OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
POPULATION
The history of Batva is largely unknown to the rest of the galaxy. Batva has sat alone for hundreds of thousands of years. Originally, the Batvadans grew into a society that was highly educated, and had many scholars, scientists, and artisans that made a wonderful pre-space age society. Then, of course, for such glamor, the workers of the Batvadan ancient society lived in the deep subterranean cave system known as the Underground. Here, miners lived in the depths, and worked to bring up the precious gems and various metals the more glamorous members of their society used for their projects of advancing society. It was not slavery, and they lived rather decently, based on the somewhat spacious homes that still stand in the Underground of Batva today. Much is unknown from this time period, as much of the researched findings, and any documents at all, were destroyed in a great cataclysm hundreds of thousands of years ago.
The cataclysm that ended the burgeoning society of the ancient Batvadans was a massive solar storm. The vicious heat and solar winds ripped much of the atmosphere from the planet. Planets that were closer to the sun got ripped apart and cushioned the blow for Batva, but still the damage was enough to decimate the Batvadan civilization. The solar winds stripped the world of its atmosphere on the surface, while the radiation and heat brutally cooked all life that was still in the process of slowly dying from suffocation in the vacuum of space. With the surface completely annihilated, and all that remained was scorched rock and vulnerable ruins, the Batvadans that worked underground were almost completely oblivious to the fate of their surface dwelling brethren. However, they learned quickly the fate of the surface, and soon after that the Underground began to descend into chaos. Miraculously, a massive machine used for filtering and circulating air in the Underground was what saved the mining communities, as the atmosphere underground maintained its status in stark contrast to the surface’s atmosphere.
Nonetheless, the Batvadans that survived the near extinction of their species, began to first devolve their society into Tribalism. Then, their physical appearance began to adapt to their new surroundings. The Batvadans’ eyes became more and more vestigial, and their sockets were covered with a lining of skin.Their ears and noses became more pronounced,, and their posture and size diminished to easily traverse their subterranean home. Now the Batvadans live as primitive savages on their homeworld, and certainly have fallen far from the status their long-dead ancestors achieved.
Batva was discovered as new powers were rising in the Unknown Regions. The Agents of Chaos made the nearby system of The Deep, their capital, and the Eternal Empire and First Order have risen to power not too far from where Batva is located (Eternal Empire being much closer of the other two). As people from these risen, and fallen, powers explored the region more, they found a pocket where a system should be that was not recorded. This anomaly was investigated by scientists in the region, and the system of Batva was discovered. Now that it is discovered, with not much is known about Batva to the rest of the galaxy, the other powers in the Unknown Regions have yet to figure out how to handle this world that just seemed to appear on their maps. The world has potential for mining, as the asteroids , shattered planets, and the surface of Batva itself , are home to many untouched minerals. The depths of Batva’s underground still has many veins of gems and pockets of crystals that could be of interest as well. However, Batva‘s surface is completely inhospitable, and its underground is home to the remaining Batvadans that will most likely attack or avoid any newcomers that come into a given tribe’s domain. Then, the witch queen that rules over Lachbroch, but lays claim to all of the planet, would have varying reactions to whatever or whoever comes to the planet.
Either way, Batva is an ancient world with a lot of lost history, and scars from an ancient cataclysm. Those scars being either the scorched surface, or the devolved natives that call the hospitable Underground their home. Now that it has recently been discovered, two worlds will end up colliding. The Batvadanss that have only known their world for as long as their species has existed post-cataclysm, and the rest of the entire galaxy.
- Intent: To create a homeworld for the Batvadan race, as well as a proper home for Niransh Binzra. Then, as of making this submission, this world could add to the storyline of the Eternal Empire with the Shadow Empire Narrative that is happening. Though, for the future, this world can also be useful for any cave delving adventures where people try to discover secrets of the ancient Batvadans on this planet, or the abandoned secrets of those who briefly came to Batva in the times following this submission.

- Planet Name: Batva
- Demonym: Batvadan
- Region: Unknown Regions
- System Name: Batva
- System Features: Batva is the only intact planet in its system. The outer edge of the system is taken up by a ring of icy asteroids. Just inside of those asteroids lies Batva itself, while 2 shattered planets (now asteroid rings themselves) make up the inner region of the solar system until the bright White Dwarf sun is reached. The names of these shattered worlds are forgotten to even the Batvadans themselves.
- Location: The center of lower-right adjacent hex to The Deep’s hex
- Major Imports: None: Currently Completely Isolated
- Major Exports: None: Currently Completely Isolated
- Unexploited Resources: Veins of gems can be mined in the Underground. Due to the unique environment in the depths, special types of rubies, saphires, and emeralds have formed from the minerals in the water (particularly Aurodium interacting with increcibly oxygen rich water) interacting with the stone in the caves. The surface could be used to mine metals which formed when the surface was scorched by its sun. In particular, Carbonite ore, forms of gold and silver, lommite, and hfredium. There are various chemicals found in the glowing fungi in the Underground of the planet that could be used for various alchemical concoctions. Specifically more psychedelically inclined chemicals from said fungi, yet certain properties with specific concoctions could interact with the force to produce actual spells and the like.
- Gravity: Standard
- Climate: Days are excruciatingly hot, and those temperatures get multiplied ten-fold during summer. Nights are incredibly cold, and winter increases the dynamics of those temperatures too. There is no wind, and there are no clouds, all year long. Meanwhile, the subterranean world has a year long warm temperature. The further deep into this area one goes, the warmer things get, whereas the closer to the surface, the temperatures vary slightly, but not as dramatically. There are hardly any seasons in the underground portion of the world, and there are also no clouds, or any wind down there as well.
- Primary Terrain: The surface is a barren, rocky wasteland, while the underground portion varies between glowing fungal forests, subterranean seas, or just barren caverns.
- Atmosphere: A Type IV atmosphere exists on the surface, while a mysteriously stable Type I atmosphere exists underground. The difference comes from ancient times when the ancient Batvadans set up mining colonies in the subterranean world. The already existing ecosystem was one factor, but then the instalment of the pipelines from the Rochluns eventually created a second atmosphere in the inner portions of the planet. As a result, when the surface was scorched of its atmosphere and all forms of life, the underground world was left relatively unscathed.
- Capital City: The closest form of any city, and somewhat capital, is the city of Lachbroch which is built around an ancient machine once used to filter air for long-dead miners, but now works as means to keep the atmosphere underground intact and stable. Vents snake across the Underground of the world allowing for all the tunnels, warrens, and chambers to have perfectly breathable air. However, the city of Lachbroch itself is more like a cluster of various camps of tribes in the area that have founded a loose coalition under a witch queen who uses the machine to become immortal. Slowly, the city is turning into a more cohesive society, while other tribes in the rest of the world’s underground remain scattered and primitive, this queen has made the tribes in the area of Lachbroch progress in technology, and society to rebuild the glory of their ancestors. Today, monuments carved out of the cave walls and rock pillars are coupled with primitive tents made of chitin from insects that live down there, and piled rocks.
- Planetary Features: The various features of Batva are what is left behind from a pre-space civilization of scholars and artisans. However, all that remains of this age of enlightened Batvadans are ruins and barbaric descendants of the survivors of the cataclysm that befell Batva hundreds of thousands of years ago.
- The World’s Lungs (Rochluns in modern Batvadan): The name given to the machine that allows some breathable atmosphere to exist on Batva, and the framework that the current Batvadans live around. It’s main device is what the only proper city on the planet is built upon, and its vent shafts lead to settlements of other tribes that have built small villages of tents and-or primitive hovels in the glowing forests or along the cold, black seas. Because of this device that was left behind from a forgotten ancient history, life continues to exist on Batva.
- Various ancient mine shafts act as entrances to the underground. Lifts would bore straight down, while more gradual tunnels snake into the underground. Some old mining machines may still remain in these entrances, though they are beyond repair after sitting around deactivated and unmaintained for hundreds of thousands of years.
- Some small ruined buildings still exist on the surface, though many of the ancient cities have been destroyed through solar radiation, solar winds, and unbridled heat from the sun speeding up decomposition, or asteroids crashing on the surface. Not much valuable information can be found as any pottery left behind has been bleached by the sun, stone tablets are shattered, papers have disintegrated, and any technology that has not been crushed by asteroids has become unusable due to not being used and maintained for hundreds of thousands of years.
- One notable ruin that still stands to this day in near-intact shape despite abandonment and no protection from the sun’s radiation, heat, and solar winds, is an old observatory called the Star Eye (or the Aurai in modern Batvadan) by the locals. It is a giant tower that instead has its foundations in a cave floor in the underground parts of the world, and only slightly sticks up on the surface. It is believed to have been a place of universal scholarly study, but most records are gone as paper has decomposed, and stone tablets with minimal information on them are all that is left in writing. However, the device in the observatory miraculously is still intact, and is a well constructed telescope that is able to see various nearby planets with great detail.
- In the darkness of the Underground of Batva, there are various ruined villages of miners that once housed the ancestors of the Batvadans that live today. However, the remains of the ancient past have now been turned into barbarian villages and insect hives. There are some regions more developed than others (most developed areas are near the subterranean seas and-or rivers, as well as along major pipelines between those two bodies of water).
- Abandoned pipelines snake their way through every warren in the Underground. Some lead up to the surface where air was circulated, or water came up and down via the pipes. Today, these pipelines that remain below the surface still operate, though slightly sub-par compared to when they were properly maintained and operated. These pipelines become areas where whole villages of modern Batvadans center around to sustain them in the dark world.
- Major Locations:
- The “capital city” of Lachbroch built around the Rochluns is the only notable place still used today on Batva. The remainder of Batvadans live in tribal villages all around the underground layer of the planet, but this is the only place that could truly be called a city. Hovels made of chitin and piled rocks surround the ancient machine the size of a palace, while monuments to the witch queen that lives inside the Rochluns, as well as any Batvadans that have gotten into the good graces of the witch queen, are carved from the cave walls, or giant boulders hauled to their locations by the witch queen’s thralls. Slowly, the hovels and chitinous tents are being replaced by proper buildings in the new city, but still various tribes lay claim to living around the somewhat sacred machine, which makes the process of creating a proper city difficult, and even slower.
- The remainder of the Underground is important to take note of. This is the only place where organic life continues to live, though drastically different from ancient times of Batva. A unique ecosystem exists all throughout the Underground, but outside of Lachbroch the wilderness is extremely vibrant. Countless tribes skulk around in the depths trying to survive, but other than ruins from the ancient past, nothing is of true note in these lands.
- The surface is devoid of life, and the ruins are near indiscernible from mountains and ridges naturally formed. One massive set of ruins is believed to be the ancient capital of Batva though, as most intact ruins can be found in that region. However, there is no writing that could be found intact that can confirm if those ruins are the ancient capital of Batva or not. It could have been just another one of the forgotten ancient cities that luckily did not decompose as severely as its neighboring cities.
POPULATION
- Native Species: Batvadans are the native species, and have now devolved into the eyeless beings that skulk in the Underground today. There are various other types of flora and fauna as well, mostly glowing fungi or insectoid creatures the modern Batvadans use for food, armor, weapons, and even housing parts.
- Immigrated Species: None. Batva has been completely isolated for hundreds of thousands of years.
- Population: Moderate: The population of Lachbroch is what makes this categorization. Most of the population live in the city, while the rest live in small hunter-gatherer tribes in the Underground of Batva. Meanwhile, the surface of the planet has been completely devoid of any life since the cataclysm. IC-wise, the population on the planet is unknown due to the Batvadans never conducting a formal censuses.
- OOC: The overall population on the planet would be about 890,000,000, with about 900,000 of that population living in Lachbroch while the rest is scattered in the other portions of the Underground.
- Demographics: Batva is home to a largely homogeneous demographic of Batvadans. The Batvadans today are devolved descendants of an ancient, but isolated, race of scholars and artisans. Today, they are more like troglodytic, savage barbarians that skulk in the darkness. Because of their isolation since even the beginning of their species, the Batvadans have no idea there are any other races out there from their planet. No Batvadan has ever left their planet, and no one has ever visited Batva due to it being located just off of most of the very few hyperspace routes in the edges of the Unknown Regions. As a result, if others came to Batva, the Batvadans would be utterly confused, and not know what to do. The only one who would possibly understand any outsiders would be the witch queen at Lachbroch, and that would end up depending on the behavior of, and what she senses of, the outsiders. Either she would embrace them to her planet, try to make sure they do not get into the underground no matter what, or directly attack them through either her magic (basically the force without knowing it is the force) or through her servants and thralls.
- Primary Languages: Batvadan; no other language is known to these people due to the severe isolation. Some Batvadans may speak varying dialects in the world, but all Batvadans can largely understand each other.
- Culture: Culture is extremely diverse on Batva. With countless small tribes roaming around, or settled in various caves, culture has only a few universal qualities. There are various warrior, fishermen, hunter, religion based, insect riding/taming, fungus farming, and mystic tribes all across Batva. The gathered tribes at Lachbroch are more spiritual, with the witch queen that rules form the Rochluns being a mystic ruler. The Glumstlk Tribe is typically the warriors of that city, while the Forngroch Tribe have become fungus farmers.
- Government: Batva is not ruled by any specific leader. Most Batvadans live under the system of Tribalism, while those living in Lachbroch may have a loose confederacy ruled over through reverence to the witch queen that rules as an Absolutist Theocrat (though does not tend to exercise her power much unless she wants monuments and proper buildings constructed) which also happens to be immortal.
- Affiliation: None. It has been truly isolated for all of its history. The Batvadans have no idea about the greater galaxy around them other than more systems of planets exist out there. The only Batvadan that could possibly use The Force is the witch queen herself, but even she is largely unaffiliated with the dark and light sides, and instead uses The Force to have visions of the future. Any other Batvadan force sensatives usually do not even know their gift exists, and no Batvadan even knows what The Force even is.
- Wealth: Poor: The Batvadans have been incredibly isolated, and have not even come up with proper currency. Each tribe values certain items differently, and no universal means of currency really is used. In comparison to other civilizations, the Batvadans of today are incredibly poor.
- Stability: Medium: Because of Lachbroch, this categorization is assigned. The rule of the witch queen keeps the various tribes from killing each other through her having an army of thralls, and subtly influencing the tribal leaders through dream manipulation. The tribes do not fight each other at all due to the witch queen’s influence, yet in regards to the way the rest of the planet is compared to Lachbroch, the city is incredibly stable. Meanwhile, the rest of the planet has incredibly low stability due to it being occupied by either hives of insectoid creatures or hunter-gatherer tribes that constantly compete with each other for territory and resources needed to survive. This low stability then gets placed on the surface since nothing is there at all to keep order whatsoever.
- Freedom & Oppression: In terms of each tribe on Batva, it is very free with each tribe being able to do whatever it would need to in order to survive. However, within each tribe, freedom and oppression varies. Some chieftains rule with iron fists, while others simply allow individuals to do as they please as long as they say they are in charge and are all of the same tribe. Though, Lachbroch is a slight exception, as each tribe is granted freedom in how they run themselves, but the witch queen can exercise her supreme authority to all the tribes of Lachbroch whenever she feels like it.
- Military: As what one would expect from primitive, barbaric tribes, each tribe has its own military. Even Lachbroch does not have one universal army to defend it aside from the witch queen’s legion of thralls tasked with defense of the city. Just tribal warriors from each tribe, though the Glumstlk Tribe is the more notable group of warriors for Lachbroch, as that tribe has a more warrior based culture. It is unclear how easily Batva could be conquered. Where a committed force with advanced technology could conquer the world in a matter of time, a brutal guerilla war in the depths would happen, and the Batvadans have had hundreds of thousands of years to adapt their fighting styles perfectly for their underground world of darkness.
- Technology: Incredibly primitive. The Batvadans fashion their weapons and armor from rocks, and insectoid chitin. Their homes are mostly made from large chitin or stacked rocks (unless they have taken up residence in subterrainean ruins from before the cataclysm). Their weapons are more like primitive clubs, though pieces of insectoid mandibles have been used to create more edged weapons. Then, the ancient technology of Batva is sub-galactic standard. Such technology is somewhat advanced, but the ancient Batvadans did not get to the point of being able to travel in hyperspace, shoot blasters, use holographic imaging, or much else commonly used around the galaxy in current times.
