TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Phased Pulse Cannon
  • Size: Large
  • Weight: Heavy
  • Ammunition Type: Gas canister.
  • Ammunition Capacity: Small. 96-round gas cartridge
  • Effective Range: Battlefield
  • Rate of Fire: Average
  • Stopping Power: Extreme
  • Recoil: High
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Integrated Barrel Cryo Cooling Lattice: The weapon's cryo cooling lattice keeps the weapon from overheating under normal firing. However, pushing the weapon past it's tolerances can cause the cooling system to lock the weapon's firing mechanism to perform a mandatory coolant flush.
STRENGTHS
  • Fast Projectile Speed: Each bolt or pulse of fusion plasma is incredibly fast, making avoiding or in the case of force users, blocking/deflecting the bolt difficult.
  • Armor-Piercing: Each bolt/pulse of fusion plasma is extremely hot. Hot enough to melt flesh and bones, as well as armor and natural carapace.
  • Sheer Destructive Power: A single bolt/pulse of fusion plasma fired from this weapon is capable of destroying a speeder bike.
WEAKNESSES
  • Heating Issues: Even with an integrated barrel cryo cooling lattice and a Dallorian alloy barrel, the weapon can get extremely hot. At this point, the weapon begins an emergency coolant flush and cannot fire for up to a minute as it begins to cool down. In the middle of a firefight, that can be a death sentence. The weapon carries enough spare coolant for a total of three flushes. Past this point, the weapon will damage itself and potentially ignite or detonate the volatile gas stored within it's gas cartridge.
  • Overkill: There is no wound with this weapon, most wounds inflicted are critical, and anything else will likely result in a kill. Not very useful if you'd like to leave people alive.
  • Volatile: Should the weapon take any damage, it would be wise not to use it any further, as the gas is volatile and could detonate. Likewise, reloading the gas cartridge requires care.
  • Maybe You Should Get a Bigger Gun: Heavily armored vehicles are virtually immune to this weapon, and medium armored vehicles are only vulnerable where their armor is thinnest.
DESCRIPTION
The PPC-03 was designed to give the Nuhaatyc-class Recon/Infantry Support Droid a means to deal with light and medium armored vehicles as well as individuals with an overly inflated opinion of themselves. However, in order to reduce the inherent volatility problems, the PPC-03 wasn't given a fully automatic fire setting, which given the power of a bolt from this weapon, is entirely unnecessary in any case. Though the PPC-03 does feature a faster fire rate than the PPC-01.

Like with most pulse weapons, the PPC-03's bolt/pulses are incredibly fast moving, making avoiding or in the case of force users blocking/deflecting the bolt difficult. Each bolt/pulse of fusion plasma is extremely hot, easily hot enough to potentially melt flesh and bones as well as armor and natural carapace. Unlike the standard pulse cannon, phased pulse cannons like the PPC-03 have enough power in a single bolt to be able to potentially destroy a speeder bike.

Being a weapon intended to be mounted on a droid, the PPC-03 doesn't feature a removable powerpack, instead is directly connected the Nuhaatyc's power supply, and features three spare gas canisters with which it can reload the PPC-03. Once it is out of gas canisters, the droid can only have more installed by a technician at a friendly forward operating base or somewhere else with access to maintenance tools.

Like the PPC-01, the PPC-03 also suffers from overheating issues. To alleviate these issues as far as possible, it features a Dallorian alloy barrel and a cryo cooling lattice. Like with the PPC-01, in order to prevent the barrel from melting, the weapon locks down firing controls and performs a coolant flush when it reaches critical temperature. Each weapon has enough coolant stored to perform five flushes, two more than the PPC-01. After that, the weapon will simply shut down for the safety of the operator. As with the pulse cannon, the phased pulse cannon also suffers from plasma medium gas volatility issues.
