Brakes... where are the brakes?

For the future of Ringovinda StarYards in cruiser-sized bulk freighters, the main cash cow is expected to be the kilometer-long Maximum Battleship, or Exodus-class, which is almost ready for production, and its prototype is currently undertaking flight testing. For some reason vanity projects could also be pursued in parallel. Charzon knew very well that the civilian market for Star Destroyer-sized ships is highly restricted, as compared to even bulk cruisers but Jessica thought that ships up to 2000m in their greatest dimension would be able to perform planetary landings, provided the right number of repulsorlift generators were placed, knowing that the Marcias are there for that purpose. In addition, if Theed Palace Space Vessel Engineering Corps used their own civilian Star Destroyer as part of their major project of going from tier-3 to tier-4, and Silk Holdings, the only other known manufacturer of Star Destroyer-sized civilian ships (the Lucrehulk being discontinued centuries ago), built said Star Destroyer-sized heavy freighter as part of planetary evacuation, Ringovinda StarYards may as well build theirs as well. While Theed Hangar and Silk Holdings have one class of such ships apiece, Ringovinda StarYards may well be the only company to build more than one.

"Before the go-ahead for production is given, we would like to conduct some tests on several systems before we can proceed to the phase of test flights" Charzon told over comm to the consultant that was coming in today to assist with systems testing.

"Soon I will have my vengeance over both Kuat Drive Yards and Theed Palace Space Vessel Engineering Corps" Jessica added.

It would seem that the systems tests Charzon was referring to mostly pertained to the propulsion systems and power generation. Creveld-5s were largely unproven on actual ships; they were supposed to be improvements on the Creveld-4s. This 1500m-long ship is supposed to have three Creveld-5s, and another 2000m-long ship designed from a baseline design stolen from Kuat Drive Yards have four.

"Working on the ship, eh?" Aaron asked as he stepped into the room. He was not quite a Jedi, so he was also not responsible for maintaining the good image of the New Jedi Order. That meant he didn't really have to work on his manners or anything.

Well, actually, he was supposed to be there. The construction of a great civilian ship was, of course, noticed by the Galactic Alliance, who most likely had thought it would be quite an idea to keep an eye on those who might have opposed the faction. And this ship could have turned out to be a serious threat to the Alliance.

His real reason for being there was a secret. What he had told to the one named Charzon Loulan instead was that he was there to possibly help out wherever he could so that the ship would do greatly. And that he did, while keeping an eye on what they were doing to the vessel.

"Any news on the test flights?" he asked as he neared the merchant behind this. To be honest, Aaron didn't really know much about Ringovinda StarYards. It was possibly not able to shine through the platinum plating of the most powerful shipyards, such as the Kuat Drive Yards or the something something Theed Palace. These had proven themselves to be capable of doing anything. it was this company's turn to try to do the same.

Whether they could do it or not, depended on the moves they made.

"The main thing is that it is going to be the first ship ever mounted with Creveld-5s, and soon, in an attempt to take, as per the call of the Ringovindian government, as many potshots at we can at the One Sith, we will steal prison ship schematics from Kuat Drive Yards, possibly even building a quasi-battlecruiser-sized bulk freighter from these"

"Accepting to take said potshot was my idea. I will take part in it myself; I will take what I know about KDY's facilities for use in this operation. They scrapped some variable-geometry landing gear, they refused to allow Super Transport Xs and XIs to be offered with landing gears, I'll make them pay for that!" Jessica ranted.

"Jessica, what are you complaining about? Weren't the Maersk, the Rasta Sub and the imminent launch of the Exodus-class payment enough for that particular deed?"

Even though the hired help for that theft operation seem primarily interested in other schematics, perhaps even actual battlecruiser schematics, Ringovinda StarYards has no desire whatsoever to actually build battlecruisers unless a faction asked for it. And several factions or shipyards could build battlecruisers just fine, including KDY and its subsidiary Kuat-Entralla Engineering, Rendili StarDrive, Mon Calamari Shipyards, Hoersch-Kessel Drive, MandalNautics, to name a few. She took Ringovinda StarYards into the direction of freight ships, and non-combat ships but dealing with a fanatic government at home makes things more difficult, and, worse still, the government intends to make the entire heist a propaganda operation. But, being majority-owned by the Ringovindian government, Ringovinda StarYards had to answer to the government and ultimately the people. Yet, few employees would go so far as to steal schematics from the One Sith, and Jessica knew more about KDY than anyone else in the company. She is pumped up about that heist attempt... almost unnaturally so. With that said, Charzon turns to Aaron:

"Aaron, the maiden flight will be made at sublight speed only, and we will land on the surface of Ringo Vinda, and back into orbit. It will begin soon... It's a 1500-meter long bulk freighter we call the Traquia-class. Thirty-six landing gears, four repulsorlift generators arrayed between the Creveld-5s. The threat factor you seem to think it poses, actually comes from the modularity this ship offers. Some faction may want to acquire one such ship and convert it into a carrier, but Maersk Star Freight and Bluth Company both expect to see the bulk freighter we could pull out from the heist and the Traquia before committing to purchase anything Star Destroyer-sized"

"Don't forget about Star Tours!"

"Star Tours is not in position to purchase that bulk freighter from the resulting heist just yet. Give it a year or two, though, and they will probably purchase one. But is there a particular role you wish to play in the test flights, Aaron?"
