PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Versatile: The engine's hybrid drive, scramjet booster and SLAM negate the need for additional systems to be able to efficiently function inside an atmosphere. Additionally, the SLAM and scramjet booster provide increased velocity and acceleration in both a planet's atmosphere as well as in space.
  • Powerful: Compared with other engines on the market, the Haal'miit is very powerful, capable of propelling most craft at great sublight and atmospheric speeds. The sheer output of the engine is such that it is capable of moving craft of great mass at relatively high speeds without the need for a high number of engine units.
  • Efficient: The dual stream thruster component and the fuel scoop allow for fuel reserves to last for far longer.
  • Stealthy: The engine leaves virtually no trace behind and is incredibly difficult to detect, let alone lock onto using the emissions or the extremely low thermal signature produced by the engines.
WEAKNESSES
  • Not Stealth: The great difficulty of picking up the craft's emissions or thermal signature from the engines doesn't translate to whatever craft or station that the engine is mounted into becoming a stealth craft. The host craft would still show up on sensors unless appropriately equipped.
  • SLAM or Stealth: Utilizing the SLAM system will render all of the dampening features of the engine useless and will most certainly show the fighter up on scanners.
  • EMP/Ion: While well protected against EMP/Ion damage, any damage that overloads the protective measures will almost certainly fry the engine's electronic systems.
DESCRIPTION
"That thing shouldn't be able to move that fast!"
- Last recorded words from the black box of a pirate vessel engaged by a Strill Securities anti-piracy task force.
The Haal'miit' Ion-Atmospheric Hybrid Drive is a deep modernization of the company's previous product, the 'Sarutaya'. The Haal'miit builds on everything the previous engine had, adding on better engine controls, full compatibility for the 'Redalur' maneuvering thruster array and inertial compensator system and featuring a heuristically learning flight computer that adjusts to the pilot's personal piloting style, aftermarket modifications and/or environmental factors.
The main drive and its braking thrusters are TibannaX burning IR suppressed thrust trace dampened sound dampened vectral equipped ion-atmospheric hybrid drives. IR suppressed sound dampened repulsorlift(s) are also included, but these are only engaged by the system when supplemental lift is required. The engine control system syncs up with the 'Redalur' and adjusts the vectoring down by the vectrals to be in sync with the maneuvering thrusters.
The whole system is controlled by a heuristically learning flight computer: While the computer that controls the functioning of the various components is pre-loaded with flight data for the specific craft that it is installed on, it is also heuristically learning, allowing it to adapt based on the pilot's flying style for any aftermarket modifications and changing environmental factors. Additionally pilot profiles can be stored for craft flown by multiple pilots.
The precision controls of the system allows extreme control of the craft even at high speeds, allowing for computer assisted precise and rapid mid-course vector changes almost at will, presuming that the craft possesses a maneuvering system that can keep up and the craft isn't weighed down by armor, weapons and/or other systems.
The system is just as stealthy and efficient as the Sarutaya that it replaces. It does however, suffer from many of the same faults. The great difficulty of picking up the craft's emissions or thermal signature from the engines doesn't translate to whatever craft or station that the engine is mounted into becoming a stealth craft. The host craft would still show up on sensors unless appropriately equipped. Additionally, utilizing the SLAM system will render all of the dampening features of the engine useless and will most certainly show the fighter up on scanners, just as is the case with the Sarutaya.
