Darth Timoris

To err is human, to forgive divine. And I'm no god
Acolyte or Apprentice

“I wanted to see the true power of the Dark-side. Can you teach me to…"
"You will learn."
– Zannah apprentices herself to Darth Bane

A Sith Acolyte or Apprentice was an individual, that had begun serious training under a Sith Master, usually chosen by the Master himself or herself, after the potential apprentice displayed an impressive act of loyalty or cruelty.

In some cases, the individual pledged themselves to the teachings of the Sith Master, thereby becoming the Apprentice. In other situations, the Master sought out the student, being guided by the will of the Dark-side of the Force.

Knight

Sith Knight was the title given to a former Sith apprentice who had completed his or her training with a Sith Master or another Sith Knight.

Lord or Master

"Perhaps your way lies with the Sith... and the heart of their darkness. To recognize what strength is, and bring that strength to those that follow you... and those that defy you. The way of a Sith Lord."
– Kreia

Sith Lord was a title that was conferred on a member of the Sith Order who had both considerable knowledge of and strength in the Dark-side.

Those Knights who aspired to become a Sith Lord had to pass various challenges that would test their prowess and strength in the Dark-side.

The term ‘Sith Lord’ generally encompassed members of both sexes, although some female Sith were styled Sith Lady.

Dark Lord of the Sith

“The Sith must be ruled by a single leader, the very embodiment of the strength and power of the Dark-side. If the leader grows weak, another must rise to seize the mantle."
– Darth Revan's Sith Holocron

The title of Dark Lord of the Sith, or Jen'ari in the Sith, refers to the ruler of the One Sith. There can be only one Dark Lord of the Sith at a time.
