- Mandalorian Iron- Being made of Beskar, the armour plates are naturally highly resistant to lightsaber strikes, blasters, and most energy-based weapons.
- Cortosis Weave- Both the shoulder-cape and undersuit have Cortosis woven onto them in order to increase resistance to lightsaber strikes, blasters and most energy based weapons, albeit to a lesser degree than the Beskar and lacking Cortosis' innate ability to short out lightsabers.
- Synth Weave- Both the shoulder-cape and undersuit are primarily made of Synth Weave, a durable, non-conductive and non-flammable material.
- Thermal Gel- Beskar plates are prone to weapons able to superheat them. In order to combat this effect, the Beskar Plates of this armour are worked with Thermal Gel. This also has a side-effect of providing a limited degree of extra kinetic resistance.
- Maintainability- As is common with most Beskar'gam, this particular piece is separated into a small number of basic, Beskar plates which can be attached, detached, and repaired/replaced with a degree of ease.
- Sonic- The armour possesses only a minimal amount of resistance to Sonic attacks, to the point of almost non-existence. Everything it has is the bare-minimum, side effects of other components and pieces.
- ION/EMP- The armour possesses only a minimal amount of resistance to EMP and ION attacks, to the point of almost non-existence. Everything it has is the bare-minimum, side effects of other components and pieces.
- Stealth- Being made almost entirely of one of the heaviest metals that is still suitable for use in armour, this particular Beskar'gam has very little hopes of being used in any situation reliant upon stealth to any degree.
- Weight- Beskar is one of the heaviest metals one can use to create armour. Even with the minimal application of armour plates favoured by modern Beskar'gam style, the armour is still a hefty piece capable of adding a noticeable amount of weight to the wearer.
- Plates- Modern Beskar'gam plate styling focuses on protection of vital or vulnerable parts of the body. This is effective in most blaster duels, but creates an inefficiency against weapons with a blade or concentrated beam. Joints and exposed areas of the undersuit offer limited protection against sustained attacks, primarily effective against glancing, or momentary contact.
The Beskar'gam of Volo Dragr is, like most true & pure Beskar'gam, not created for him. It was the armour of his father, his father's father, his father's father's father, and so on. Passed down, generation to generation, parts added and removed with each bearer. Amongst modern armour, and indeed, modern Beskar'gam, it might be considered outdated. An artefact. It lacks a HUD, any high-tech system or even a rangefinder.
The genius of the armour lies in it's simplicity. It does not waste effort attempting to be stealthy, or prepared for every conceivable circumstance. It protects against the most common threats a Mandalorian could face, with some added insurance against the uncommon as well. Aside from the obvious nature of the Beskar, it was worked with Thermal Gel to enhance it's kinetic resistance, a property much more desirable when most of your life is spent fighting and hunting animals in the Jungles of Rishi, as Clan Skaigh has. This Thermal Gel also protects against superheating of the metal, not making it immune but slowing the process.
Beskar plates cover the front and back of the thighs and lower legs, as well as on the dorsum of the foot, with pads attached to the front of the knee. Similar covering is applied to the upper and lower arm, as well as the shoulder, elbow and dorsum of the hand, all in addition the obvious helmet, torso and pelvic pieces. The Beskar'gam is unique in it's arsenal, however, and the complexity of it. Upon the left vambrace are a stun gauntlet, a grappling line and a set of Whistling Birds. On the right vambrace is the armour's control panel, accompanied by a flamethrower, a wrist rocket launcher and a single-shot wrist laser.
Both vambraces are attached to traditional Mandalorian Crushgaunts, with a secondary, not-so-traditional, placement of Whistling Birds on the plate of the left-knee. The torso is fairly standard, with a shoulder harness for a rifle, as well as ammunition. There is a standard belt around the waist for various implements and ammunition. The helmet possesses basic thermal vision and night vision, as well as a basic circuit capable of basic, remote vehicle control.
The Beskar'gam of Clan Skaigh is brilliantly simple.
