SPECIAL FEATURES
- Targeting Mode(s):
- Ship-to-ship: Ship-to-ship targeting mode covers engaging of targets in space by a launch platform in space.
- Air-to-ground: Air-to-ground targeting mode covers engaging of targets on the ground by airborne launch platforms.
- Guidance Mode(s):
- Active Homing:
- Pre-launch: The missile downloads sensor data, targeting and tracking information of the target(s) as well as the IFF codes of all friendly assets in the area from the launch platform before launching. At this stage, the operator can specify how many submunitions are to be used per target. If none are specified, the missile will try to equally divide its submunitions based on how many targets were locked by the operator.
- Launch: The missile acquires a sensor lock on target and begins accelerating toward the target(s).
- Midcourse: Using active sensor and scanner data from its own sensors, the missile determines whether to set its submunitions to pursue the target and detonate on impact or in proximity of the target or to attempt to intercept the target's path of motion and then detonate on impact or in proximity. At this stage, the missile can switch to Home on Jam mode if the amount of interference is too high such that it loses its original target. If there is no interference yet the missile has lost track of its target, the missile will revert to Inertial Delayed Active Guidance. The presence of hostile point-defense is also checked for, determining what if any terminal phase maneuvering the submunitions carry out.
- Terminal: The missile slows its speed and deploys its submunitions that then enter a sustained high energy acceleration toward the target(s), detonating either on impact or in proximity depending on what approach and if any terminal maneuvering was selected by the missile during the midcourse phase. The missile stays active, providing additional updated sensor, scanner and tracking data to its submunitions. Once all the submunitions have either self-destructed or successfully engaged targets, the missile will self-destruct.
- Control Guidance:
- Pre-launch: The missile downloads sensor data, targeting and tracking information of the target(s) as well as the IFF codes of all friendly assets in the area from the launch platform before launching.
- Midcourse: The missile receives updated targeting and tracking information from the launching platform via an encrypted frequency hopping comms link. The missile determines whether to pursue the target and detonate on impact or in proximity of the target or to attempt to intercept the target's path of motion. Detonation mode and exact flight path can still be programmed by the launching platform, however. The presence of hostile point-defense is also checked for by the missile's sensors, determining what if any terminal phase maneuvering the missile's submunitions carry out, though the launch platform can change this at any point during the midcourse phase. If at any point in the midcourse phase the missile loses communications with the launch platform, it reverts to home on jam guidance if it detects electronic interference or inertial delayed active guidance if it does not.
- Waypoint Search and Destroy:
- Pre-launch: The missile downloads the waypoints and a sensor map of the area of the flight path charted out by the set of waypoints.
- Midcourse: The missile follows the waypoints using its own sensors to path find.
- Terminal:
- The missile attempts to locate a hostile target. Following acquisition of said target, the missile analyzes the area to ascertain what target it could most effectively engage.
- If the target(s) resolve as a grouping of sub capital craft, the missile determines how many submunitions to assign to each target based on shield and apparent hull strength as well as countermeasures.
- If the target(s) resolve as a capital craft, the missile determines what subcomponents to target, how many submunitions to assign to each target based on the ship's shield and apparent hull strength and what if any terminal phase maneuvering is carried out by its submunitions in response to any point defense systems.
- If enough interference prevents acquisition of said targets, the missile instead switches to home on jam targeting.
- The missile itself then slows its speed and deploys its submunitions that then enter a sustained high energy acceleration toward the target(s), detonating either on impact or in proximity depending on what approach and if any terminal maneuvering was selected by the missile.
- Home on Jam: If the missile switches to home on jam targeting it will then identify the strongest source of electronic interference that does not have a friendly IFF and lock onto it. It will then assess the target and engage it with its submunitions.
- Inertial Delayed Active Guidance: Utilizing a laser gyroscope system to calculate distance travelled, the missile checks it against the previously computed distance to target. Alternatively, the missile follows inertial guidance till it can detect the target with its own scanners and sensors. At this point, it switches to active homing mode. This is useful for engaging targets at the end of the missile's range band, where its sensors, scanners and tracking systems may not be accurate enough to maintain a good lock and track.
- Salvo Mode: When fired in Active Homing or Waypoint Search and Destroy mode or if the missile switches to home on jam and salvo mode is enabled, a 'predesignated' missile will network with the other missiles launched to share data for a better sensor picture and will additionally assess the targets in the area and assign targeting including of subcomponents. Alternatively, this missile can relay this information back to the launch platform if in range, and can receive targeting priority from it. The coordinating missile will then coordinate launching of submunitions to best overwhelm the targets defenses to successfully engage said target. If the predesignated missile is destroyed, the missile will
- Active Homing:
- Launch Mode(s):
- Standard Launch: If not loaded into a mass-driver missile launcher, the missile can still be launched normally.
- Hot: The container's gasses are vented and the missile's engines are activated straight away following the pre-launch sequence.
- Cold: The missile is cold launched from it's container out of the tube using gas expansion before the missile's engines are activated.
- Magnetically Accelerated Launch:
- Hot: The missile is magnetically accelerated out of the launch tube and then immediately activates its engines.
- Cold: The missile relies on initial launch velocity from the magnetic launch system to close the distance during the launch and mid course phase before deploying its submunitions in the terminal phase.
- Standard Launch: If not loaded into a mass-driver missile launcher, the missile can still be launched normally.
- Detonation Mode - Missile: Once all the submunitions have either self-destructed or successfully engaged targets, the missile will self-destruct. This detonation is too weak to cause any real damage to anything near the missile when this occurs.
- Detonation Mode(s) - Submunitions:
- Airburst: The missile detonates above the target for a more even effect on target whilst also being theoretically less impeded by obstacles.
- Proximity: The missile detonates while the target is in the missile's blast radius.
- Impact: The submunition detonates on impact.
- Post Terminal Self-destruct: If for whatever reason the submunition does not detonate once the terminal phase is complete, it will detonate automatically at that point.
- Sensor, Scanner and Tracking Suite (Missile): The missile creates a composite sensor picture by cross checking data from all of its sensors when in guidance modes where it actively uses the to acquire/track targets.
- Dedicated Energy Receptor
- Electro Photoreceptor
- Long-range Heat Detector
- Long-range Energy Scanner
- Magnetic Signature Sensor
- Gravity-wave Anomaly Tracker
- Silhouette Signature Tracking
- Countermeasures Compensation Computer: The C3 analyzes any countermeasures the target deploys, such as jamming, "dummy" drones, flares or chaff, and predicts the target's path. The C3 continues to make minor adjustments up to the microsecond before the missile impacts.
- Sensor, Scanner and Tracking Suite (Submunition): The submunition creates a composite sensor picture by cross checking data from all of its sensors as well as data updates it receives from its launching missile.
- Propulsion and Maneuvering:
- TibannaX burning IR suppressed thrust trace dampened vectral equipped ion-atmospheric hybrid drive w/ scramjet booster
- Etheric rudder(s)
- Security:
- Tamper Detection: Any attempt to reprogram the missile including through the use of Mechu Deru and similar abilities will result in the missile triggering a micro-ion charge to fry its own circuits.
- Defenses (Missile):
- Combat De-ionizer
- Dedicated Energy Receptor Projector: The missile's DERP is only active during the midcourse phase and only affects scanners or targeting systems actively trying to scan or target the missile.
- Full-spectrum Distortion Projector: The missile's FDP is only active during the terminal phase and is limited to interfering with short-range targeting attempts.
- Defenses (Missile):
- Communications Systems (Missile):
- Encryption/Decryption Suite
- Location Spoofing/Scrambling:
- Communications Suite: When connected to compatible systems, the communication suite is an auto-negotiating, frequency hopping system with a self-modulating encryption key, making it extremely resistant to jamming and interception. The comm-lasers can mimic this by rapidly shifting their broadcast spectrum.

STRENGTHS
- Jammer/Countermeasure Resistant: The missile and its submunitions use a composite sensor picture generated by cross checking data from its array of advanced sensors, scanners and tracking systems. This, combined with the countermeasures compensation computer on the missile itself drastically reduces vulnerability to jammers and countermeasures.
- Missile Deactivation Transmitter Immune: Once armed and active, there is no way to shut off the missile, which in turn arms its submunitions. They in the same manner cannot be disarmed once armed. Missile deactivation transmitters therefore cannot shut off the missile or its submunitions once it has been launched.
- Home on Jam: While certainly highly resistant to jamming, these missiles and their submunitions are certainly are not immune to jamming. The missile possesses a home on jam function that locks onto the strongest source of electronic interference that does not bare a friendly IFF signature.
- Low Profile: With a reflec laced fiberplast exterior, etheric rudders and an IR suppressed thrust trace dampened vectral-equipped ion-atmospheric hybrid drive burning TibannaX, the missile and its submunitions have a very low sensor signature, especially when performing a magnetically accelerated cold launch.
- Excellent Sensors, Scanners and Tracking: The missile and its submunitions possesses a wide variety of sensors, scanners and tracking systems, giving it a fantastic ability to detect and track targets.
- Fast, Nimble and Deadly: The Tbarsr and its submunitions are extremely fast and nimble, easily able to keep up with, track and engage the fastest and most agile airspeeders, repulsorcraft, starfighters, freighters, transports and gunships.
- Modular Warhead: The submunitions can be fitted with an ion warhead, baradium warhead or a tandem baradium warhead. This operation is simple enough to be carried out by hangar deck crews or by sufficiently equipped personnel at more makeshift locations.
- Resilient: The missile and its submunitions' frame allows it to weather light point-defense fire and direct-attack countermeasures.
- Electronic Warfare Suite: This missile is equipped with a dedicated energy receptor projector and a a full-spectrum distortion projector capable of absorbing and blocking incoming long-range sensor pings and blocking scanners and targeting computers by using broadband transmissions to interfere with sensors, making the missile and its submunitions very difficult to detect when taking its passive stealth measures into account.
WEAKNESSES
- Not Stealth: Though possessing an extraordinarily small sensor profile for something of its size, the missile is in fact entirely detectable by particularly advanced military grade sensor suites, especially those that cross check data from different sensor and scanner systems such as the missile's own.
- Still Outnumbered: Despite their increased lethality, the missile still only contains four submunitions rather than the industry standard of six due to the size and weight of the submunitions.
- Size Limitations: The missile's size and weight limit how many can be carried, especially by smaller launch platforms such as air speeders and starfighters.
- Home on Jam: While the missiles home on jam capability does give it the capability to not be rendered useless by such systems, it can cause the missile to potentially lose track of its original target, such as in the case that the source of that jamming stems from another target entirely.
- Volatile (Baradium Warhead): If it takes enough damage to sympathetically detonate the warhead inside the launch tube the missile is likely not only detonate spectacularly, but likely set off other ordnance as well.
- Sensor Range (Control Guidance mode): The missile's range is very much affected by the range and resolution of the sensor suite of the launch platform.
- Not Enough Boom (Standard variant): Unless fired at subcomponents, these missiles lack the sufficient energy to cause damage to larger capital ships.
DESCRIPTION
"Some arueti once said that quantity is a quality of its own. Time to even the odds."
- Breshig War Forge Consolidated CEO, Shuklaar Kyrdol
The Tbarsr was developed to even the odds between often outnumbered Strill Securities forces and more often than not lesser protected enemy forces. When Strill Securities began running into ERA equipped armored ground vehicles that in fact they were still outnumbered to a considerable degree by, Breshig developed a tandem warhead version of the missile as they rolled out an upgraded version of the missile using the new missile framework. These upgrades would not have been possible without the valuable feedback from Strill Securities forces both during and following the company's contract with the CIS.
Just as with the other missiles using the new framework the Tbarsr's active homing mode is a true fire and forget mode. The missile tracks its assigned targets with nigh on unerring accuracy before deploying its submunitions which in turn pursue their targets with the same lethal accuracy. Should the missile or any of its submunitions lose their lock on a target due to electronic interference, they will instead reacquire a lock on the source of said interference, provided it does not bear a friendly IFF and will instead track and engage that target.
As packed with advanced sensors, scanners and tracking systems as the new missile framework is, it still cannot compete with an advanced starship-mounted military-grade sensor array. The new missile framework features a control guidance mode for the missile, wherein the missile receives updated targeting and tracking information from the launching platform midcourse via an encrypted frequency hopping comms link. This allows the missile and as a result, its submunitions, to acquire and track targets that it would not normally be able to, provided of course that its launch platform can.
There are cases however where the launch platform does not have sensor coverage of a particular sector of the grid. The new framework removes the necessity of having to perform manned or unmanned reconnaissance or even having to rely on more esoteric means. In waypoint search and destroy mode, the missile can be tasked to follow waypoints to said location and then acquire, track and engage targets in said location.
Conversely, when engaging targets at the edge of the missile's effective range, it can be fired in inertial delayed active guidance mode. The missile follows inertial guidance till it reaches a precomputed distance based on targeting data from the launch platform or until it detects a target with its own systems, at which point it switches to active guidance mode. This is useful for engaging targets at the end of the missile's range band, where its sensors, scanners and tracking systems may not be accurate enough to maintain a good lock and track.
The missile and its submunitions have a lot of advanced hardware to back up their advanced programming. The sensor, sensor and tracking suite features a number of advanced systems including but not limited to a gravity wave anomaly tracker, silhouette signature tracker and a countermeasures compensation computer. The frame is made from Duranium and features reinforced Duraplast reinforcements and a combat de-ionizer, making it notably resilient for a missile to incoming damage from point-defense weapons and direct-attack countermeasures.
The entire frame however is covered in reflec laced fiberplast. This combined with the missile's TibannaX burning IR suppressed thrust trace dampened vectral equipped ion-atmospheric hybrid drive and etheric rudders gives the missile a very small sensor signature. Though possessing an extraordinarily small sensor profile for something of its size, the missile and its submunitinos are in fact entirely detectable by particularly advanced military grade sensor suites, especially those that cross check data from different sensor and scanner systems such as the missile's own.
This stealthy powerplant gives the missile the speed and maneuverability to effectively engage the fastest and most agile airspeeders, repulsorcraft, starfighters, freighters, transports and gunships. The standard variant of the missile's submunitions lack the punch to be able to do any real damage to larger capital ships such as Star Destroyer and large cruiser sized warships unless targeting exposed or semi-exposed subcomponents on aforementioned classes of vessels.
