- Integrated Targeting Computer with HUD Linking Capability: The weapon features an onboard targeting computer which has the ability to interface with HUD systems and provide provide compensation for various atmospheric conditions, and uses the HUD's binocular mode (if it has one, and is limited based on the weapon's own range when used in this mode) as a magnified optic. Heavy amounts of jamming doesn't affect this feature given proximity between the weapon and the user.
- Sidearm: With a light frame, high rate of fire and high potential damage per shot, the PBS-01 makes for an excellent sidearm.
- High Impact: Each densely packed, highly energized bolt detonates explosively on impact, making it capable of doing considerable concussive damage to both armored and unarmored targets. Additionally, this makes it useful for the purposes of suppressing targets as well.
- Resilient Frame: The frame is extremely resistant to most sources of battlefield damage, including EMP and Ion damage.
- EMP/Ion: Should the weapon be under the effects of particularly inclement atmospheric conditions or particularly powerful EMP/Ion weapons it is possible that its components will be fried.
- Sidearm: Given that it is designed as a sidearm rather than an offensive handgun, the weapon lacks the range to engage targets at longer ranges than most blaster pistols.

Designed as a sidearm for specialists, vehicle crew and pilots, the PBS-01 is an excellent mix of stopping power and rate of fire in a light, compact package. The PBS-01 packs more firepower than most equivalent blaster weapons of the same size, and boasts a higher practical rate of fire as well. The weapon's integrated targeting computer means that the user doesn't have to increase the weapon's weight by mounting optics. Particle bolts tend to detonate on impact, making the weapon capable of doing considerable concussive damage to both armored and unarmored targets.
The weapon's range however, precludes its use as anything but a sidearm. The amount of energy and gas used by each shot did also mean that the weapon's ammunition capacity was considerably smaller than most other equivalent blaster pistols. Of course, with there being a number of sensitive electronics in the weapon, particularly inclement atmospheric conditions or particularly powerful EMP/Ion weapons could permanently damage them. That said, the convenience of the weapon cannot be denied, and it makes it an almost perfect choice for those who cannot necessarily carry larger weapons into combat or those who require a sidearm that can be carried with a large and heavy primary weapon.
