- Armored - Designed to protect children during long journeys and transport no matter the environment, featuring a thick and durable Theadin tank combined with a duranium frame which allows the pod to stand firm against kinetic impact and even blaster fire.
- Life Support - Using Kaminoan technology designed to sustain infantile-phase clones, the pod includes numerous life support and medical features which can be used to sustain, feed and even heal infants.
- Bacta not included - Bacta gel must be bought separately and injected into the pod via primary external hose.
- Nutrients not included - Nutrient materials must be bought or provided separately and fed to the infant through the artificial umbilical cord or- in the case of later stage babies- via remote control secondary internal hose worn over the mouth, both of which are connected to a larger external nutrient hose.
The BBU-pod was originally designed as a transportable "Exo-womb" meant to house developing clones for their donors or Bayal Corporation doctors showing off the organic product to potential buyers. Donors who bought the Bayal clones would sometimes use the pods in lieu of natural pregnancy, functionally simulating and providing the infant with all the necessary resources. The pods saw enough use that the Bayal corporation began selling them offworld, as they could easily be configured to care for natural born infants post-pregnancy as well, and provided them durable protection for mothers in less than ideal situations, such as refugees leaving a warzone like those displaced by the undead Caldera Crisis, or even nomads and certain egg laying species.
