STREGTHS:
Fly Me to the Moon: Bradshaw learned to fly, and to love flying, from an early age. Flying and piloting in general, represents the freedom of escape that has characterized most of his life after age nine. Unable, or unwilling, to stay attached to any one place or person for long, he learned to pilot from a backwater smuggler named Yui Calypso who picked him up from Commenor, later, he served with the Kathol Outback as a freelance fighter co-pilot for hire. He soon moved on to the better paying First Order. Later serving with the Sith Order for a few missions before growing tired of the combat pilot role. By age twenty, he’d moved on to the private pilot industry. If that’s what you wanted to call it. Really, he was hired by one shady entity after another, to pilot one rust bucket or another, likely filled with one illegal cargo or another, from point A to point B. While not exactly an Ace pilot, his early start to flying combined with his force sensitivity makes him a more than competent combat and civilian pilot.
Spoon Bending: His mother is a strong force user and the ruler of Commenor, his father was a Sith Lord, and yet, despite not being biologically related to either of them, Bradshaw Ku is strong in the force, though unfocused and untrained. He keeps quiet about his force sensitivity to most, but the force has saved him from more than one narrow escape and provides him with a level of comfort that kept him going after he ran away. Plus, it’s a great way to show off to the ladies, of course.
WEAKNESSES:
Triple Dog Dare: Bradshaw isn’t just a risk taker, he takes unnecessary risks just to prove he can. Highly competitive, Bradshaw is eager to prove himself, whatever the cost. This has made him unfit for military life, as his transients from one faction to another attests. He doesn’t think or plan if an option to showoff presents itself – putting himself and those around him at constant risk. He idolizes the power of his late adopted father, but consistently lacks the patience and wisdom to attain it.
You Wouldn’t Like Me When I’m Angry: Bradshaw has an anger management problem. And, that becomes an even bigger issue when you’re force sensitive. He lacks the maturity, awareness, and control to keep unpleasant thoughts to himself, physically and mentally. A knee-jerk reaction to any sort of unpleasantness is his norm, only potentially buffered by his use of humor as an emotional shield. The biggest problem arises when he loses all control, this is when the force seems to act through him on its own, usually to purely destructive results.
BIOGRAPHY: Bradshaw was adopted by Lady Kay and the late Sith Lord Shaw-Ku. Bradshaw idolized his father, but tragedy soon struck when another, brutal, Sith Lord tarnished the family’s reputation, outwitted them, and nearly killed them all in a physical confrontation that left them all alive, accept for his father, who struck a deal with the Sith, sacrificing himself so the rest of his family may live. The loss of his father, the person he’d looked up to most in the galaxy, was too much for the nine-year-old Bradshaw. He irrationally blamed his mother for his death and ran away from home. He would take the last part of his late father’s name as his last name, so that Shaw-Ku could live on inside his son, Bradshaw Ku.
After days of struggling to survive around one of Commenor’s major spaceports, Bradshaw met the old, backwater smuggler Yui Calypso, when he’d attempted to smuggle himself aboard in one of the old smuggler’s crates. Yui had been around too long to fall prey to stowaways, however, and quickly discovered the small child hiding inside a crate full of blaster ammunition. Bradshaw’s pleas to remain touched a nerve with Yui, who’d always wanted to teach his trade and leave a legacy, but never married, and, to his knowledge, never had children. Yui let Bradshaw stay, taught him the basics of flying, shooting, smuggling, and, of course, how to pick up women. Unfortunately for the old smuggler, Bradshaw eventually grew bored of the smuggler life and at age 15, left the old smuggler to join the more exciting ranks of an unorganized band of Kathol Outback fighter pilots as a mercenary co-pilot.
He didn’t join the Outback, like most, because he believed in the cause. He’d always been, at least since his father’s death, a very amoral person – unconcerned about the moral or ethical plight of the galaxy. He joined the Outback simply because it was different and exciting. A couple years of fighting with the disjointed Outback eventually left Bradshaw wanting more than to be a co-pilot, and make more doing it. That’s when he answered a military add for the First Order. He spent a few years flying various combat missions for the First Order, then the Sith Order. He grew tired of that too, and tired of military discipline and command.
For the past few years, Bradshaw has hired himself out as a pilot to anyone who was, and is, willing to pay his fee. Despite the constant threat of being caught with who knows what sort of contraband, he has always been able to escape capture, sometimes through his piloting skills or bold maneuvering, and sometimes by sacrificing the ship and cargo he was payed to deliver. The owners of the lost contraband growing increasingly angry with him.
This life too has slowly worn on him, and he has increasingly become interested in his force-sensitivity, seeing it as his next adventure. The questions of how and who would train him however, weren’t easy to answer.
