OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: I'm making this submission because I just watched LOTR and want a Balrog style enemy for dungeon style campaigns. This is purely a non affiliated antagonistic NPC
  • Role: To serve as an incredibly powerful Dungeon Boss for multiple powerful characters to be able to deal with, following preparation and great difficulty. This creature is very rare, and untameable/uncontrollable.
  • Links: N/A
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Unit Name: Belroth of the World Before
  • Affiliation: Itself
  • Classification: Boss
  • Equipment: N/A
COMBAT INFORMATION
  • Availability: Very Rare [These creatures exist in the darkest depths of the most isolated planets]
  • Deployment: Unique [Only ever one at a time]
  • Strengths & Weaknesses:
+ Sentient: This is a beast of a time before us when mountains shifted for the favour of gods. Each of these creatures are individuals, and intelligent. They, are primarily instinctual but have their own personalities and are not predictable.
+ Consumed by Darkness: In the deepest and darkest caves, these creatures reside, feared by all. Their radiance attracts all manners of beasts and gruesome creatures. To find one is to find equally monstrous creatures.
+Force Sensitive: This creature, typically has powerful force abilities. However it is limited to Force Scream, Telepathy, Dark Rage, Darshear and Malacia.
+Massive Foes: A Belroth is typically on average 25ft tall, with massive gargantuan arms, slow and lumbering forth like a great deity.
+Mind Games: Some Belroth's not all, are not entirely consumed by insanity. They, after so many years of isolation will enjoy a good conversation. They enjoy tormenting their foes and having the battle won before they can even be found.

-Arrogant: Belroth's believe themselves servants of a greater abyssal hell that is hidden somewhere beyond the sight of man. They are incredibly arrogant, and don't expect anything to pose a threat to them.
-immovable Object: Their arrogance blinds them, they've never learned to dodge or feint. It's pretty impossible to miss these creatures with an attack when in their natural form.
-No Armour: These creatures are sturdy, but their flesh is as easily wounded as any mans. They have no significant physical defence.
-Slow: These creatures are slow and that really means they are hard to not see coming. Once they get momentum they can be startlingly fast, however you can see them winding up from miles away just due to their stature.

  • Description:
A creature of dark space, not naturally from our Galaxy. It existed before we did, in the depths and darkest shadows of our universe, these grand beasts reside, hungerless and ageless. It is not known how these beasts came to be, where they are from nor how they reached these depths. They reside in locations impossible for them to enter, yet it seems as though they have always been.

The mind plays tricks, you know they shouldn't be. You know they don't belong, a man or woman can feel it in thick of their bones that a Belroth is not natural. As if something climbed out of a bottomless pit in the Universe and clawed its way to reality.

A Belroth fights with its weight behind every swing, it uses all of its ability in tandem to kill. It also specifically uses Darkshear to form various weapons, whips and blades to strike at enemies. However, these typically fade after a few moments.

A Belroth inspires fear, it clouds itself in shadow through telepathy and illusion granting it the imagery of something grander in stature than it truly is. At the centre of this shadow is a large boiling white flame with the Belroth's face roaring within, like the shape of a man yet greater.

Usually the Codex requires balancing of some kind when it comes to units and other creations.

But honestly this is clearly meant to be an incredibly tough opponent for DM situations, so I don't think it is necessary here. Of course, if one of these things is ever tamed or controlled and begins to serve a PC, it should go through the Codex for proper balancing, I hope that is understood.

Enjoy the spoopy boss boi, pending secondary approval!
