Having a father terrified of droids created some problems when one was in the market for a nanny droid. He could have got a real,live sentient, yes. However, given the problems with Mrs. Datos in the past, Makai didn't want to risk an information leak regarding his family. Or worse - an insider kidnapping attempt. Having a sentient know the sensitive details of a home layout or schedule of either himself or his wife could create problems. Not that a droid couldn't be hacked or manipulated, but with their black-and-white thinking, motivations for turning on their charge was less. No chances were to be taken.

After much research and a lot of digging, he came across the Xantha Class Nanny Biot. It seemed to be what they needed ; a droid that had the appearance of a human. Beyond that, he didn't know much. Ideally the droid could be customized to contain connections to the Dark-Net created by his late father-in-law along with proprietary droid brains and technology to ATC.

So, hoping they had found what they needed with some months to spare, Makai found himself on Denon to getting a custom biot made. Or at least a biot made where the customization could occur at PharmaTech.

Entering the large tower, he was greeted with an expansive lobby and typical front desk reception.

Denon was beautiful despite what many would think.. the other districts were filled with crime, grime and dangers it was true but the last one... the Upcity as it came to be known had been the start of something once upon a time. An attempt with the Republic to on a smaller scale improve the quality of life for the people.. if it could work here.. they could do such a thing on Coruscant... self sustaining modules for the buildings... clean air, water and food production on top of advances in their technological prowess... it was a dream and Upcity being the only place it was incorporated showed how far it had went but it had helped provide a framework for other worlds where it had been used and worked on to help the poeple.

The tower being at the heart of the district was a thing of sheer size along with the rest as the interior could shift with the aterno system... making room in places where certain ones were not designated as important. Matsu visited it from time to time as the temple here on Denon for the jedi was hidden in the old science academy and the entertainment district was invaluable to the economy here hosting one of the hubs and sites of the invisible market where corporations and those who didn't worry about credits bought plenty. The Concierge Model biot there at reception to greet people as he spoke. "Welcome, come this way."

Guiding the way, the lift doors formed to go up as he bowed. "She is in her lab at the top, one of the few rooms that doesn't shift around." The biot said it and indicated as the corner had an Iron Maidens Biot standing tall but putting the floor in. "If you need anything just speak and the request will be heard." Closing the doors and leaving it as the biot remained there but wasn't set up to be intimmidating or a threat... it was just there for helping and security purposes as the doors opened revealing the larger labs. Several biots walking around and an Economic Management Biot that was looking over things while a blue skinned Entanglement Biot was communicating.

The jedi master herself standing there as two things were suspended in the air at the center of the room they were all looking at and adjusting. Twin Fastbreeder Biots there as they were going from a solo stance in combat to combined. THeir hands grasping, and legs interlocking for a moment as the materia of their hair formed wheels and a seat another biot was able to slip into. The weapon systems activating for the combat biots to form a speeder and rider. The jedi master turning back around while she looked at Makai and gave a nod motioning for him to be able to come over with a small grin. "Welcome Mr. Dashiell to Denon and one of our main research facility."

Makai walked through the halls, being escorted to what he learned was the research room after the fact. It seemed Miss Ike was deep into her work, which he could respect. It was already a blessing she fit him into her schedule so he could ask his questions and get any concerns addressed.

With a nod, he was beckoned closer and he did so, crossing the small space between them as what he assumed were the biots continued to move about and go through their own testing.

"Miss Ike, thank you for taking time out of your schedule to see me. I shouldn't keep you long, just a few questions and I wanted to see the biots in action for myself."

Ensuring they didn't look overtly like droids was his top concern. So far, he likened them to an HRD only a bit more seamless. Promising thus far and he hoped it would pan out today.

She gave a nod. "Of course, we are always up for answering questions." There was a smile on her face while she walking and the room was large enough. "We have plenty of different biot models as you have seen just a small portion of them and are developing newer models every day. From security to personal care to incorporating the technology for ships and vehicles which will give them a quasi sentience and mind for protecting themselves or automating a lot more systems if needed. It helps make smaller crews able to use some of the larger vessels we have built without some risks." She said it and shifting a hand as the wall projected displays and began to pull up different models. "Now lets see what kind of biot you would like and we will make it happen."

"Some risks like the vessel developing a mind of its own and going rogue?"

Sounded like something out of a horror holofilm. Not too far out the realm of possibilities either, given how droid armies were a thing. Not as advanced as a biot or symbiote system though. Yet he didn't have to dwell on the possibilities of vessel takeover as Matsu Ike pulled up a display of models available to choose from. As she flipped through, it was clear they weren't quite on the same page. Miss Ike had much grander ideas than he was thinking.

"Just a nanny droid biot. I am in need of one that can meet two requirements. First, it looks more sentient which given what biots I see here today, it shouldn't be an issue. Second, I need the ability to send the biot to PharmaTech on Fondor for modification. I will need the biot to have some proprietary systems placed. Nothing major, certain communication systems. Various databases."

A small pause.

"Are they customizable in such a nature? Nothing would need to be changed outwardly beyond sentient facing."

"That only happened once... since then though we have worked to improve the design... namely the biot functions like a co-pilot and aids the operator being able to micromanage without being in full control. An AI assistance on a slightly better scale aand eventually it has the potential to adapt to the operator.. and act like a security system in its own right." She said it and flipping as he brought up what was needed and she didn't pause. her fingers flexing and shifting it from the models to a more open on that was recording his specifications. The image shifting and she gave a nod of her head. "They have slots within them for upgrades that can be added. Some of the newer models have better incorporation tech for upgrades." She was looking at it and grinned. "A Nanny droid merits congratulations. Do you have a specific look that you would like the biot to have? Haair, eye, skin coloring. Scars, or birthmarks?" She said it and the image moved as it became more a model that was suspended in the air in between them. "Body shape and size or other things. I understand some enjoy feline ears being there randomly."

Makai blinked a few moments. He didn't expect to have to customize a droid on the spot to hair coloring and things of that nature. Beyond having a female-facing bot, he hadn't thought much beyond the appearance. He was more concern with ensuring the bot would blend in easily and be customizable to the needs he had.

"Oh...maybe just a standard Hapan looking woman? College age? Should blend in easily enough, I don't want something that looks like an outright threat. So just a standard, college age au pair."

His thinking was opposite of some ; if the biot looked like a young woman then if an attack was to happen, the opposing forces wouldn't automatically take her out first as say a true bodyguard droid would. It would give a chance to get away and take the child with her, then deal with the threat if pursued. A small strategy considering the child was the priority here.

"You will deliver the biot directly to PharmaTech or will I need to arrange something?"

"Blending will not be a problem, we can deliver just it will take time. These are grown after all." She said it and was bringing up what information she could for him. "We can start the process now with everything finalized. Within a week the biot will be in the first stage whihc is when we install the initial programming. At three weeks they will be able to come out of the tank and will spend a week or so acclimating aand getting used to their body. Nutritional needs are handled with a built in converter as opposed to having to come back for specialized enzymes. FOr the nanny models while they blend easily enough they are usually outfitted with built in weapons to defend the charge or charges."

"Uh...wouldn't growing them so quickly cause problems in the future? I'm looking for something to last. I can't say I want pieces of skin falling off the nanny biot and my kid screaming in terror."

Naturally, he suspected these things only lasted so long. With PharmaTech he could count on top-notch maintenance. Thirty-Seven looked practically brand new thanks to the regular tune ups and concern for the droid taken. Biots would be a little different but he was confident the pay offs would be worth it, especially when it came to keeping his fathers phobia at bay.

Brow furrowed, trying to remember what he knew about cloning and if growing a biot was similar. His specialty was geology and oceanography, all of these modifications were well beyond his scope.

"Much like a fast-grown clone has problems, no? Or is it because they are basically droids that the growth rate will not reflect in how long the biot will last? I'm not expecting forever and modifications will have to occur through the years..."

"Quite the opposite actually, nearly a month is considered overly long for most purposes even a new model that is being made." She said it while motioning to the other biots around them. "Most of these can be produced in a matter of hours or less. As they can be copied and some can even self replicate and repair. We have developed the materia and most of our materials to have a self restoring property which makes them last longer and with our new sub-atomic power plants they can in theory last as long as the universe does since they are powered by dark energy." She said it more matter of factly while bringing up various specs. "As for the skin coming off... well depending on what systems you wish to keep most have all of the standard systems to function long after we pass on and they will only get better with time as they can adapt their own systems. If major damage occurs we have a few repair options. The new repair buddy pin it will fix the biots or other equipment, the rhion repair and upgrade seed or they have their own self repair and conversion system that will convert debris and raw matter to function for themselves."

"Oh...Okay. You are the expert."

Makai still didn't think hours or days was really viable but then again, he knew nothing to little in the way of the cloning industry. Even less in the field of biots and ensuring droids looked like humans. Coupled with the technology from ATC, Makai was certain that the biot would blend more human than droid, ensuring his father wouldn't have a freakout if they dropped off baby and biot over for a visit.

"Good to know there are plans for major damage, one can never been too careful within the current climate of the galaxy. I'll be sure to keep lines of communication open as a fail safe. If this is it....then I suppose I can leave you back to your research. I can leave the details of the PharmaTech facility wirh your assistant. "

"We try to plan for anything that might be able to happen in most situations..... and some that might not be thought about. Though when it comes to children there is a lot more that can happen. Mine often found themselves in places no one expected." She said it with a little grin on her face while moving and adjusting it to finalize everything.. the computer generating the image of a hapan woman. "Personality wise they will be dedicated to the childbut you will be able to program in key phrases to override in the event of damage or if a situation could have them acting different then what you have planned. THey should be able to provide information in case something is not known to the initial plan." She finished it and moved the files off the screen with the hardlight. "Just put in your signature and the information as required. The process will be soon enough and we'll use whichever facility is closest to your initial location to reduce travel time."

"I figured your personality programming can be tweaked a bit and should mesh well with what we are trying to do. I have no doubts the biot will be completely dedicated to the child, and in the future, the children. Sasori has never produced sub-par products to my knowledge."

The company had been around long before he was even born. Didn't stay that way if the products were just trash. Far too many droid and robotics companies to compete with.

Moving to the screen, he signed his name and entered the information on where the droid was to be shipped upon completion. Payment was to be made here as well. Normally a custom made item only got fifty percent payment but he went ahead and paid in full, unconcerned that the product wouldn't be delivered.

Business done, he moved to shake Matsu Ike 's hand.

"Appreciate you listening to my concerns."

She shook his hand and bowed her head. "Thank you for thinking of us when you want products." She said it and well his compliment was nice... their lower end products though were still in some cases higher end then others while she was walking. "And if there is anything else you might need or want... we have just started work on the a few things for the upcoming auction from SSB. Our Swag Bag should entice a few new customers I hope." She said it while leading the way towards the lift as one of the Ardana Nal Biots came by standing at her chest. "Oh and look who has grown." She said it as the four legged biot moved with its armored humanoid body and she placed a hand on it. "One of our other models, they use abominator technologies we reverse engineered allowing them to get larger as they consume more material so they can become protectors of some outer colonies."
