Canon Link: N/A
Permissions: N/A
Primary Source: N/A
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
Manufacturer: Visanj T’shkali
Affiliation: Closed-Market
Model: Battlemaster III (Counter Force-user) Droid Combat Programming Suite
Modularity: Yes; can be included in droid construction or added after-market into various types and designs of droids.
Production: Limited Production
Material: Software coding
SPECIAL FEATURES:
Martial Arts Programming, specifically those systems which were designed to compete against and contend with Force-using enemies –
Lightsaber Combat Programming uses training programs from Jedi Sentinel Droids, historical archives, and various training treatises, etc. to allow droids using the Battlemaster III to become terrifically proficient in –
STRENGTHS:
  • Enhances droids’ unarmed and melee combat capabilities, able to match and counter Force-user opponents such as Jedi, Sith, etc., including those considered to be ‘masters’ in those traditions; able to go toe-to-toe with them with strong likelihood of success – made even more so by repeated applications of the training programs over time.
  • Provides droids with extensive database library of Force traditions, their histories, notable individuals, wars, combat methods, etc. enabling them to become ‘experts’ on Force traditions and plan and coordinate to contend with them in ways most droids – and historical droid armies – never have.
WEAKNESSES:
  • While the Battlemaster III can elevate droids’ abilities to those of Sentinel Droids, Separatist General Grievous and his praetorian guard droids, or similarly formidable droid fighters in history, they can still be defeated by the very Force-users they’re enhanced to defeat. The sheer ingenuity, cunning, and relentlessness has shown, historically, to be a factor that droid logic cannot frequently overcome when it’s truly brought to bear. The limitations of droid intellect and physicality still remain.
  • No database is ever truly complete, and some secrets – held closely in the hearts and bowels of organizations like the Jedi and Sith – are not found here, and such gaps in knowledge are weaknesses which can be exploited. Ancient techniques and secret advantages, when encountered, can prove to be their undoing quite effectively.
  • No amount of knowledge, even historical records and holo-vids, can replace the actual experience shared by Force-users. First, droids do not know and feel the Force experientially, and cannot use those emotions and experiences the same way. Second, droids lack the ability to use the Force when they fight, a glaring disadvantage in combat.
  • Can only be used in droids designed for exceptional intellectual and physical performance.
DESCRIPTION:
For centuries, droids have existed who were able to do battle against Force-users. Some, like General Grievous, his Magnaguards, Jedi Temple Sentinel Droids, and others have proven themselves formidable foes, able to strike terror into the hearts of Jedi and Sith alike. The Battlemaster III upgrade can make just such a droid.
Endowing droids with an extensive knowledge of various Force traditions, their histories, methods of fighting, weaknesses and strengths, and more, these droids can function with an exceptional understanding of Force-using opponents, their tactics and methods, and can use this knowledge to great effect against them. More, the upgrade grants a droid with the ability to skillfully and expertly perform a variety of unarmed and melee combat techniques specifically designed for countering the abilities of Force-users, and more still, to wield a lightsaber with the same skills as many an experienced Sith Acolyte or Jedi Knight, and with repeated applications of this droid training programming, can – provided the droid possesses the heuristic processors required – to develop these skills even so that they might face a Jedi or Sith Master confidently.
However, droids cannot use the Force, limiting their abilities to mimic the lightsaber forms of their opponents and leaving them with distinctive disadvantages, requiring them to seek out and exploit other weaknesses to regain even footing against them. Furthermore, Force traditions like the Baran-Do, Jedi, and Sith all possess closely and jealously-guarded secrets, secrets not known widely among the galaxy or even among their own numbers. Such secret techniques and skills, when encountered, can result in potentially unaccounted-for disadvantages, which if exploited, may mean disaster for the droid.
