Darth Timoris
To err is human, to forgive divine. And I'm no god
"Evil began in a time before recorded history, when magicians made themselves into kings…and gods…using the powers of the dark side of the Force. The weak-minded have ever been ready to obey one who wields great power. Those who learned the powers of the dark side are quick to exploit this weakness—to make war. Again and again the dark side has surged forth, like a storm…devouring whole worlds and entire star systems. Those who mastered dark power became dark power. They unleashed destruction, for no other reason than for selfish gain. They despoiled nations…destroyed whole civilizations. Some of them, I am ashamed to say, are Jedi."

The Force is a metaphysical, spiritual, binding, omnipotent and ubiquitous power that holds enormous importance for the Sith Order.
Known as the Way in ancient times, the Force is viewed in many different aspects, including, but not limited to, the Light-side, the Dark-side, the Living Force, the Unifying Force, the Cosmic Force, and the Physical Force.
The first two aspects are concerned with the moral compass of the Force, as manifested by the conduct and emotions of living creatures who are themselves part of the fabric of the Force. The Dark-side of the Force is the element aligned with hatred, fear, covetousness, anger, aggression, jealousy and malevolence.
Though the Force is thought to flow through every living thing, its power can only be harnessed by beings described as "Force-sensitive." This Force-sensitivity is correlated with, and sometimes attributed to, a high count of internal micro-organisms called midi-chlorians that are found in a Force-sensitive's blood: the higher the count, the greater the being's potential Force ability, though there are some exceptions to this rule. Force-sensitive beings are able to tap into the Force to perform acts of great skill and agility as well as control and shape the world around them.
The Dark-side of the Force, called Bogan or Boga by ancient Force-sensitives on Tython, is an aspect of the Force. Those who use the Dark-side are typically known as either Dark-siders, Dark Side Adepts, or Dark Jedi when unaffiliated with a Dark-side organization such as the Sith. Unlike the Jedi, who are famous for using the Light side of the Force, Dark-siders draw power from raw emotions and feelings such as anger, hatred, greed, jealousy, fear, aggression, megalomania, and unrestrained passion.
Corruption of the Dark-side
“The power of the Dark-side does not debilitate the practitioner so much as it debilitates those who lack it. The power of the dark side is an illness no true Sith would ever wish to be cured of.”
– Darth Plagueis
The Dark-side, much like a strong, addictive narcotic, affects not only the mind of the user but the appearance as well. As one immerses oneself deeper within the Dark-side of the Force, its malevolent power takes a toll on the body. Darth Bane explained that the reason for this physical degradation is because flesh and bone lacked the endurance to channel the immense power of the Dark-side indefinitely.
Many Dark-siders experience a change in the pigmentation of their eyes, as their normal eye colour will transform into a luminous, sulphuric yellow – sometimes ringed with crimson. Often the skin will also lose pigmentation, becoming pale and mottled while veins became increasingly visible. The hair will also lose colour, making it appear as though the Dark-sider is aging rapidly. The user's voice will also be altered, becoming a few pitches lower and raspier.
The effects generally progress over time and immersion in the Dark-side, and would not immediately affect one's appearance. Darth Tyranus and Galen Marek, for example, did not suffer any of the physical degeneration of the Dark-side, and their eyes only assumed the yellow hue during moments of anger.
