should never hold a bat by it`s wings, it is a big no no.
or by your bear hands, as some species carry rabies.

True. That's why if a bat bites or scratches anyone, it has to be euthanized. :(
not in the uk, we have only one species with it, and we send them of to have jabs ether way. Though we do keep close eyes on the bat.

Only few types of bats carry, rabies and to put in perspective, only one man has died of it the uk in the last hundred years. He was a fellow volunteer, and he would not want bats to be demonized for his error. Side note while vampire bats carry it to, they are few animals what will adopt other bats young. Also in the uk the jab s free, if you get bit and we do send dead bats of to be tested, as part montertring program. Also bats are very clean animals, they groom them selves daily, as they need to keep parsites off them to help keep them flying.
Also in the usa, where bats are possibly in terminal decline due to white noses syndrome. It estimated that cost usa billions, in having to buy insecticides, to cope with extra insects as their numbers fall.
p.s. they are my favorite animal in world, and not just because their small and fluffy, and can fly. honest
