Beyond the Sunset

After a conversation with Jessica and the invasion of Mirial, Jairdain had expressed interest in learning about military strategies. No matter how much study one did could never fully prepare them for actual battle, but she wanted to know as much she could before that happened.

The knight walked down the shelves, holding her device up that read to her. It would tell her what was written or typed out. At the moment, Jairdain was alone in this area and could freely take whatever she wanted to look at in peace.

Her time with the sith had changed more than one thing about her. One thing that did stick around was wearing pants. The thought of going back to wearing a full length robe like she had was not something she did often. If she needed to look formal for something, she understood and would do so. However, for every day wear, she wore pants now. They were black along with her boots. Her top was different though. It was off the shoulders and had actual bird feathers along the top and on her sleeves. She wore her hair down and it hung down her back with a small amount resting on her shoulders.

Gathering into her arms a small selection of books, she went to go find a place where she look through them. Deciding since she was the only one in the area, she could sit at the table instead of a chair provided off at the side. Setting the books down, Jairdain stretched for a moment, pulled the seat and sat down. Laying the books out, she scanned them with her device and picked the one that sounded the most interesting.

She wasn't far into it when the sound of somebody approaching reached her ears and she set down both the book and device to look up.

A few hours, and the last of his men would be shipped off the surface of Voss in preparation for the voyage back home to Alliance space. Despite the insistence of his senior officers, the vice admiral had delayed return to the bridge of his command ship until his soldiers were back on board their motherships and under the care of Defense Force personnel. Still, Zark had led his troops into a losing battle, and could not bring himself to face them quite yet as they waited for their extraction camped nearby at the Army of Light airfield.

Instead, the Jedi Knight had sought the private solace and comfort of touring some of the capital's more renowned institutions. One of his first stops had been the local archives, keen to inspect the Silver Jedi repository for artifacts unique to the Order and teachings of the far galactic east. He had been born not so far away in the Dubrillion system, and even trained nearby, but this was Zark's first time on Voss, and while he was wallowing in grief and self-doubt, the scholar in him figured he might as well make the most of it.

When he realized the library was not deserted, it occurred to the Alliance officer for the first time what a curious sight he must make. By now having had occasion to change out of his battle worn combat armor, his standard issue officers' battledress nonetheless was an oddity on the streets of Voss. This far towards the Tingel Arm, most sentients probably only recognized his apparel from the HoloNet. Self-consciously, the Knight did his best not to distract [member="Jairdain"] as he approached the section nearby where she was seated on various Jedi combat philosophies.

"Pardon me, ma'am," he apologized in his best library tone, noticing with only mild consternation that the woman who he presumed to be a Silver Jedi acolyte had picked out some of the more noteworthy choices of the archive's selection already. It seemed that he was not the only student of battle meditation planetside, Zark mused as he passed by to make due with examining what remained on the shelves.

She had already noticed him approaching through the Force so when he spoke, it didn't surprise her greatly. Giving him a polite smile, he might notice her eyes didn't focus on him. If he could feel it through the Force though, her attention was on him.

"I'm a little surprised another person is in this particular part of the archives with me. So few seem to know the true value of certain skills and thought ideas."

Basic was not her native tongue and she had a slight accent in her words. Her accent would be unique and one he had likely never heard before. He seemed older, wiser and held his emotions in well. She could pick up very little off him. Maybe a little bit of curiosity at the fact somebody else was looking at these books, but not much beyond that.

"I am Jairdain Ismet. If there are any of these books or items you want to look at, I picked out more than I actually need right now."

Her hand would motion to other items on the table near to the one her little reader device was resting on.
