OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a home for a new character, as well as the start and base for a faction I intend said character to lead
  • Image Credit: Myself, using [x]
  • Canon: N/A
  • Links: N/A
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Planet Name: Officially Belteran, Xom to inhabitants (literally "home")
  • Demonym: Belta(s)
  • Region: Outer Rim Territories
  • System Name: Beltera
  • System Features:
    • Beltera I - 63 day orbital period, no moons, 39 hour rotational period
    • Beltera II (also Belteran) - 272 day orbital period, 2 moons (Bik and Mali), tidally locked with star
    • Beltera III - 768 day orbital period, 5 moons, gas giant
    • Beltera IV - 14 year orbital period, 1 moon, 13 hour rotational period
  • Location:
    QJkfuNy.png
  • Major Imports: Foodstuffs, mining equipment/repair materials
  • Major Exports: Quadranium ore, Durasteel ore
  • Unexploited Resources: Raw Anthracite
GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION
  • Gravity: Two-thirds Standard
  • Climate: Arid and scorching hot on the surface
  • Primary Terrain: Craters/Mountains
  • Atmosphere: Type IV
LOCATION INFORMATION
  • Capital City: Erelufen
  • Planetary Features: Massive underground cave systems carved from volcanic activity, man-made cities built into these caves
  • Major Locations: Wowm Basin (a mining area built on a part of the planet where the local star is directly overhead), The Winding Spires (a portion of the cave with, get this, winding spires of stone), the Gerian Super-Crater (a crater from a massive collision in the planet's past, the current lowest point on the surface)
POPULATION
  • Native Species: N/A
  • Immigrated Species: Humans, Twi'lek, Zabrak
  • Population: Crowded (when compared to amount of available living space, particularly since environment-control is expensive on massive scale)
  • Demographics: Large human presence, what aliens are present are often shunned and beaten by gangs made up of humans
  • Primary Languages: Basic, Belta Lang (dialect of Basic that is hard for outsiders to understand)
  • Culture: Most of the inhabitants waste their lives away mining or gambling, stealing or fighting, drunk or high. Conditions are poor, so the people often work themselves to death. Some more compassionate educated members of the society offer schooling to any children unfortunate enough to be born on the planet, but these school houses are few and far between. Crime is rampant through the streets and disputes are common over simple things like food and water. The corporate militia is cruel, and many compare it to more of a gang than a police force. People work in fear of their lives at every turn.
GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY
  • Government: Economic Oligarchy
  • Affiliation: Ereluf Trading Company, an Outer Rim mining company
  • Wealth: Low Most of the people came to the planet hoping to find wealth, or because they were sent by Ereluf to keep the rabble from rioting. Those that arrived by choice were greeted with poor conditions and little chance of ever leaving. Most had used up much of their money even reaching the barren rock. After many years, the people and their children have grown into the oppression that slowly gripped them harder as they lost sight of what little freedom they had from the start.
  • Stability: Low The common people of the world are unhappy with the ruling company, leaning more towards the rebellious freedom movement, the Belta Mining Accords. The local militia works hard to put down any signs of rebellion, but the Mining Accords work well in the shadows to prepare for war.
  • Freedom & Oppression: People are oppressed by company greed, and poor conditions and upkeep of their habitats lead to health concerns
MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY
  • Military: The military presence is mostly corporate militia. Ereluf Trading offers compensation to act as a police force, and they hire mercenaries to patrol the space nearby, but other than this the military is very limited.
  • Technology: Galactic Standard (though poorly maintained)
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Nearly 300 years prior to current day, a smuggling freighter navigator punched in wrong coordinates for a secret meeting and dropped into the Beltera System. They didn't know what it was at first as no maps of this system existed, so they kept the area in a data card to sell later and flew off to their original meeting place (after fixing the coordinates). About seven months later, an Ereluf surveyor arrived in the system to scan the planets for anything valuable. Most of the planets held resources either too expensive to efficiently mine or too worthless to garner the price of setting up habitats on the uninhabitable surfaces. However, on Beltera II, they discovered large deposits of Quadranium, Durasteel, and Anthracite. Though the third is mostly irrelavent to Ereluf's typical business partners, the other two held great potential, so they began setting up shop. Unfortunately, the tidally-locked planet mixed with a thick, tumultuous atmosphere made for uninhabitable surface conditions. Luckily, the crust of the planet was spongy, for lack of a better description. It's mantle had started to cool, making for a thicker crust than most planets, and the planet's chemical composition made for a very low density for its diameter. This allowed strange but massive cave systems to form, some wide enough to fly ships through without much issue.

However, the walls of the caves had veins of the previously mentioned resources, so Ereluf began setting up a mining operation below the surface. The advertised to unsuspecting poor of the Outer Rim that it would be the next big mining rush and brought in workers from all around. The mining started fine, with new air cleaning systems and mining equipment being brought in for the purpose of creating a sort of settlement among the tunnels. Trains were set up to ferry workers from the mines to the housing area and back, but one had to go above ground or by ship to reach other settlements. Such an endeavor would have been expensive, so few ever left the settlement they started in.

As the machines and air filters began to break down, Ereluf trading began spending less and less to keep the settlements running. If something was broken, they would offer the bare minimum to fix it and get everything running again. This lead to living conditions going down quickly, and standard happiness fell soon after. Many rebellions had sprung up over the past couple hundred years, but none lasted very long. All were quickly overcome by sheer firepower of hired mercenaries and corporate lackeys. The most recent group, calling themselves the Belta Mining Accords, has been wreaking havoc for the past couple years through strategic strikes on shipping and mining ops alike. Ereluf expects to get the rebellion under control soon, but the tactics of the rebels are made more effective by the treacherous overworld and expansive cave systems, allowing them to be hiding anywhere, particularly if they have acquired outside help.

I can move this to live judging when you're ready, though, I can offer a few things before you do.

1.) You're missing the "Permissions" field under Out of Character Information. When it comes to the template you can't remove any fields, but, if they don't apply just write "N/A" in the blank. You can add as many fields as you like though.
2.) I'd suggest hyperlinking "Quadranium" under Exports. Some will know what it is - Some won't.
3.) It may just be a coincidence but there is a heavy Expanse feel to parts of this submission. The living conditions & oppression very much so mimic that of Ceres Station. Instead of being built into an asteroid, the tunnels go into a planet. The references to a "thug-like" corporate police force give a clear nod to Star Helix and the rebellions remind of the OPA. The biggest nod to the Expanse is the fact that the planet is known as "Beltera/Belta" and they speak "Belta Lang" which seems to come from "Belter Creole".
4.) I just realized you're using Camina Drummer, an expanse character, as your face claim as well.
It's a really good start but I would definitely suggest fleshing this out more and making it your own before having it moved to live judging. We all emulate the things we like and want to see it come to life on Chaos, however, this is a little too on the nose. Please review the Codex Rules at your leisure. Especially, the part on "No Crossovers".
At the very least the name of the planet and the language should be updated to something original.
