- Model: Stesr'gar
- Modularity: Composite armor is possible.
- Production: Minor
- Material: Beskar, Carbon
- Classification: Alloy
- Weight: Light
- Color: Dull, dark grey.
- Resistances:
- Energy (And other Blaster type weapons): Very High
- Kinetic: Very High
- Lightsabers: Very High
- Other:
- Heat: High
- EMP/Ion: None
- Acid: Low
- Sonic: None
- Highly Resistant to Energy Weapons/Lightsabers: As with 'standard' Beskar, Stesr'gar is highly resistant to energy weapons as well as lightsabers, which even in the changing battlefields of the modern galaxy are still the notable majority of threats that a Mandalorian might be called on to face.
- Lightweight: Thanks to the the molecular structure of Carbon and the Verpine Ultramesh process make for a very light metal that retains the protective qualities of beskar.
- Composites: Lighter base alloy weight means that it now becomes more viable to make composite armor using a beskar based alloy, Stesr'gar in particular.
- Heat Resistant: Beskar, and Stesr'gar both have a high melting point, and as a result the material itself has a strong resistant to heat.
- Long Production Times: Increasing scale can only help so much, given the complicated production process of the alloy, Breshig War Forge Consolidated can only produce the armor to fulfill the needs of their own. Even then, replacement parts for products made with this aren't always sent out in a timely manner.
- Kinetic Force Partially Carries Through: As with 'regular' Beskar, a portion of the kinetic impact still carries through the armor to the wearer. A strong enough impact is more than enough to break some ribs or cause trauma.
- Acid: Unfortunately, acid still has a nasty habit of doing awful things to metal, and Beskar in particular apparently. Stesr'gar isn't exempted from this shortcoming.
- Alive Today, Dead Tomorrow: Stesr'gar is still beskar at the end of the day, and given the variety of anti-Beskar weapons being developed in the galaxy, something that might be stopped today would definitely penetrate or otherwise damage the armor beyond use or kill the wearer tomorrow.
What started out as research into methods to make Breshig War Forge Consolidated's Beskar supplies last longer yielded a project that would have netted considerable funds for the company had it not been so difficult to produce in quantities required for sale to other Mandalorians. However, Shuklaar was determined to not let such a product go to waste, and so ordered production to be ramped up such that the armor could be put to use for their own purposes. It has since been put to use in products designed for exclusive use by the company and its subsidiary, Strill Securities.
The armor started out as a joint-development project between Mandalorians and Verpine working on a revolutionary new 'light' armor project. Starting with high carbon Beskar, the resultant armor was light by Beskar standards without sacrificing protection even before the Verpine got to work on it. Utilizing their patented ultramesh technology that saw the production of medium armor that was as protective as heavy armor, the Verpine engineers reduced the armor's weight without compromising on protection, to the point where the usually heavy armor was no heavier than most other armors in use by others in the galaxy.
There was however, a massive problem. Attempts to alloy this with other materials were less than ideal. The molecular structure didn't allow for bonding with other metals easily, creating a weak bond that was entirely unsuitable. This also meant that the armor couldn't be molecularly bonded to hull plating like more traditional Beskar alloys. This also meant that to address Beskar's natural shortcomings, they had to turn to composites. While the Mandalorian members were convinced that they had something here, they invited Shuklaar to see what they'd managed to produce, though the Verpine weren't quite so sure as their Mandalorian colleagues.
Of course, Shuklaar was quite pleased, despite the product's very obvious shortcomings, which led to the team dubbing the alloy 'Stesr'gar', which directly translates into basic as 'feather iron'. When civil war broke out on Manda'yaim, production slowed to a halt as it was moved from planetary forges to mobile shipborne forges, all as part of Shuklaar's plan to be able to relocate their production facilities should they ever have to evacuate Breshig. By the time of the Sith invasion, production had just about restarted, however had halted once more with the evacuation. It's unlikely production will restart in a meaningful capacity without the migrant ships of Breshig War Forge Consolidated finding a place to stop for an extended period of time rather than hopping constantly between friendly ports.
