Black Hole Suns

Cryax Bane was on the move in Nar Shadaa. The streets bustling with glit-biters and working girls, he hurried into an abandoned warehouse that doubled as a drug den. The poor souls who sprawled lifelessly around the place had seen the slicer there before and knew that the young Chiss wasn't there to narc on them or cause them trouble. He just needed privacy.

He flopped down against the wall in the corner and attacked his Datapad like a demon. He was attempting to breach the Holospace of one of the most notorious gangs in the galaxy, and he knew once he was in, he'd have to physically move locations again. The Black Suns had pretty fail safe ways of finding people in a hurry. So it was gonna be slice, run, rinse, repeat.

Cryax had already cracked the first level of their networks back at Vertigo, but had several more skins of this virtual onion to peel back. Time for Act Two. Now that he was in, he installed a Backdoor that he had programmed himself on their Holonet. This was a little risky. Ok, it was alot risky, but this job called for extreme measures. Besides the best thing about “Little Brother” was that his software didn’t leave a trace. You literally had to catch him in the act of slicing in to see evidence of his work.

Little Brother was going to be his coup de grace to the Black Suns network and the Chiss was confident he’d have that location that the Ravens needed in no time.

((open to Red Ravens and Black Suns))

Of all the jobs I could have gotten it was this one.

Standing among the people who were so drunk it looked like they were dead, I decided to ask the question, "You choose here instead of some more secure place?" I shook my head as in my left hand was a five foot long Echani Vibrosword. Really that was the only visible weapon that was apparent to the Chiss slicer. Despite the fact that I was more for battle, I was here defending the man should other Black Sun operatives find him. Or anyone try to disturb him. I moved to the table next to him. Literally seeing a half nude girl laying down on the other side of the booth, with a drunk man slobbering all over her naked chest. Taking the half filled glass of liquor, I splashed it on the two.

The woman got up, looked at me, and then groggily got up and slumped over to fall out of the seat with the man now on top of her. Still drooling. Now that was a sad sight. "Great place to be for a slicer and a guard right?"

[member="Cryax Bane"]

Cryax involuntarily jumped at the sound of his fellow Raven's voice. The jumpy Chiss had been so completely engrossed in his codebreaking, he hadn't even noticed the silver-haired man come in. He knew that Lysle was sending backup and this must be it. He smiled up for the man, grateful for the protection, even if he was abusing the scumbags that inhabited the space. The Ravens really took care of their own, thought Cryax as he eyeballed the Echani's vibrosword.

"Just don't say that I never take you anywhere nice," Cryax quipped. "I just need a little more time. But just to warn you, we'll need to be on the move again soon."

He feverishly analyzed the numbers and lines that Little Brother was feeding him. There was an exploit in there somewhere, the brilliant Chiss just needed to find it. He talked as he sliced, head still down, fingers still flying.

"The name's Bug. And you are...?"

[member="Darren Shaw"]

I rolled my eyes at the man. Taking me somewhere nice? if he wanted nice then I could have told him to go to the Dragon casino back at "home." That was a better place than this. Speaking his callsign, And asking me for mine, I smiled. Really I had not come up with one yet. The thought of making one seemed stupid to me. Yes Ravens wanted to be in secret, but I really didn't care what someone called me.

There was some silence when I finally answered him. "I go by Andras Caim." It was a liable name. Andras. The name of a Fallen angel with a Raven head. Ironic, yet fit the bill. As well as the name of Caim. Another fallen angel, only this time is seen as a man with a single sword. Might as well use both in a full name rather than just one or the other.

[member="Cryax Bane"]

Well, he could see that humor was lost on the man. But whatever. This Andras fellow was here to protect the Chiss, not make small talk, and he didn't want to get off on the wrong foot with the stoic Raven, especially one who carried such an exotic blade.

He heard a pinging sound from coming from his Datapad. Little Brother had found a way in. This was very promising. The Chiss uninstalled his software and went back to manually slicing. Now that Little Brother had found the chink in the Holonetwork's armor, Cryax could do the rest of the work himself and this was the part that gave him the biggest thrill. He loved going places he knew he didn't belong.

Wouldn't be long now before he had that warehouse location.

[member="Darren Shaw"]

Taking off her helmet for a bit of a break. Having the ones under her working like banthanas on getting the cargo line up for the next ships to come dock upon the warehouse. This was one of the biggest warehouse in the district that she was working in today. Not minding being the over seer. After this came so natural to the blonde. Seeing all these men below her working their ass off a joy to her own sight. Which was brightly lighted up from having to upgrade the system with the network that ran on its own mother board. After all one couldn't take any chances now days.

Walking slowly along the last of the cargo, knowing that the ships that was coming in was already 5 minutes behind. Finding this not to her liking would give those captains of the ships a good butt chewing when they showed up. Waking in her heavy combat boots but still her armor showing off that she was a very much one very easy on the eyes. Her very blue eyes getting lost in the list that was being ship out with what goods where going where and how much and also the money that they was worth on the black market.

"Yes I said over there those are going on the Easy Street Rider when every the captain decide to get his ship there.", which was really puzzling to her as that was the one captain that she didn't have to worry about not being on time. How every every did have their times when they would have something go wrong like any other ship in the galxay could she guess but that still didn't make her to happy.

"Well you just tell me when "Bug" is here, I'm going to, uh, check the place out." This was a lie of course and Sebastion headed straight for the bar and women. "Give me a round of rum barkeep, it's going to be a long night." Sebastion was looking around the bar for anything unusual, though looking for a Black Sun in a bar is like looking for a Jedi with a sense of humour, not easy.

On the world below Rayl resided in the offices of his station. As head of security for Black Sun it was his duty to quell all threats and seek them out before they became a problem, or eliminate them if they already were. His fingers tapped away, writing out a report for the security network running The Maw. The recent breach by several persons needed to be plugged so no one in the future will ever get so far to restricted space.

Beeping drowned out his thought. A holoimage appeared after he accepted the communication. One of the men from the intelligence agency. "Lord Wilded, we've a breach in our Holonet system. A Slicer has broken in, we're running all countermeasures. Its not stopping him though"!

Rayl's eyes narrowed. "Do you have a location n this Slicer"? Anger burned behind his eye lids. Another brazen attack on Black Sun. After months of relative quiet things were taking a turn. Whether this rising tide could be contained was a question he wished could be answered sooner than time would reveal. Facing facts they wouldn't be action would need to be taken, a show of force and breaking backs.

"Nar Shaddaa. Over Sector 16. We've locking down to a more accurate fix as we speak. So long as he keeps in connection, we can get the trace". The intelligence officer looked away a moment. Pausing before continuing. "If we can't keep him from getting pas the Roche Limit. Shall we crash the system"?

"If he does, do so. We need his location first though. I want his head. Keep me updated, and patch in to the agent network and keep us updated". Rayl nodded to the man. Cutting the transmission afterwards. Springing into action; Rayl looped his belt around his waist. Throwing his coat on and running out the door without so much as quick saving his document! Taking the quickest path to his Starfighter he sent out the call to his agents. A Spec Ops squad was also readying to take the trip up to the moon. It may be a Republic world, but the security of this nation now comes before incidents that may arise. If they were even caught with all the trade traffic that happens in this sector. he well hoped to not have a chat with some Senator over this.

Rayl ran full force out the door to the murky cloud dimmed light. Barely clearing through as the door was only quick enough to allow his exit. The roof hanger held a few craft to suit the needs. His personal was here. In just minutes he'd be across the straight and on the moon, and the hunt.

Versafunction88 Datapad Designation: Licia's Home Computer
Status: Active

In a lone apartment of the Corellian Sector, Nar Shaddaa, a personal datapad began to boot up. And no one was home. Systems slowly churned, the datapad powering up. The screen activated and let out a radiating glow that illuminated the darkened room. The person who was home was no where to be seen. Perhaps at work or having some fun in a nearby pub or nightclub. Spook was using this datapad to slice into the Black Suns network. They would trace it back to this apartment, and find no one. It was a procedure he thought necessary to keep them off his trail, and something he'd been using on the Republic to keep them distracted. Where there were computers, there were safeguards. Passwords, retinal scanners, fingerprint scanners, and voice-recognition were among these. These safeguards were programs that protected a persons personal data and unauthorized use of the computer, but programs could be made to find glitches, introduce viruses, spy-ware, and ways to get around those safeguards. The screen began to pour data as Spook remotely and simultaneously sliced the datapad to slice the Black Sun security network.

struct group_info init_Black.Sun = { .usage = HOLONET_INIT(2) };

struct Black.Sun_info *groups_alloc(int gidsetsize){

struct group_info *Black.Sun_info;
int nblocks;
int i;

/* Make sure we always allocate at least one indirect block pointer */
nblocks = nblocks ? : 1;
group_info = kmalloc(sizeof(*Black.Suns_info) + nblocks*sizeof(gid_t *), GFP_USER);
if (!group_info)

Bingo. He downloaded the Suns warehouse location to his personal Datapad. This is where he'd normally start scrubbing all his data, reverse-engineering the code so that all traces of his digital footprint would vanish. But he didn't think there was time. This invasion was likely to have set off alarm bells in the Suns network and they were possibly counter-slicing to find out where he was, although he wasn't entirely sure.

The Chiss sprang to his feet and motioned to Andras to follow him. "Hey, um, Andras," he fumbled around for the name of the silver-haired warrior. "We gotta move. There's a bar nearby called The Nexu's Den. We're gonna have to hoof it there unfortunately."

He hoped he could do a bit of slicing along the way, but more likely not, as he'd be literally watching out for his hide. Luckily there were other Raven slicers standing by to remotely assist with the job as well as more backup waiting at the Den.

The Chiss bolted for exit of the makeshift drug den, every cell in his body screaming. He stopped and made sure that Andras was following as he'd definitely need the Echani's protection tonight.

The Chiss told Sebastion that they were en route to the rendezvous at the bar. "I'll go prep the ship to leave, it should be ready by the time you guys reach here." He walked over to the transport and began preparing it, entering the coordinates in the Nav-comp, making sure it was ready to fly. After the ship was ready for lift off, Sebastion sat nearby it having a few last swigs of his drink.

Colap was at the Nexus den waiting for the pair. As Sergeant at Arms he had a lot of jobs to juggle but had found it quite alright to take a break and return to the field. He was clad in his normal sivler armor with the catlike blue eyes and his Westar-35 pistol at his belt.

Colap was somehwat an anonymous figure to the outsiders as he did not share his true name all that much. When he went to places he had a fake ID that identified him as Cole Tike. From the corner of the place he watched the door and scanned the surroundings for threats. So far nothing seemed oddly out of place. It was a standard setup here, a couple Black Sun bouncers and few thugs ere here enjoying themselves, but that was not a threat unless they took notice of the Ravens presence here.

Colap opened his Crypt net channel to the two and spoke softly inside his helmet.

"Where you gentlemen at? When you come in be discreet we have suns up in the joint."

The high-strung Chiss hurried down the streets of Nar Shaddaa. He had lost sight of his Echani bodyguard, but he assumed that the warrior had dropped back so as not to be too conspicous. After run-walking down a few nail-biting blocks, the slicer came upon his next location: The Nexu's Den. Over the Cryptnet a fellow Red Raven had warned him that the bar was crawling with Black Suns, so when he got into proximity of the Den, he slowed his pace to seem less frantic upon entering.

The inside of the bar was a shock to his system, hot, crowded and claustrophobic. He willed himself to calm down and walked as casually as he could towards his Red Ravens associates, [member="Colap Ticon"] and [member="Sebastion Wulfsorrow"]. In a low shaky voice, he appraised them of the situation.

"The first part of the job is done. I've got the location and I'm sending it to Lysle as we speak. There's a decent chance they know where I am and might even be tailing me, but either way, I have to spoof my location now." His eyes searched for a private spot, the men's bathroom maybe? He didn't relish the thought of dying slumped over some toilet. Maybe there was another way.

[member="Lysle of the Hydian Way"]

[member="Cryax Bane"]

Colap nodded, keeping his head on a swivel for trouble as Cryax spoke. There was plenty of hidey holes all around the bar and he had scouted each table to ascertain what tactical advantage it could hold if things popped off. It really didn't matter what they did now. What mattered was that he had to extract Cryax from the planet in one piece and soon.

"Alright there's a booth at the back corner. Here's what we're going to do. Both of us will walk up to the bar order a drink and head back there. I'll cover you while you work, but we don't have a lot of time so let's make it quick."

Colap walked towards the bar, keeping aware of his surroundings. No one really noticed the pair as they didn’t openly display any sigils.

"You got it chief," Cryax nodded at his fellow Raven, grateful for more backup. He stalked over to the back booth. Slowly. Easy now. He was just another guy with a Datapad, doing some light business, or maybe some Holonet shopping. There was little notice of his nervousness now save for an eye twitch. And of course his sweaty palms.

He hunched over his Datapad. Cryax was already in the Suns Holospace and he couldn't tell if he had been detected. They hadn't crashed the system yet so that was a good sign. He went right to work on spoofing his location. It wasn't an easy slice and he didn't have anything like Little Brother to help him. This battle was purely Chiss wit against Black Sun code. If he was successful, he would it would ping them a false location, Nar Shaddaa's biggest Spaceport, a place so large and packed with people that they could end up wasting hours searching for him.

Airal smiled at the other woman that she casually walked up to. It was a slow day and well she was bored. Under all of this normal cargo was her illicit goods and well she liked to make sure they made it on board to be shipped. "Hello there, no everyday I see an overseer so outfitted for a fight, afraid of something?" She smirked her sharp teeth showing as she did. " Everything moving along? if there are any chinks in the warehouse let me know, I will ensure it doesn't happen again. " She ran this warehouse. It was source of her budding arms trade. Airal sure liked guns. She chuckled and leaned against a rail watching the men with a predatory gaze.

Wendy had been told the news and now as she stood there with her sabe ron her hip and a sonic shotgun in her hands she moved to go and help Rayl. The man had been good to them he deserved to be helped.. at least until Miss Domino said don't help him and go back to meditating. She held the shotgun at the ready prepared to fight force users and worked to calibrate it for humans and humanoids at high settings. She knew how to handle her saber and defend if needed plus she was their healer.

[member="Ariella"] [member="Airal Thamne"]

Rayl plunged his fighter into the moons atmosphere. Blazing a trail through the skies to sector 16, and ignoring all protocols. He needed some organization to happen. Aeiella was supposed to be on world running an operation. She'd need to be his ground forces until back up could come. She'd have enough thugs to do so. Patching though to the network he frequencied straight to Ariela's comm. "Arialla. Its Rayl. We've a situation. Slicer attack on the holo network. They're in your sector; 16. Drop whatever you're doing, grab your men and weapons. Patch into intelligence and they'll have our pinpointed location soon".

Rayl dipped his craft down, hitting the reverse thrusters for a quick landing on an empty pathway. Tripping the keys immediately powered down the ship. He was in a rush now. Pocketing them as the cockpit opened. "Wendy, where are you"? She should be around here somewhere. Rayl climbed up to sit on the edge; slipping down and landing with a knee.

The datapad remained alone in the apartment. No one around to switch it off and force Spook back a step. As he began his work, he found something begin burrowing through the Black Sun security systems. He didn't wait to backtrace the slicer, knowing it was Bug. The other man who was the primary slicer for the job. Spook acted as backup if anything went wrong, and then another two slicers were on hold in the event anything went real bad. He didn't try and penetrate the network on his own, choosing to follow Bug straight through the black hole in the suns network. Nothing shoved him out, but systems were alerted. He could read the programs activating at a dozen different locations, by two dozen different individuals. They were looking for them. And they found Bug, he could see his location, then he vanished. He was out of the system. And only Spook remained as a spectre of data. He began to comb through the lines of information, all the while working to call Bug. He would begin to transmit a message through the Black Sun communication network, hoping to divert attention away from the main team. The communication piece belonging to Colap would begin to vibrate as an incoming call came in. If he answered, Spook would say;

"They know where you are."

There was the problem with running an operation in someone's backyard, they had the home-field advantage, friendly neighbors that knew them, and a gun cabinet withing easy reach. And while 'Bug' wasn't worried about people thinking he was a narc, he should have been worried about people narcing on him, like when he said where he was going in the middle of a room full of people desperate for creds and a long history with the Suns. People that knew those scary people always paid their debts, good or bad.

The Sangromancer was roaring out of Domino's personal hanger as soon as they knew the hack was coming from Nar Shaddaa, by the time they were landing they had definite word of a second slicer at work. One that apparently thought that he couldn't be traced through an off-the-shelf data pad he was using as a router, because that trick wasn't millennia old even before the Old Republic fell. Hopefully none of them thought they were going to get governmental data, Domino would hate to have to explain to the two of them that even the most basic of security procedures had sensitive information on closed networks and dedicated hardlines. Not public holonets. "Have all military codes switched to personal verification, and put local weapons and infrastructure on manual. I want a complete disconnect from digital space." Which meant that anonymous codes wouldn't do diddly if the organics there didn't receive a direct order from someone they recognized that had codes and counter-phrases that had only ever existed in hardcopy locked in secret safes.

Minutes later and the local info networks had paid off some poor druggie and had The Nexu's Den passed up the pipeline. Rather than land somewhere and have to travel, the Sangromancer simply flew there and popped open a side hatch a few hundred meters above the sidewalk. The red light of the airlock poured out into the night and briefly illuminated a figure dropping away from the ship. A jetpack flared blue a few times to slow the falling figure until they lightly set down on a roof ledge opposite the club. "Rayl, Wendy, let me know when you're close and I'll shut things down. I want them alive so lets not tip them off too early." Domino had taken a personal interest in this latest threat, the Red Hawks seemed desperate for her attention, she'd show them why she'd been merciful to ignore them to this point.
