Brain or Brawn? (Xander Carrick)

William stood by the side of the temple, watching over the open training grounds. For the last half an hour he had been watching a training session for non force-users, close quarters combat specifically. The teacher stood out more than anyone else in the group, as he dressed more like a Jedi than the others. None of the lesson interested William, he wasn't trained in fighting, but why should he need to be? He was here to build things, not be a soldier. Although, he could be a soldier...

The idea of it ran through his mind for quite some time, causing him to miss the lesson coming to an end. All of the non force-users seemed to be leaving, yet the teacher stayed behind. William approached him slowly, examining his appearance more closely before asking "Those the Rangers I hear about?" while gesturing towards the departing students.

"Yes just like that Private, Use his momentum as your weapon." I spoke as one of the younger students was having a relative hard time in preforming a move where by using the opponents own weight against him. to convert it into a throw and a lock. he did well in the simple punching, but the throwing and the grabs and locks were the hard parts for him.

When he finally preformed the throw and lock, I came over to him. Patting him on the shoulder. "Good good, keep doing that in slow motion. Muscle memory will help you in battle. Because what happens in battle Private?" With a reliability loud voice he spoke out the answer correctly. "You forget your training sir!" What he said was true. When in battle, even the most hardest of veterans forget their training when in the heat of battle. They rely on muscle memory to aid them in battle and the gut to lead them. What I was doing was giving them that "memory" so if their life was on the line, the would survive.

he nodded his head with a smile and continued again, but I stopped him with a hand. "Now I know all of you would just hate to be done with class today, but I will see you tomorrow at O-six hundred. because tomorrow, we run." I got a few moans from the group, but the private who stood before me smiled, and went off on his way.

I turned around to hear that someone was talking to me. Asking if they were the rangers that were being thrown about in numerous training sessions. I smiled at the man and nodded my head, "Yes the are, and how are you not with them?" The man looked older than myself, had a muscular form, and looked to be a man that was fit out of his own initiative. "Oh are you a new recruit for the Science division?" I looked down at my watch to see that it was about a few hours since their transport had arrived. so he maybe came with them.

William smirked, looking around as he let out a chuckle. "I don't know about 'Recruit', but yeah, I'm a Scientist." His smirk broke in a smile, as he held out his hand for a shake. "William Trager." He announced, nodding in greetings to the man. Whether Xander would shake his hand or not, he did not know, but either way he continued. "The training looks and sounds extensive. I think my hands are better suited in a lab." William didn't voice his ideas of becoming a soldier, as even though he was telling himself he could be, it sounded like a bad idea.

The man confirmed that he was a scientist. I nodded my head to him and shook his hand when it was given to me. I was being nice to him as should anyone meeting a person for the first time. Listening to his comment about the training being Extensive I smiled and nodded my head again.

"Yes as it should be. We don't want poorly trained soldiers Mr. Trager."

After releasing his hand form the shake, I decided to comment about his hand being better in a lab.

"That's what most people say. Some variation of that of course, but you never know what you may be good at unless you try."

As he withdrew his hand from the shake, William thought for a moment. "I don't know... Would the training interfere with my work? I'll have jobs to do, scientifically, for the order, there are things to build." He couldn't believe he was saying this, but continued anyway. "Think you could train me to be a ranger?" It was forward, yes. He was going to regret it later, probably. But something told him it would be worth it, he just didn't know what...

I smiled and shook my head as he asked if it would interfere with his work. "No, we will train only when you have the time, and it could help you come up with things to make because you have experience in what may help us later on." He asked about if he could be trained. I smiled and nodded my head once more. This man was not the very forward kind of people, so I could tell that he was nervous about asking me if I could offer some training. I nodded my head to tell him yes.

"if I can train privates from anywhere in the Galaxy, then I can train a scientist who may know about physics." I walked a few feet back and put my hands up, "Lets start now since it's n your mind to do so. Show me what you got and from there, we can see on improving on what you have."

[Sorry I didn't reply, this got lost in my notifications.]

William nodded, stepping back himself to raise his hands into fists. He went for the first move, lunging forward and sending his right fist into Xander's chest. Afterwards, he wouldn try to spin around and bring his left elbow crashing into Xander's face, but that was only if he wasn't stopped in his first attack. I ain't no recruit. He smirked to himself.

The man was surely no recruit. But he was not the best either. I had trained since I was 14 years old how to fight. and that was when I was a mere apprentice. Now that I had moved on to many different types of fighting styles, I was much better than most Spec ops soldiers. The punch that was thrown to me, was smacked away as though he did hit his target. and with the man's trying to spin around to hit me with his elbow, was not a very smart move. He had to have good footing, and well, he didn't as of now.

WIth a simple lash with my left foot sent to his legs, it would bring him down to the ground.

I offered him my hand to help the man up, should he take it or not, I spoke. "Keep your eyes on me. Now, show me what you got."

William grunted as he fell, but accepted Xander's hand. "I'll try..." He muttered, raising his fists again. This time, he went for a flurry of strikes, mainly aiming for his opponent's chest, but after around six strikes (should they have been successful), he sent his final fist into Xander's face. Come on, have you seen this guys hair? Beat him already. William's internal monologue was silenced by his urgency to fight well.
