The Lady of Deceit

"I am the lie they will love."

CHARACTER CONCEPT HUB

So, you want to write a character within Atramentum—but where do you begin? This isn't just another faction. Atramentum is a conspiracy, a philosophy, and a secret war for the soul of the galaxy. Our stories are told through assassinations, in corrupted scriptures, whispered betrayals, turning brother against brother and the slow collapse of empires from within. Whether you're drawn to the path of a masked assassin, a silver-tongued infiltrator, a heretical sorcerer, or a lost soul ready to be rewritten, there is a place for you here. This thread is your gateway. Below, you'll find inspiration for character archetypes, story roles, and guidance on how to become a part of the Rewrite.

NEW WRITERS

Atramentum is built for storytellers who want something different. You don't need to be a Chaos veteran or a lore expert to join. In fact, some of the best stories start with characters who are uncertain, broken, or completely unaware of the greater schemes at play. Maybe your character is a failed Sith acolyte, discarded by their master and desperate for meaning. Maybe they're a senator's aide who starts noticing strange changes in their policies. Perhaps they're a historian uncovering inconsistencies in the past—or a Force-sensitive who was never trained, but always knew something was wrong with what they were taught. Atramentum thrives on that quiet unraveling, the moment when your character asks the forbidden question and finds a hidden answer waiting.

Don't worry about ranks or titles just yet. If you're brand new, we encourage you to start as a Velatus—an initiate with no past, a blank slate being reshaped by the Dyad's vision. From there, your character might be tested, broken, elevated, or erased. The story is shaped by your choices and how deeply your character allows themselves to fall into the dark. Alternatively, if you already have a character from another faction, we can work with you to create a deep-cover arc, a secret allegiance to Atramentum that lets you slowly reveal your corruption. No matter your experience level, there's a place here for clever thinkers, quiet monsters, and elegant manipulators.

EXPERIENCED WRITERS

For experienced writers and long-time Chaos veterans, Atramentum offers a rare opportunity: the chance to write at the highest levels of subtlety, influence, and narrative control. This is a faction designed not around territory maps or warfleets, but around belief as a weapon, and the elegant, devastating ways it can be reshaped. If you've done the duels, the politics, the grandstanding—Atramentum is your chance to become the one pulling strings behind all of it. Whether you want to play an Inner Circle operative crafting entire ideological campaigns, a Manus agent embedded deep within another faction, or a Threnathi assassin eliminating threats to the Rewrite, the narrative space here is rich, mature, and tailored for layered storytelling.

GETTING STARTED

Getting started in Atramentum is simple—you begin where your character breaks. If you're starting fresh, the best entry point is the Velati, Atramentum's initiate class. These characters are stripped of their past, identity, and purpose, and reforged through ritual, doctrine, and psychological erosion. You can work with the faction staff (or the Dyad directly) to craft an entry thread where your character is recruited, abducted, seduced, or discovered. From there, your path will unfold naturally—based on how you write, where your character leans, and how deeply they allow Atramentum to reshape them. It's not about "leveling up." It's about being changed in-story, and building a character who either becomes something greater—or doesn't survive the process.

If you already have a character, joining Atramentum can be as subtle or explosive as you like. Maybe they've already been corrupted by a Manus operative and don't even know it yet. Maybe they're part of another faction and playing a long game as a sleeper agent. You can join through direct contact with faction staff for plotting, or jump into one of the open narrative threads that serve as infection points: a Velati indoctrination rite, a Manus-led corruption campaign, or a Threnathi shadow operation. Every part of Atramentum is interconnected—so the moment you step into one layer, the rest will begin to close in.

WANT TO WRITE WITH US?

Atramentum is designed to be the perfect hidden antagonist, co-conspirator, or philosophical challenge for characters in any faction. Whether you're Jedi, Sith, Mandalorian, soldier, senator, or something stranger—Atramentum can weave into your story from the shadows. Our operatives specialize in infiltration and manipulation, meaning your character might start noticing strange discrepancies in doctrine, disappearances among your allies, or ideas that seem just a little too persuasive to ignore. Maybe a Manus Obscura agent is subtly rewriting sacred texts in your archives. Maybe a Threnathi has been sent to eliminate someone you were meant to protect. These aren't always overt confrontations—they're long arcs of suspicion, tension, betrayal, and revelation. You don't need to join Atramentum to tell a story with it—you just need to wonder if the truths around your character are still real.

We actively encourage cross-faction stories, and we're happy to help set them up. Want to run a heresy investigation in your Jedi enclave? We'll plant the glyphs. Want your Sith character to realize their apprentices have been ideologically compromised? We'll write the infiltration. You can collaborate with us for subplots, red herrings, internal purges, hidden cults, or even subtle recruitment arcs. Atramentum thrives in shadows cast by larger factions—and we offer a way to make your stories richer, more paranoid, and more rewarding. If you're interested in turning your character's arc into something deeper, darker, and far more uncertain, reach out. After all,
by the time you suspect Atramentum is involved… it already is.
