STRENGTHS
  • Modular: Like other Loci Strike Frigates, the Blue Wave is exceptionally modular, letting it be easily reconfigured to better its offensive, defensive, and propulsion systems based on the need and availability of modules.
  • Rescue Ship: The Blue Wave has been rebuilt as a rescue ship, trading almost all of its weapons for tractor beam projectors to help move damaged ships and obstacles around - effectively making it a very efficient space tug. One of its company-sized troop barracks have been turned into a droid bay that houses droids to help repair or man damaged ships, while the other barracks has been converted into automated medical suite to treat survivors.
  • AI run: The Blue Wave is entirely automated, taking Lacerti Automation System's abilities to the max. The ship's collective personalities are often described as "adventurous" by other members of the Directorate fleet, ideal for a ship dedicated to tirelessly plying the stars in search of peoples to rescue.
WEAKNESSES
  • Automation Reliance: The Blue Wave typically has no organic crew onboard at all, making it particularly vulnerable to certain situations such as enemy borders or particularly skilled slicers.
  • Weak Conventional Firepower: The Blue Wave's stock form (without any modules) only has tractor beam projectors and point defense emplacements. While the tractor beams do have a direct fire mode, it's typically not as efficient or versatile as many actual dedicated weapons systems.
  • Overly Eager: The Blue Wave's intelligences have been programmed to be adventurous and compassionate in order to fulfill its rescue mission, however, this sometimes leads the Blue Wave being overly eager, engaging in risky maneuvers, or being easily tricked or goaded by particularly cunning or cruel enemies.
DESCRIPTION
The Blue Wave was one of the first Loci Frigates every constructed and went on its inaugural voyage into the Stygian Reaches, where it was nearly destroyed in a pirate ambush. While many other organizations would have simply scrapped the vessel, the Blue Wave instead found itself rebuilt as an experimental and fully automated rescue craft. Troop bays were gutted and replaced with medical facilities and salvage droid bays. Its weapon emplacements were almost entirely replaced with tractor beam projectors to allow it to act as a rescue or salvage tug. Its automation systems were tweaked and expanded in order to make it entirely AI-run. The resulting ship has since been engaged in frequent rescue patrols or sent on particularly risky salvage runs. Because of the dangers of such operations, especially in the fringe areas of space, it still retains the original Loci's module systems which are still switched out based on mission parameters:

Loci Modules: Loci's ventral midsection is actually a module very similar in construction to the modules found on the Strike-class Medium Cruiser, being easily fitted into the vessels at small repair yards or even in the depths of deep space with the help of space tugs. Each module has its own power sources and life support systems, making it operationally independent from the Loci it is placed on, though the modules do connect with the ship's computer systems to fully integrate operations. Depending on the type of module, the Loci module improves the ship's firepower, defenses, or speed.

Offensive Module - Energy Weapons: This module adds 20 more Iris II-class Variable Charge Turbolasers to the Loci, giving it additional flexible energy firepower. Because of its logistical simplicity in terms of supplies and crew training, it is probably the most common offensive module used by the Locis.
Offensive Module - Kinetic Weapons: This module adds 20 Rhongomyniad II-class Mass Driver Cannons to the Loci. This is typically used by Locis acting in a ground support role or for special missions because of the cannon's different types of shells.
Offensive Module - Ion Weapons: This module adds 20 Equilizer-class Variable Charge Ion Cannons
to the Loci, making it well-suited to disabling enemy starships.
Offensive Module - Energy Torpedo Launchers: This module adds 10 Maelstrom Energy Torpedo Launcher turrets to the Loci, giving it flexible, long range punch.
Offensive Module - Kinetic Warheads: This module adds 10 Harpoon-class General Purpose Warhead Launchers to the Loci, allowing it to use a wide variety of different warheads. Common warheads include Revirement-class Missiles, Firelance-class Torpedoes, and Tidefall Brilliant Torpedoes.
Offensive Module - Minelayer: This module adds 10 minelayers along with a substantial magazine to carry different mine types or stationary drones, allowing the Loci to act as a minelayer. Common payloads include Cometburst-class Space Mines, Fracture-class Gravity Mines, Starstreak-class Space Mines, Mine Type As, Defender ion mines, E-45 interdictor sentries, Mark Six sensor beacons, R-UR4s, SRG-87 railgun drones, Stoic missile sentries , and other similarly deployable pieces of equipment.
Offensive Module - Interdictor: This module adds two gravity well projectors to the Loci, allowing it to act as an interdictor.
Offensive Module - Escort: This module adds 20 Rainburst-class Flak Cannons and 10 Plumbata-class Defense Batteries typically loaded with Starcore II-class Concussion Missiles, making it more useful for screening against starfighters, warheads, and other small threats.

Defensive Module - Multi-layer shielding: This module adds a pair of Aspis-class Shield Systems and an Aegis II Anti-Concussion Field Generator to the Loci.
Defensive Module - Starlight Scutum: This module adds a Starlight Scutum Shield generator
Defensive Module - Electronic Warfare: This module adds four LLT-12 Erebus Jamming Arrays, dozens of mimic sensor decoy launchers with extended magazines, and a frequency jammer.

Propulsion Module - Nimble-5 Ion Engines: This module adds a number of extra Nimble-5 Ion Engines to increase the vessel's speed and also to allow more sustained bursts.
Propulsion Module - Predator Drive: This module adds Predator interdiction drives to increase the Loci's sublight speed and to slow down enemy small craft.
Propulsion Module - Baffled Drive: This module adds baffled drives, which when used alone can reduce the Loci's sensor signature from distances and helps to prevent tracking the ship's trail during its sublight travel. It does not prevent detection of the ship by other means and does little to hide the ship itself at typical engagement ranges.
