- Weaver: At its heart the Branch of the Sun can shield Kaska from the effects of her actions. It keeps her presence in the Force firmly anchored to the Lightside. This allows the commitment of deep atrocities and horrible acts, but the corruption of the Dark would find no purchase on the Jedi. She is unaware of this effect.
- Force-Construct: Powered and animated through the Force will shield the prosthetic from most EMP related effects. It is also far more in tune with Kaska, in some ways being able to act before she even consciously thinks of it. Perhaps a sense of precognition or her subconscious pushing it along.
- Well: Boosts the wearer's capabilities with Tutaminis, allowing it to act as a storage device for Force powers clashing against it, dissipating them as much as it can.
- Repulse: The cybernetic has a refined ability to absorb sonic effects and unleash them right back at their target. A savvy user can take advantage of this by generating their own sonic effect, if they are without ammo or other tools, to unleash an attack on an unexpected target.
- Well: Has a strong connection with the Tutaminis discipline, being able to serve as a sink to draw excess Force effects into it and neutralize it, before it can do harm to the wearer.
- Force-Construct: The cybernetic was forged through the Force and its inner-workings are powered by it. This means it has no need for internal power supplies, miniature reactors or anything of the sort. It just needs the Force. Because of this there is an extensive connection between the Branch and Kaska. Unlike other cybernetics that are still 'alien' and 'foreign', this arm feels like a part of her, maybe even more than her real arm ever had. Since it is powered by the Force it is heavily resistant against EMP attacks, only causing minor hiccups in its most internal electronics.
- Light: Forged by Sardun it was imbued with his connection to the Force. As such it shares the unique flaw all his creations have. It allows Kaska to commit horrible atrocities and yet it will never taint her connection to the Lightside of the Force.
- Overheat: Has a tendency to absorb heat and expel it, which can have an adverse effect to the meat body still attached to the cybernetic. The cybernetic might not be cut in half by a lightsaber, it might be able to repulse a blast or bullet, but it all raises its temperature. It's common to see burns and blistering after a long and hard battle form around the shoulder area.
- Exotic effects: Has no practical layers of defense against acid or radiation-powered attacks. Radiation will temporarily warp the crystalline lattice within the prosthetic, causing interference with the wearer, this will slow reaction time of the cybernetic. Acid can eat through the outer layers of the prosthetic, damaging its effectivity as well.
- Force-Null: Yeah, the Ysalamir rating wasn't a joke. The cybernetic cannot function properly without access to the Force. It becomes nothing more than dead weight, until a connection to the Force can be restored again.
- Light: Forged by Sardun it was imbued with his connection to the Force. As such it shares the unique flaw all his creations have. It allows Kaska to commit horrible atrocities and yet it will never taint her connection to the Lightside of the Force.
"I cannot protect her like I used to, but perhaps with this I won't have to."
In the aftermath of the NIO invasion on Gravlex Med a panicking Dagon contacted the Jedi Master Sardun.
His old Padawan, grievously wounded and in need of his support.
Sardun's fury was all-consuming. Perhaps that is why Kaska had not reached out to him herself. He did what he could for her, but in the end all Kaska really needed was time and all the bacta in the Galaxy. Except that she had lost something in her fight. Her arm. Some things can't just be salvaged and knit back together. The Jedi Master knew that the Kaska of today would never reach out for his help willingly. Either too proud, too fearful or a mixture of both. He couldn't be there for her in her darkest moments, but Michael could forge something that would hopefully help light her path out of the shadows.
As such he went to work.
The Branch of the Sun was his masterpiece. Shaped from high-grade songsteel, imbued with his stubbornness and durability, it was a suitable replacement for Kaska's arm. What Sardun didn't know was that it inherited the flaw that was hidden inside his ring. A buffer which would shield his old Padawan from the consequences of her actions. Any time she slipped up, went too far in her decisions, the arm would act as a shield. It would maintain her connection to the Lightside of the Force and it would subtly convince her that all she was doing... was for the Light.
No matter how far Kaska Arden tried to flee from her Master and his convictions.
Now part of it was permanently attached to her like an appendage.
