SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Versatile | The Barran IFV is an immediate threat on the battlefield, whilst both acting as a troop transport it has the capability to destroy soft targets as well as tanks or walkers of comparable or greater scale and size.
  • Take to the Fight, Stay in the Fight | Possessing a thick hull composite and an array of weapons, it takes the concept of the armored personnel carrier a step further, instead of delivering dismounted infantry to the fight only to vacate shortly afterwards, the Barran has the ability to hang in whilst taking and delivering fire support.
WEAKNESSES
  • Large Profile | For all its advantages, the Barran has a large profile and is thus an easy target to sight in and destroy, not to mention dampening its capabilities to act as a recon vehicle.
  • Lags Behind | Whilst a great deal of power systems have been dedicated to the vehicle's repulsorlifts, operating at full tilt, the Barran often struggles to keep up with comparable sized repulsor vehicles, it tends to strain its power source when running cross country in fast moving maneuver formations, leading to maintainence issues.

DESCRIPTION
For all the lessons learned from the conflicts of the New Imperial Order, Kuat Entralla realized the need for a safer and more effective means of transporting ground troops. All-Terrain Walkers were found to be too sluggish and large profile, making them easy target to artillery, orbital and ground fire whilst more traditional armored personnel carriers found themselves taken out in the midst of battle in droves. Hence the need for an Infantry Fighting Vehicle, the Barran able to both deliver its troopers and stay in the fight as needed, providing effective fire support to its dismounted elements. Though the Barran finds itself bogged down with long maintainence downtime due to the strain of its power supply running its repulsor lifts and array of armament for long periods of time.
