- All Weather - Built using Westar technology, the BHSR-1 can fire even while submerged in water and, to a limited degree, covered in mud. Furthermore, the scope and internals utilize starship de-icing technology to prevent freezing in arctic climates once activated, as well as a CryoBan cell coolant system for heated environments.
- Sem-Auto - Limited to semi-auto to prevent overheating and reduce coolant consumption.
- Length - The BHSR-1 is longer than the average blaster carbine, being a full length rifle. This may prove unwieldly in some CQB environments.
The BHSR-1 was a service rifle designed for the Galactic Alliance Defense Forces and manufactured by the Black Hand Rifle Company as part of a trial for new military contracts with the Alliance. The Black Hand Collective was a Mandalorian company and faction active in the Mandalore sector, whose CEO and leader had numerous interactions with the Jedi, including the training of her adoptive daughter Jademar Eurisa, a brief alliance with Jedi Master Valery Noble, and her previous apprentice Iris Arani, who once saved the life of the CEO's only biological daughter.
Due to this extended history, the CEO of Black Hand Rifle Company became part of an effort to see continued cooperation between the alliance and Mandalore, including the creation of a new service rifle intended for use by the defense force.
It had all the hallmarks of a Mandalorian weapon, though externally it featured a sleek and modernized design with the intention of impressing the more civilized alliance bureaucracy. It fired golden particle beams capable of serious damage to living tissue and hard targets, such as imperial armor and droid combatants, but also featured a stun setting and an included optic not typically seen on mandalorian designs due to the plethora of onboard systems found in their armor.
