Armor worn by the Bloodscrawl Family who defended Ession during the Gulag Era, their numbers had been badly whittled down by the pressure of the chaos that threatened Ession's civilization, disease, attacks by Sith, and frequent scrutiny by the Ashlan Crusaders of that era out of suspicion they were concealing a lost Light Side Superweapon (They were). When Elaine Tear confronted the Bloodscrawl Family at their Castle in the Nightingale Plains, they were at a fraction of their former strength, and despite the hundred strong remaining members of the family badly outnumbered by the small army of Crusaders Elaine brought, they were all prepared to die rather than disclose their secret. The Bloodscrawls put up a ferocious fight, each killing or maiming for life dozens and dozens of Crusaders, but eventually, with the sole exception of Nathan himself, no Bloodscrawl survived Elaine's March on the Castle.
The Bloodscrawls would have the last laugh over Elaine and the Ashlan's, however. Neither Elaine or her Crusaders were ever able to locate any trace of the superweapon's location, and Elaine had acted without the authority of the Kaissereich of that era. Combined with the outrage of Ession's leadership at the slaughter and the severe public outcry towards Elaine herself, nearly every Crusader who participated in the Massacre of The Bloodscrawls had their career ended and reputation tarnished and only Elaine expressing genuine remorse for the Massacre spurred Ession's Leadership choosing to exile her rather than kill her, as before this incident she had an otherwise sterling reputation, which never fully recovered because of this horror. Only years of trying to atone allowed her to return to Ession, and even then the Leadership made certain to give her only express, written permission to return on the condition she was never to persecute another loyal Light Adept ever again. Elaine's attempts to atone would be undone by Nathan Bloodscrawl when he anonymously revealed her traveling arrangements to the Cult, who would transform her into the murderous Witch called The Battalion. These rare suits of armor can occasionally be found in long hidden Ancient safe houses on Ession, though a few ended up in the hands of private collectors, others being held in the treasuries of Ashlan Priests. Their distinctive horns are derived from styles of armor made on Ancient Ession, the red symbol on the torso section is the family crest of The Bloodscrawls, known as the Fanged Chevron
