The Demici are a house of nobles from Serenno, among eight other major houses on the planet, who span back at least a thousand years in the timeline of known space. Their lineage was masterminded through careful calculation and influenced by political machinations. They are also acknowledged to be the richest individuals among the stars. The noblest house of Demici was always known for its fortitude and vigor, and the needs of such qualities clamored on the threatening stage that is the modern Galaxy, a galaxy in chaos. The once harmonious Family of Counts now gave in to petty power plays constantly made to win alliances and further self-serving campaigns. It had become a ruthless kath hound-eat-kath hound world as one of the first refuges the faltering Galactic Market set its sights on, setting the weight of the Galaxy's burdens from the enormity of trade franchises and governments pleading to be the first to be bailed out.
The family's position was finally set firmly after Eres Demici founded the Bank of Demici, smartly picking out the right network of patrons and investing wisely in commodity wealth. The Demici family would never be touched by economic frailty and suffer the way most of the galaxy would, but there was a time when the fabled marble halls and the gross excess of wealth could have been a thing of the past for them. However with the security of their position came greater responsibility, greater strain, and more of a strive to maintain it all. It also spread their acclaim and made them a great target for many other political, business, and banking powers.
This led to the assassination of three Demici family members. But the Demici were strong and prevailed, now having spread their fame across the galaxy and being one of the powers that it rests its security upon. The bank came a long way in 50 years starting with it's first locations in the D'Astan sector and now boasts hundreds of major locations.
