- Three Fire Modes: The rifle possesses a semi-automatic, two-round burst and fully automatic fire modes.
- Integrated Targeting Computer with HUD Linking Capability: The weapon features an onboard targeting computer which has the ability to interface with HUD systems and provide provide compensation for various atmospheric conditions, and uses the HUD's binocular mode (if it has one, and is limited based on the weapon's own range when used in this mode) as a magnified optic. Heavy amounts of jamming doesn't affect this feature given proximity between the weapon and the user.
- Close Quarters Weapon: With a high rate of fire and light weight frame, the weapon is an extremely useful weapon to have in a close quarters battle.
- High Impact: Each densely packed, highly energized bolt detonates explosively on impact, making it capable of doing considerable concussive damage to both armored and unarmored targets. Additionally, this makes it useful for the purposes of suppressing targets as well.
- Resilient Frame: The frame is extremely resistant to most sources of battlefield damage, including EMP and Ion damage.
- EMP/Ion: Should the weapon be under the effects of particularly inclement atmospheric conditions or particularly powerful EMP/Ion weapons it is possible that its components will be fried.
- PDW: Designed as a personal defence weapon, the PB-02 lacks the ability to engage targets at longer ranges.
- Small Ammunition Capacity: The weapon has a small ammunition capacity when compared to most other equivalent blaster carbines.
The age old question of how to equip vehicle crews, pilots and other specialists faced Strill Securities once they grew to the size they currently are, and that question was answered by Breshig War Forge Consolidated in the form of the PB-02 Particle Beam PDW. Packing more punch than a blaster carbine in the same sized package, in its entirely stock form the weapon has an integrated targeting computer and a extendable/collapsible stock, making it not only easy to store but also convenient to use. Particle bolts tend to detonate on impact, making the weapon capable of doing considerable concussive damage to both armored and unarmored targets.
Being a PDW was both a blessing and a curse. With a range that about matched a typical blaster carbine, that meant that the PB-02 would never ever replace a traditional rifle weapon, and meant that many crewmembers and pilots still chose to pack a rifle if they could manage it into their survival kits. The amount of energy and gas used by each shot did also mean that the weapon's ammunition capacity was considerably smaller than most other equivalent blaster carbines. Of course, with there being a number of sensitive electronics in the weapon, particularly inclement atmospheric conditions or particularly powerful EMP/Ion weapons could permanently damage them.
Still, those who use the weapon see it as a better alternative to potentially losing a weapon when bailing out of a crippled tank or ejecting out of a fighter, given the ease of transport, and so the weapon sees considerable use among said personnel.
