the trial of Subach, Shorn had managed to find one of the bailiffs and have a nice long chat. The bailiff's name was Kurd, Alk Kurd. Alk Kurd was originally a Republic citizen, but he had gone to Alachei's government after disillusionment with the Republic's ways. However, he still had family in the Republic, who he visited occasionally. It was during one of his visits to Republic space that Shorn had found Kurd. One minute Kurd was a terrified bailiff attempting to draw a weapon on the man who had appeared out of nowhere in the alleyway, the next he was a mind controlled peon for Shorn's enjoyment.
The day of the trial, Mikhail sat in the comfortability of his space yacht watching the news somewhere far in the reaches of fringe space. As it so happened, he was watching the Trial of Subach vs CIS. That wasn't what he was interested in, though. He waited.
Alk Kurd was a simple man. He stood solemnly in the court while things proceeded. The accused was brought forth and the judge sat in her seat. Nobody knew about the baradium strapped to Kurd's chest. The security guards ensured that nothing out of the ordinary got through security. But nobody guarded the guards. Without warning or pretense, Alk Kurd drew out the detonator from his pocket and screamed,
"FOR THE REBEL ALLIANCE!"
Then he activated the detonator and the whole room filled with fire and noise.
The entire building trembled with the force of the explosion. The news camera panned rapidly to the site and showed a column of smoke rising from the structure.
"We are getting reports of an explosion inside the courtroom! Dozens are dead, possibly more!" The reporter seemed both horrified and excited.
In the comfortability of his private yacht, Mikhail Shorn smirked.
