STRENGTHS
- Mono-molecular Edge: With a mono-molecular edge, the weapon has a higher chance of penetrating armor or natural carapace than a traditional beskad, whose ability to do so is already very impressive.
- Ultrasonic Vibration Generator: The ultrasonic vibration generator increases the already very deadly weapon's natural armor penetration and gives even a glancing strike the potential to do great damage on target.
- Repulsor Generator: When the user needs extra impact force on target, they can activate the in-built repulsor generator with an easy to reach button on the weapon.
- Rylith Power Cell: The weapon makes use of a Rylith Power Cell, making for significantly increased battery life, as well as the capability to recharge the cell with exposure to sunlight.
- Training: The beskad isn't an effective weapon in the hands of those who don't quite know how to make use of a style that maximizes the advantages of the weapon while downplaying it's disadvantages. For example, a well-trained Mandalorian will know how not to tire themselves out by attempting to swing the heavier blade as though it were a 'regular' vibrosword.
- Out of Power: Once the weapon is out of power, it's back to being a beskad that's sharper than a standard one.
- EMP/Ion: Should the weapon's EMP/Ion defenses be overwhelmed by a powerful enough EMP/Ion weapon, then once again it is back to being a beskad that's sharper than a standard one.
- Beskar: The weapon is, at the end of the day, made from beskar. Given the number of anti-beskar measures in the galaxy, there's a relatively high chance of running into one of them.
- Heavy: A beskad is not a weapon for graceful parries and elegant flicks of the wrist, rather it's about battering your opponent's defenses down and then hacking them to pieces. That doesn't always work.
"It's still a beskad, just swing the shabla thing like you used to and you'll be fine..."

Modernizing a beskad was less of a conscious decision, more of what happened when someone at BWFC decided to find out what happened when you add an ultrasonic vibration generator to a beskad. The results were...interesting, and several destroyed test dummies later the decision was made to actually look into how to improve a beskad, that turned into a project on how to 'modernize' traditional Mandalorian melee weapons, and started the three poor bastards who were involved in this exercise down a long path that ultimately resulted in a widespread 'modernization' project.- Vuhyr'yalilyr Al'verde Rusana Kyrdol, explaining to new inductees on how to use the new weapon shortly after its adoption by Strill Securities.
There are few ways to improve on the already excellent design that is a Beskad, but adding a mono-molecular edge, an ultrasonic vibration generator and a repulsor generator certainly helps that along. With a mono-molecular edge, the weapon has a higher chance of penetrating armor or natural carapace than a traditional beskad, whose ability to do so is already very impressive. The ultrasonic vibration generator increases the already very deadly weapon's natural armor penetration and gives even a glancing strike the potential to do great damage on target. The weapon makes use of a Rylith Power Cell, making for significantly increased battery life, as well as the capability to recharge the cell with exposure to sunlight.
That said, the weapon itself has a number of disadvantages. The beskad isn't an effective weapon in the hands of those who don't quite know how to make use of a style that maximizes the advantages of the weapon while downplaying it's disadvantages. For example, a well-trained Mandalorian will know how not to tire themselves out by attempting to swing the heavier blade as though it were a 'regular' vibrosword. Once the weapon is out of power, it's back to being a beskad that's sharper than a standard one. Should the weapon's EMP/Ion defenses be overwhelmed by a powerful enough EMP/Ion weapon, then once again it is back to being a beskad that's sharper than a standard one. The weapon is, at the end of the day, made from beskar. Given the number of anti-beskar measures in the galaxy, there's a relatively high chance of running into one of them. Finally, a beskad is not a weapon for graceful parries and elegant flicks of the wrist, rather it's about battering your opponent's defenses down and then hacking them to pieces. That doesn't always work.
