- Weight: Average.
- Ammunition Type: 12.7x55 slugs, power cell.
- Ammunition Capacity: Very Small. 30-round magazine, 120-round power cell.
- Effective Range: Average.
- Effective Range: 400 meters
- Maximum Range: 450 meters
- Rate of Fire: Very High. 900 rounds/min.
- Fire mode(s): Semi-automatic, two-round burst and fully automatic firing modes.
- Stopping Power: Very High.
- Recoil: High.
- Integrated Targeting Computer with HUD Linking Capability: The weapon features onboard targeting computer which has the ability to interface with HUD systems and provide provide compensation for various atmospheric conditions, and uses the HUD's binocular mode (if it has one, and is limited based on the weapon's own range when used in this mode) as a magnified optic. Heavy amounts of jamming doesn't affect this feature given proximity between the weapon and the user.
- Cautionary Pulser (can be toggled on and off)
- Variety of Ammunition: Breshig War Forge Consolidated produces a variety of ammunition for the weapon:
- AP: Armor-piercing rounds with a depleted baradium core designed to act as a penetrator upon impact with armor.
- HE: Deuterium detonator rounds designed to explode on contact with a hard surface.
- Bronzium Full Metal Jacket Rounds: Bronzium jacketed rounds, standard ammunition for the weapon.
- Electro-stun Round: Similar to electro-stun grenades but on a smaller scale, the electro-stun rounds are capable of immobilizing most humanoid targets only about two or so impacts, whereupon they release an electric charge, though decidedly stubborn targets might require more rounds. These rounds are also not very effective against hard armored targets.
- EMP: Micro-EMP rounds capable of forcing a reboot of sensor or targeting systems in shielded systems and shutting down said systems in unshielded systems.
- Tracker Dust Rounds
- SLAP: Saboted light armor penetrator round with a depleted baradium penetrator. Better at penetrating armor than a regular armor piercing round.
- Armor-Piercing: The rounds fired by this weapon have a higher chance of penetrating armor and causing significant internal damage than traditional slugthrowers.
- Whisper Quiet: Like all Verpine Shatter weapons, the AR-2CQB Verpine Assault Rifle is whisper quiet at the point of the shooter when fired on supersonic mode, and is dead quiet when fired on subsonic throughout the round's trajectory. Only a very faint whistle may be heard in the event of a near miss.
- Pinpoint Accurate: Like most Verpine weapons, the rifle is extremely accurate.
- Versatile: The weapon's high fire rate combined with the sheer variety of rounds it can fire make it an extremely versatile weapon, able to take on a variety of targets, whether armored, unarmored or shielded.
- Heavy Ammunition: The ammunition for the rifle isn't exactly light either, making carrying large quantities of ammunition difficult, and after a certain point, nigh on impossible.
- High Fire Rate: A high fire rate and a small ammunition capacity aren't the best of combinations, improper fire discipline can yield an empty magazine at the wrong time.
- Small Ammunition Capacity: Equivalent high end heavy blaster rifles have a higher capacity.
- EMP/Ion Vulnerability: Despite the attempt to protect the weapon's sensitive electronics, a powerful enough EMP/Ion weapon will fry the acceleration coils and render the weapon useless.
What started as a special request from Vuhyr'yalilyr commandos as a silent alternative to the RR-04B Ripper Rifle, became another addition to the company's successful line of verpine shatter weapons. Where Verpine shatter weapons have the advantage over other slugthrowers is their ability to maintain a flat ballistic trajectory while remaining whisper quiet and retaining the inherent accuracy and armor-piercing potential of the weapon. This makes it an excellent sniper weapon as well as a offensive sidearm for special forces teams.
The company's recent verpine shatter battle rifle showed that it could do so while remaining a similar fire rate to equivalent blaster weapons. Which is what led to the advent of the test weapon that preceded the AR-02CQB, and the research collected from that weapon led to the development of the AR-02CQB. The weapon's high fire rate only helped increase the weapon's attractiveness to those looking for all the benefits of a traditional slugthrower without much of its inherent flaws. Though aware that there were a few 'verpine shatter assault rifles' on the market already, they were nonetheless convinced that their offering stood out from its competitors.
In addition to the weight of the large caliber ammunition the weapon fires, the weapon does have still share some of the traditional flaws of a Verpine Shatter weapon, notably a vulnerability to powerful EMP/Ion weapons that are able to bypass the protective measures taken to safeguard the weapon against such threats. There is the problem of its ammunition being heavy, making it far less convenient than blaster ammunition to carry. This compounds the problem of the weapon's comparatively small ammunition capacity as compared to blaster weapons, which makes it necessary to have to carry spare magazines and power cells, which is made difficult by the fact that the ammunition is comparatively heavy. Finally, a high fire rate and a small ammunition capacity are never an ideal combination. A disciplined shooter shouldn't have too many problems with this, but a moment of panic or an undisciplined shooter can lead to an empty magazine in the most inopportune of moments.
