Battle Above Plataea

(Repost!)

Scenario

The Setting:
The planet of Plataea lies in the inner core and is a world of deserts and rocky peaks not unlike Tatooine. Like that world, this planet was once very different, having abundant life and liquid water. All that changed many thousands of years before the Republic, when a great battle was fought on the world. It was hypothesised by Republic scholars that during the breakup of the Rakatan Infinite Empire this world became a colossal battleground.
Whatever happened, the planet became a blasted, waterless waste, devoid of life and abandoned for centuries. Ruins and wreckage in space and on the ground were all that remained.
Some five thousand years before the present, Czerka Corporation rediscovered the world in a routine sweep to find extra worlds to exploit. The wreckage in space and on the ground was slightly valuable, and thus a small station was built and teams were sent to scour the wreckage for valuables. Most of the items discovered were of little use except as scrap, so only a small team remained above the planet, and they went about their work slowly.

During the Mandalorian Wars however that all changed. An invading fleet of Mandalorians appeared and routed the few defenders, looting the defenceless merchants. A Republic fleet dispatched to aid them was utterly defeated. During the battle though, several Mandalorian ships went down and crashed on the planet, largely ignored.
During the Sith War the planet was raided by an Imperial fleet and the station crippled.

Thus it remained for millennia, forgotten. When it was finally rediscovered in the years after the Gulag Virus, the new Czerka Corporation claimed the planet as their own. This company had little to do with the ancient one except the name, but it did have access to its databases and had been combing through them to find useful places to exploit.
A team arrived and renovated the ancient space station and ground bases and set to work investigating the planet of Plataea again. At first, little of importance was learned, as the wreckage was so ancient there was little of value. However, some Beskar was obtained from the crashed Mandalorian ships, and some other ancient tech as well, all of which was stored in the orbital space station.
At this point though the researchers on the ground made an unexpected discovery. In an ancient fortress dating to the time of the Rakata they found a sealed chamber, still with power, and seemingly untouched. News of this soon got out though, and soon many were on their way to stake a claim to the planet’s treasures….

Objectives:
There are two primary objectives.
  1. Board the space station and obtain the Beskar and other tech. In doing so, they will also get a head start to locating the ground base. To board the station move a ship into boarding position and overcome the defenders, then complete a search of the base while fighting off enemies.
  2. After obtaining the information from the station, get to the planet with the most ships, while preventing as many enemy landing as possible. The more ships moved ‘into’ the planet, the more forces will be available on the ground, and the better position.
There are also two secondary objectives.
  1. Destroy the enemy fleets. Specially skilled commanders will attract their own rewards.
  2. Destroy the space station after it has been boarded to prevent it falling into enemy hands.

This remote, lifeless world would have interested few in the galaxy. The world was scarred from battles past, with no natural resources clearly abundant. But one corporation thought it would be valuable. According to old records though, back in the Mandalorian Wars, there was a battle where some ships crashed to the surface. No doubt these poor men and women died and never received proper burial, not even the more common burial of armor pieces when the body could not be recovered. And the tech on board would be invaluable. Though, long range scans showed that there was an orbital station. The company probably stored salvage there. So Verz would take the station first. They probably would have invaluable data on board. Time to get it.

Elijah had the honored privilege of being an acting captain of the Regal, while the rest of the fleet spread out to his right.

"Awaiting your orders, sir," he hailed @[member="Dranok Lussk"], the leader of this fleet.

Fingering his collar, he rubbed where it was chafing his neck. It was a new fit, and he wasn't used to the uniform and all.

However, it was a chance to prove his worth to LoTF, and he wasn't about to turn that up.
