Breaking Point [Kaine]

Canthar, Panatha
1100

Canthar was the shining jewel of the Epicanthix people where all aspects of the Epicanthix culture are clear and apparent to those who walk through the concrete jungle of the city's central area. This is where Elani found herself on this clouded morning. She needed to see her father after exiling herself for an extended period of time.

Elani entered the Canthar librarium where she would prepare the meeting with her father. She found herself in a secluded area deep within the library where she would call on her father through the Force.

"Father..I know you can hear me." she said to herself after kneeling onto the ground with her head bowed slightly and her eyes closed.

"I have returned to you, my lord. I have battled my demons and won as you commanded. I am ready."

Rows upon rows of bookshelves lined the central causeway that cut through the massive librarium, a plethora of knowledge from which the Epicanthix could study and learn about anything they desired from every corner of the galaxy. It was the legacy of each Panathan King to improve and expand upon this reservoir of knowledge, and despicable as Kaine might have been to the rest of the galaxy not even he shirked this most sacred duty.

Many of the new additions were contemporary Sith writings meant to expose his people to rudimentary Sith philosophy, opening their minds to the Dark Side through enlightenment rather than forced conversion or other subversive methods.

Midday was almost upon the people of Canthar, and many had retired to the library for a scant moment before they would return home or to their place of business. Kaine entered the library without a scrap of the fanfare he often enjoyed when he went out in public, secrecy was to be his tool for now. Darkness coalesced around his form, obscuring his hooded visage from others as he flitted through the library like a phantom. It was only when he reached the secluded alcove that he dropped his disguise and revealed himself to his wayward daughter.

"Elani, part of me had wondered if you had been killed while in your exile, but I am pleased that you have finally returned."

Elani slowly rose to her feet and raised her chin so that her gaze could be locked onto her father's face. "I'm not dead yet, my lord. It will take a lot to end my life. You know this." She walked closer to him and embraced him briefly. "It feels good to be home." She then removed the hood from her head, revealing her flowing, obsidian hair. "I must ask a favor of you, father." Elani walked over to a nearby table and pulled out a chair for her father to sit in.

Kaine tightened up like a board when the arms of his daughter surrounded him in an embrace, he was not the type to openly engage one another in such intimate shows of affection; especially towards his own children. Still, he didn't not push her away or try to break off, and he even managed to give Elani a pat on the back in an awkward robotic manner.

When she released her grip on him he relaxed considerably.

"You have my blood, Elani, it would take more than the dangers of the galaxy to put an end to you." He followed after her to the table and slid into the open chair that was much too small for his muscular frame, the wood squeaking as it struggled to hold his powerful bulk. He silently prayed it wouldn't break or else he would sure look like a right fool. Still, that was the farthest thing from his mind at the moment, he was interested now by what Elani had said.

"And what is this favor, dear daughter?"

Elani walked over to the seat that was directly across from her father and placed her gaze onto his visage. The look on her face presented a serious tone. "I ask that you utilize me to my full potential father. Wherever you see fit to send me, no matter the circumstances, I ask that you do so. It is the only way that I might become stronger and of more use to you, my lord." Elani rested her elbows onto the table and interlocked her fingers, patiently awaiting her father's response.

He rubbed his chin in contemplation, "You have potential, Elani, you've always possessed that."

The wheels and gears of his mind churned with possibilities, of the many paths that he could send his eldest daughter careening down. He thought of his current predicament and the odds at which he found himself with the First Order, minute as they were. Then he thought of the Knights of Ren, a weak and vacillating order of walking teenage holo-dramas that often thought themselves as a superior alternative to the Sith Order.

An arrogance that caused bile to rise in the back of his throat.

"And I believe I do have a task for you. You will join the Knights of Ren, find your way into their confidence, and be my eyes and ears within their institution."

Elani rose from her seat and, for a brief moment, stood still as a statue as she took in her father's orders. She did not know who or what these Knights of Ren are or why her father needed her in their presence, but she would not argue with a direct order. Especially not one from her father. "It will be done, my lord. I shall be your eyes and ears among those lesser creatures."

Elani walked closer to her father's position and knelt before him. With her head bowed, she spoke once more. "Thank you, my lord."
