- Small Sensor Profile: The Gar'buurenaar's sensor profile is far smaller than is typical for a ship of its tonnage thanks to the passive stealth features and electronic warfare suite. This allows it to potentially frustrate enemy targeting and detection efforts.
- "Ironstorm": The Gar'buurenaar wasn't named so for no reason. The heavy frigate packs a pair of UAC-01S 'Usenye' ultra-heavy accelerator cannons, eight MMOL-02C and MMOL-034C launchers, eight dual HETL-05S heavy energy torpedo launchers give the ship plenty of firepower to take on targets several times its size.
- Advanced Sensors and Communications: The Gar'buurenaar has a powerful sensor suite that when combined with it's Manda tactical battlenet module gives it considerable tracking and targeting capabilities, as well a notable ability to be able to analyze enemy craft to potentially attempt to ascertain any sort of weaknesses that it might have. Its advanced, encrypted communications systems allow it to stay in contact with friendly forces even in the face of heavy enemy jamming.
- Advanced Point-defense Suite: The Araniik emplacements on the Gar'buurenaar's tracking speed, accuracy, and the devastating weapon systems that it utilizes give the Gar'buurenaar considerable ability to counter enemy missiles, starfighters, sub-capital craft and even small corvettes.
- Fortress: The Gar'buurenaar packs all the same defensive measures as the Cabur-class Heavy Frigate but adds on an additional Caritr shield generator to protect the aft hemisphere while another protects the fore hemisphere. It is capable of taking a tremendous beating for a warship of its tonnage, and with both generators in fortress mode, this capability is only enhanced further.
- Self-Sufficient: The Gar'buurenaar's salvage and repair/support foundry modules as well as it's ka'ra'vhetin aquaponics module make the frigate almost entirely self-sufficient provided it can salvage the right materials from the battlefield. Regardless, they greatly increase the ship's endurance.
- Boom: There is a lot of ordnance stored board the Gar'buurenaar such that a penetrating shot has the potential to set off said ordnance, potentially causing a devastating chain reaction.
- Close-range Slug Fest: The Gar'buurenaar isn't built for close-range slug fests with other frigates or ships larger than it, and beyond hoping to drown an enemy in missiles it has no other weapon system that would allow it to effectively engage another vessel of similar or equal tonnage at close-range.
- Limited Aft Defenses: While the ship's aft facing is reasonably well-protected against starfighters and incoming ordnance, more nimble frigate-sized warships will be able to exploit the relative lack of weapons that can face rearward.
- 'Fortress' Mode: Only with all power from engines diverted to shields can the Caritr shield generator activate its 'fortress' mode.
- Full Power to Maneuvering Array: With full power to the maneuvering array, the shields do not have enough power to stay active.
- Friendly Fire: Careful use of the cluster bomb launcher is required so as to not friendly fire friendly starfighters, which can be difficult in particularly chaotic close quarters engagements.
"Why run blockades when you can just blow them to pieces?"
- Anonymous Strill Securities Gar'bureenaar captain.
Though the company has a considerable number of large capital grade vessels that could crack all but the most resolute planetary blockades, operations costs of those vessels dictate that they be used in only the most crucial contracts or desperate of situations. For situations when use of those vessels is deemed to uneconomical, Breshig War Forge developed the Gar'bureenaar. The Gar'bureenaar, however, superseded its intended role of low cost artillery frigate/siege frigate, and earned its fame during the evacuation from Breshig as a fantastic fleet fire support vessel, with coordinated barrages from groups of Gar'bureenaar heavy frigates and larger capital ships bringing down warships neither would have been able to really put a dent in on their own. - Anonymous Strill Securities Gar'bureenaar captain.
Though not packing nearly as many weapons as those massive behemoths, the Gar'bureenar has more than enough weapons systems to tear apart vessels its tonnage and heavier at range. The ship's main battery is a pair of UAC-01S 'Usen'ye' Ultra-heavy Accelerator cannons mounted in over under configuration along the vessel's hull. The massive accelerator canons give the ship tremendous punch that often serves as the ship's opening salvo before it lets off a hail of missiles from any of its staggering eight assault-grade MRP-01 mass-driver rocket pod launchers, eight assault-grade MMOL-03C launchers and eight MMOL-02C launchers. Backing up the ordnance launchers, however, are eight HETL-05S Heavy Energy Torpedo Launchers, whose extremely fast projectile speed, accuracy, range and deadly potential for damage on target make it almost perfect for use as a siege weapon. That said, the Gar'buurenaar isn't built for close-range slug fests with other frigates or ships larger than it. Beyond hoping to drown an enemy in missiles it has no other weapon system that would allow it to effectively engage another vessel of similar or equal tonnage at close-range. This is particularly the case with enemy frigates that are nimble enough to get into its aft arc where there are comparatively few weapon emplacements.
The warship's advanced targeting systems give it the ability to put its considerable weapons complement to extremely effective use. The ship's Manda tactical battlenet module greatly enhances its targeting and tracking capabilties but more notably also assists the crew by analyzing enemy tactics and potentially developing a counter for the crew. To be able to coordinate with other vessels outside of the Manda tactical battlenet, the ship possesses and advanced communications suite that allows it to stay in contact with friendly assets even in the face of heavy enemy jamming.
Its notable weakness insofar as close-quarters engagements with vessels of the same or heavy tonnage aside, the Gar'bureenaar has a number of defensive measures against starfighters, small corvettes, missiles and other ordnance. Nine starship-grade Araniik emplacements on the external hull and a single emplacement in the ship's aft hangar give it a staggering amount of accurate mass-driver and missile fire to employ against such threats, whilst also packing twelve PCBL-01 point-defense cluster bomb launchers for close-in defense against the aforementioned threats. Worse comes to worst, the singular G-02H Vuhyr'galaar heavy gunship housed aboard the frigate can be pressed into duty as a screening vessel against starfighter targets, particularly to watch vectors that the ship's own systems don't cover as easily or as well.
Given that the vessel is packing a lot of ordnance that a penetrating shot could very well detonate, the ship is very well protected for a ship of its size and tonnage. Like the company's other vessels, the ship features a lightweight but tough Stesr'gar frame, lined with thermal gel and Agrinium, finished with Stesr'gar hull plates and a Stygian-triprismatic polymer-Stesr'gar composite armor. A pair of Caritr shield generators, one covering the fore hemisphere and the other the aft, adds another layer of protection for the frigate as well as a means augment the vessel's weapons, propulsion and other systems with energy absorbed from enemy weapons fire. Countermeasure deployment is handled by a network of CL-02 launchers, which furthermore serves to augment the tactical options available to the crew. Rounding out the ship's defensive suite is Ori'gayusr electronic warfare suite, which when combined with the frigate's reflec coating can frustrate enemy targeting and detection at medium and long range, though are entirely insufficient from preventing detection altogether.
The ship features twelve Chekar boarding/drop pods, which can also ferry the ship's onboard tra'verd contingent to hostile vessels and back during boarding operations, but also houses on board a G-02H Vuhyr'galaar heavy gunship for ferrying personnel and cargo, especially to and from the surface given the vessel's inability to make planetary landings.
Keeping up with the theme of ship offering lower operating costs, and to increase the ship's endurance, the Gar'buurenaar is equipped with an aquaponics system as well as a salvage and repair/support foundry. The former allows the crew to grow their own food. The system is entirely self-sufficient once running, and can direct the crew to repair any damage or correct any other issues should any problems arise. The salvage module means that the crew doesn't have to let wait for salvage vessels and can make use of the salvage themselves. This has the additional benefit of removing clutter from the battlefield that could potentially allow hostiles or other ne'er-do-wells to avoid detection.
Like all of the capital warships produced by the company for use by Strill Securities or export, the Gar'buurenaar is designed with crew safety and comfort are a priority. The company's quarters are built with the explicit purpose of facilitating easy and comfortable sleep in armor with sleep circuitry and body conforming gel without compromising ship duty rosters or safety with the entire system synced with the duty roster and ship's security system. The company's security system features highly advanced sensors and a number of both lethal and non-lethal defensive to potentially ensure that should intruders bypass its numerous physical security measures they can be dealt with swiftly. To round out its security features, the Gar'buurenaar features a brig to be able to handle overflow from other ships or to handle temporary prisoner storage and transfer on the rare occasions it is operating on its own. The brig features eight 'standard' cells, two cells specifically made to hold dangerous force sensitives or other extremely dangerous non-force sensitives and a single interrogation room.
