SPECIAL FEATURES
Strengths:
  • Extreme Speed: The Beebop is not made for combat but rather for getting oneself and crew from point A to point B as fast as possible. The SLAM system helped with this, allowing the engines to go into overdrive. Using P-sz9.7 twin engines for standard travel, and two WhisperThrust engines for secondary stealth travel, this ship is exceedingly fast when it needs to be, and sneaky when it has to be.
  • Hard-to-Find: Stealthy WhisperThrust engines, combined with various stealth components make this vessel difficult to target or detect.
  • Hard-to-Catch: Peregrine field disruptor, fast speed and nimble agility, unique hyperdrive abilities, and full stealth package combine to make this shuttle a tough ship to latch onto.
  • Hard-to-Kill: Durable hull plating uses layered Shocksteel and Bantam plating which combine to offer incredible protection without sacrificing speed or maneuverability.
  • Ion Scrambler: Untraceable hyperwave communications add another element of sneak to her arsenal.
  • Extreme Range: The Beebop's lone cannon can pick off a fighter at long ranges, though it is not advisable to do so in a hostile situation.
Weaknesses:
  • Not A Fighter: The Beebop is poorly-armed and has only standard starfighter shielding, despite its durable hull, it won't last long in a dogfight, nor against any kind of seriously heavy weaponry.
  • Pick-and-Choose Wisely: The Beebop crew has to choose carefully, as to fully avail itself of the stealth package aboard, it must travel slower and cannot use its SLAM or heavy P-sz9.7 engines. So if you're trying to go unnoticed, don't think you can go tearing in or away without being found out.
  • It's a Mouse, Not a Monster: The Beebop is small, which limits the number of passengers or cargo it can accommodate as well as its consumables payload to just a few days, making it poorly-suited for long-term travel unsupported.
Description

Visanj and her crew wanted a shuttle that could be used a variety of roles: A scout, able to move about unnoticed and undetected to monitor the enemy or perform advance recon missions; An infiltration / exfiltration platform for inserting operatives, clandestine deliveries or missions, or getting her people out of trouble quick; A med-evac ship, capable of retrieving badly wounded personnel, even under fire on the battlefield; or, a Blue Milk-runner, able to make deliveries or away missions easily. When she learned that the Free Fleet had a couple of Whisperlites available, she knew immediately she'd found what she was looking for.

"Two, please."

Of course, she and her crew would rip them apart and mod the heck out of them, that's what they do - and also why their ship hasn't had a working toaster in months. They replaced the standard durasteel hull with Shocksteel and Bantam, increasing protection significantly, then added layers of stealthy polymer, shadowskin, and PGA coating. Taking out the big stock engines, they opted for two sets powerful ion engines, picked up in a deal on Tatooine, that had been harvested from old TIE Defenders, together with WhisperThrust stealth engines, giving them the option of having the fastest ship in the sky or the sneakiest, as the situation called for. Other stealth components were added, along with the Specter Hypertransit System and a hard-wired VT-Capacitor, enabling them to make atmospheric jumps, micro-jumps, multi-jumps, all of the jumps quickly and (mostly) safely. The crew quarters got yanked, save for the scaled-down refresher, and jump seats were put in instead. Overhead stowage, LED blackout lighting in the interior, a big multi-directional floodlight on the exterior, special landing craft to permit them to put down most anywhere they wanted, and taking a cue from the U-Wings, a retractable ceiling-positioned pinion mount for infantry-style heavy weapons was installed by the ramp doors - making them able to provide cover or light air support inside a planet's atmosphere.

The main bay is big enough for holding a small strike team, carrying a med-bed for retrieving the wounded along with a medic or two, or ferrying about roughly 15 Mg worth of cargo. For a short trip, ranging from a few hours to about three days, the Beebop was your go-to option for a while variety of mission types. On board their ship, the little shuttles proved so popular with the crew that "Beebop" has become a verb, as in "I'll Beebop down and be right back" or "We can Beebop over". Two of these will fit neatly side by side inside her ship's hangar, a big plus thanks to the slim-line compact original design by JAST. They make nice stuff over there.

As osmotic field emitter ensures sterility, good for med-evac or when touching down on a world with a nasty, polluted, or toxic environment. Dampener chaff helps keep the pain away when being pursued. Comms are all encrypted hyperwave, giving them incredible range and privacy, and their systems are well hardened against slicers. The peregrine makes it possible to slip through most interdiction situations and to stay in hyperspace without unwanted reversions in most cases. The Beebops aren't able to take down the Death Star, but for Visanj and the plucky crew of the good ship 'It Wasn't Me!", they'd do just fine!
