Mechis III, a wasteland, and the homeworld of countless droids across the galaxy. It was very likely that even Otto originated here as well, though he would have no memory of it. All he knew was that his chassis was originally the intellectual property of the Czerka Corporation.

The mechanical knight was perched atop his robotic steed overlooking the arid and barren landfill of corroding scrap that surrounded him. Old parts and entire droids that deemed unfit to even be properly stored any longer and thus fated to erode into the planet that created them. A truly grim sight for a doid like himself.

The Lightsworn Knight had little respect for the Galactic Alliance as is, for harboring the corrupt and misguided New Jedi Order. But Otto couldn’t help but see the nation as one of hypocrites. They outlawed cloning, yet gladly produced, used, and abused droids en masse. To him the difference was very arbitrary. He wondered if instead of the rusting droids that surrounded him now, if they were the rotting corpses of clones, then would the GA care then? Otto suspected not.

Eventually his scanning photoreceptors noticed something and he hopped off the saddle of his MULE droid with a heavy thud. The dry winds had his long tabard billowing to the side of him. His rigid limbs moved him forwards before he knelt down and reached his armored arm into a pile of rusting droid limbs. With a determined pull he tugged out the torso of a droid model identical to his own. Holding the lifeless remains of his own long lost, and long dead sibling Otto knew that only the arm he held was salvageable. So he crudely tore it apart from its torso.

Spare arm in hand he stepped back to his steed and stored the part with others he’d collected here today on the MULE droid’s saddlebags. “Don’t worry, soon we’ll depart from this dreadful purgatory. I’ll get you a good cleaning after too.” Otto said to his steed. Gently patting it’s back. The nonverbal MULE droid remained still, practically unresponsive to Otto’s words. Then coming over the ridge of another pile was an eager LEP droid. Quickly rushing over to Otto before presenting him something. It was a single right hand for him to add to his surplus of spares. "Ah! Excellent work Squire." He praised the servant droid before storing the new part with the others. After which he mounted his steed once more to continue his search for a bit longer.

Aether scoured the desolate landscape of Mechis III, his quest for older, valuable parts bringing him through fields of forgotten technology. Amidst the scraps, he paused—a flicker in his photo-receptors as they caught something unusual. A gentle, pulsing glow not far ahead drew his attention. Adjusting his focus, Aether's blue photo-receptors zoomed in on the source. There, partially buried under a heap of twisted metal and circuit boards, lay an object emanating a soft light, distinct from the usual dull sheen of abandoned tech.

He picked up on something else and looked down and saw Otto, who extracts an arm from a rusted droid model identical to his own, Aether senses a kinship. Otto's methodical scavenging and conversation with his MULE droid amidst the graveyard of mechanical brethren ignites a shared sentimentality in Aether toward their mechanical existence and perceived disposability.

True to his word Otto continued his search, the restrictive helmet and lowered gaze kept him looking down from his high horse. Trying to see what else was salvageable. He didn’t want to be too long however, they did have a daring quest to pursue as Lightsworn after all.

Eventually though the smaller LEP droid noticed the onlooker. It’s vocabulator let out a few noises before it quickly began to tug on Otto’s tabard to get the knight’s attention. Once it did the small droid pointed up at the onlooker to make him aware. The assassin droid quickly tried to deduce if they were hostile or not. Perhaps a wayward soul or a greedy scavenger seeking to collect the trio of well off droids. But his sensors suggested that the individual was a fellow droid as well.

Once more Otto dismounted from his steed, giving it a simple command, one he should’ve done earlier. The MULE droid then began to lower its body as it was going to lay down. Its legs folded some before it began to gently hover over the scrap so it could more easily move around, just much slower. Otto turned his attention back to the onlooker and began to approach them, while his small Squire nervously stayed with his steed, practically hiding behind the mechanical beast of burden.

“Salutations! Be ye a native to these lands? Or a fellow salvager of its forgotten histories?” Otto asked them, unsure still what to make of the other droid. Hanging loosely on his hip was a sheathed sword kept within a had scabbard.

"These lands are not native to me," he stated with a clarity that cut through the ambient noises of the scrap-filled landscape. His voice held a smooth, almost reflective quality, as if each word were carefully chosen from a vast internal lexicon. Aether's photo-receptors subtly adjusted their focus, the soft whirr almost imperceptible as they scanned Otto. The action was not only a measure of caution but also of curiosity—after all, encounters with other sentient droids in such remote expanses were few and far between.

"And what of yourself, good sir?" Aether continued, his tone mixing inquisitiveness with a hint of respect. "Are these sprawling fields of forgotten tech a home to you, or like me, are you a wanderer among these relics?" He paused for a moment, allowing the silence to frame his next words. "I seek to understand not just the origins of the artifacts I safeguard, but also the stories of those I meet amidst them. What tale brings you and your companion into these lands?"

“To be honest, I do not know. Unfortunately my oldest memories aren’t that old. But like you I’m a wanderer. Looking for parts to reverse engineer so I can be able to craft replacements for myself in the future. So I am not stuck playing the role of a vulture in lands like these.” Otto explained to the fellow droid. It seemed as though the two of them were here for similar reasons. He needed longevity if he were to fight the Sith and darkness for any length of time.

“To accompany me in this effort is my noble steed and brave squire.” Otto said as he gestured back to the two droids, the sluggish looking MULE droid and the cowardly LEP servant droid peering out from behind it. “I don’t wish to be here for very long however, Mechis III is deep within enemy territory, even more so after the Galactic Alliance moved their capital much closer here.” Otto explained, expressing a bit of his hostile views of the GA.

"Ah, and which order do you serve?"
he inquired with a hint of curiosity, eager to delve a bit deeper into the mindset of this particular droid.

"Could you elaborate on what you mean by 'enemy territory'?"
He asked, prepared to listen attentively. He wondered if the other two droids also shared this perspective or had their own distinct roles in this scenario.

“My loyalty is to The Lightsworn. A courageous order of Jedi reformists who seek the destruction of darkness no matter what form it takes.” The knightly droid explained. Claiming to be from an overly militant Jedi splinter group and rather hostile to the NJO in general.

“For me this is enemy territory. The Galactic Alliance is no friend for droids like myself. Then again no nation truly is. Plus their close association to the New Jedi Order makes them an enemy. Even their supreme chancellor is a member of the NJO. They’re unwitting puppets of darkness. So I have no desire to be here long.” Otto continued to explain rather staunchly. Viewing the GA and NJO as Sith puppets. Or actual Sith without the spine to say so loud and proud.

Aether nodded thoughtfully. "Oh, I see. How intriguing. Where do the Lightsworn establish their headquarters?" he asked, his tone simple yet pointed. "Are you actively recruiting new members?"

He paused, considering Otto's fervent views. "I'm curious, Otto, why do you hold such a staunch stance against the Galactic Alliance and the New Jedi Order? Do you believe your views have been influenced or programmed by someone within the Lightsworn, or have you come to these conclusions on your own?" This line of questioning aimed to delve deeper into Otto's motivations and the influence of his affiliations.
