SPECIAL FEATURES
- Deployment: The mine can be be placed or dispersed via artillery or other specialized mine dispersal systems.
- Propulsion: When dispersed via artillery minelaying rounds or aerial minelayers, the sensors maintain a configurable distance from each other by using their propulsion systems to spread out.

- Base Station: The mine is linked to a base station that contains the majority of the processing and sensor systems. Once the base-station detects a hostile craft with ground forces conveyance capabilities, it deploys its lift/floating mine directly into the path of the oncoming craft.
- Communications Suite: When connected to compatible systems, the communication suite is an auto-negotiating, frequency hopping system with a self-modulating encryption key, making it extremely resistant to jamming and interception. The comm-lasers can mimic this by rapidly shifting their broadcast spectrum.

STRENGTHS
- Quantity is a Quality of its Own: While not nearly as damaging individually as advanced purpose built anti-air missiles, the mines are designed to be scattered across or near potential drop zones and deploy as swarms of low-sensor profile mines directly into the path of incoming dropships.
- Low-sensor Profile: Due to their size (for typical airborne signatures, not mines), optical camouflage suite and quiet, low IR signature engines, the mines are able to maintain a low energy signature.
- Nimble: The mines are capable of moving extremely quickly, easily able to place themselves in the path of oncoming craft post-launch. Additionally, they can adjust to rapid maneuvering by targets as well.
- Jam Resistant: A frequency hopping comms system and data-fused detection, tracking and targeting suite significantly reduce the chances of being affected by even the heaviest of jamming.
- Lethal: The high explosive baradium charge is powerful enough to cause cause damage with a high degree of probability to all but heavily shielded and armored dropships and gunships.
- EMP/Ion Resistant: The mine and the base station is EMP/Ion resistant thanks to both the casing material and its combat de-ionizer.
- Impact Unnecessary: The mine does not need to impact targets at all, and instead will detonate once they are in effective detonation range. Within 25 meters, the mine has the potential to vaporize objects from the sheer energy release, and causing intense concussive damage to anything out to 50 meters.
WEAKNESSES
- Quantity Is Not Quality: A single mine lacks the capability to cause any notable damage to heavily shielded and armored dropships.
- Defensive: These mines are really only traditionally useful in a defensive scenario.
- Stealth: If not networked into a battlenet that is linked to a system with stealth detection capabilities, stealth craft and those with particularly low sensor signatures could easily slip past undetected.
- EMP/Ion: Particularly powerful EMP/Ion weapons could quite likely overwhelm the built-in protective measures and fry either or both the mine and the base station.
DESCRIPTION
Designed as a relatively cost effective defensive augmentation to the standard approach of anti-air emplacements and the like, the AMS-01 Anti-deployment Mine is specific solution to a specific problem. While not paid to bring back ordnance, Strill Securities commanders sought out a more cost effective solution to soften up enemy dropships and gunships on approach that would allow their AA defenses to focus fire on priority targets or merely engage the survivors. For this, the company turned to the lift and floating mine technology.
The AMS-01 Anti-deployment Mine is a fusion of both the aforementioned technology. Rather than rely on manual means to deploy said mines, the mines consist of a two-part system. The base-station contains the majority of the sensor, scanner, targeting and tracking kit, and is responsible for monitoring the area for targets. Once the base-station detects a hostile craft with ground forces conveyance capabilities, it deploys its lift/floating mine directly into the path of the oncoming craft.
The base station and the mines themselves are capable of networking to share sensor data. The base stations additionally have a transmit/receive connection capability with the 'Manda' or similar battlenets, allowing them to make use of and add to the combined data fused battlefield 'image'. This along with their sensor fusion and frequency hopping comms makes even heavy jamming have an almost negligible effect on them.
The mines themselves in addition are silent, nigh on invisible and have engines with an extremely low IR signature, making them difficult to detect. This combined with their speed and maneuverability as well as their high yield high explosive baradium charge makes them very deadly indeed. However, heavily shielded and armored dropships and gunships are unlikely to be damaged by a single mine in any notable fashion owing to a lack of explosive mass.
Finally, other than the potential of its EMP/Ion defenses being overpowered, the mine's final and most major flaw is the fact that it is only really useful in defensive scenarios. Fortunately that is precisely how Strill Securities and most customers who purchase it intend to use it.
