DESCRIPTION
79 years ago the Berodniyy plant was originally just a ore refinery operating amongst the thousands of other ore refineries. It specialized in making heat resistant plating for starships that allowed easy travel between atmospheres. The original owner, Kirill Berodniyy, had a hobby in creating fire arms. He overheard one of his cousins, a special forces sergeant, speaking about how poor their gear was and how many times it had failed them and gotten someone killed. Being a patriot and a veteran himself, Kirill queried his cousin and his team members about their specific gripes and complaints for their weapons and armor.
Kirill worked for two years perfecting his first piece of work, the 2B42 protective gear load vest, a vast improvement over the simple, heavy metal breast plates the special forces wore. It combined light, flexible materials with blaster resistant armor in just the right places so neither mobility nor protection was sacrificed. After giving it to his team members to test in the field, his cousin's commander got word of this new innovation and after seeing it in use himself, he ordered 200 more for his whole company. Kirill remodeled his plant into a weapons factory, and rebranded himself into a weapons maker.
Since then, the Berodniyy plant has worked closely with special forces units in the Outer Rim, including shadier types, to create specialized armor and weapons just for them.
RATIONALE
The current owner, Afgan Berodniyy, inherited the plant after his father's death in 802 ABY. The old Czelosmertian has taken up his father's interests with great zeal, holding his vision for the plant together through the years. He switched from a mass of workers pumping out weapons to a few specialized designers, special forces advisors, and very skilled weapons and armor crafters. The plant in total has roughly 120 people working for it, as opposed to the 500 when it was an ore processing plant. The plant has no official allegiances, but it might as well say it's a fan favorite of the Czelosmertian armed forces.
