• Material: Rubber recoil pad, Duranium frame, dallorian alloy coated barrel, reinforced duraplast plating, combat de-ionizer and verpine shatter weapon components.

TECHNICAL FEATURES​

• Ammunition Capacity: Average. 5+1 cannisters in a non-detachable tubular magazine.
• Effective Range: 75m.

SPECIAL FEATURES​

• Laser Tracking System: The weapon features a laser tracking system that tags targets with an electronic homing signature.
• Target Tracking Repulsor Canister/Sabot: The cannister/sabot follows the electronic homing signature of tagged targets to track and follow the target's movements, and make course corrections in flight. Upon reaching three meters, or a pre-designated distance from the target, the canister releases its payload in either an area of effect or directed explosion. In the case of the sabot, it will instead just continue on toward the target.
• Variety of Ammunition: Breshig War Forge Consolidated produces a variety of ammunition for the weapon:
  
  • Anti-Personnel Flechette Canister: Filled with 12 millimeter long depleted baradium micro-flechettes.
  • Anti-Personnel Pellet Canister: Filled with depleted baradium pellets.
  • Anti-Armor Sabot: A 11 centimeter long tunqstoid flechette fitted with micro repulsors.
• Integrated Targeting Computer with HUD Linking Capability: The weapon features onboard targeting computer which has the ability to interface with HUD systems and provide provide compensation for various atmospheric conditions, and uses the HUD's binocular mode (if it has one, and is limited based on the weapon's own range when used in this mode) as a magnified optic. Heavy amounts of jamming doesn't affect this feature given proximity between the weapon and the user.
• Detachable Folding Stock.

STRENGTHS​

• Target Tracking: The weapon's high velocity ammunition tracks targets and so there's a far lower chance of missing.
• Armor-Piercing: The rounds fired by this weapon have a higher chance of penetrating armor and causing significant damage than traditional slugthrowers.
• Whisper Quiet: Like all Verpine Shatter weapons, the FL-01 Verpine Shatter Flechette Launcher is whisper quiet throughout the round's trajectory. Only a very faint whistle may be heard in the event of a near miss.
• Armor Bane (Anti-Armor Sabot): The high power of the rounds, it's impressive propensity for armor penetration, high projectile velocity and excellent range make the weapon excellent for use in neutralizing armored vehicles, though it can struggle against heavily armored vehicles if not aimed correctly.

WEAKNESSES​

• EMP/Ion Vulnerability: Despite the attempt to protect the weapon's sensitive electronics, a powerful enough EMP/Ion weapon will fry the acceleration coils and render the weapon useless.
• Repulsor Jammer: Should a repulsorlift jammer be in play, while the weapon will still be able to fire, the canisters/sabots will not be able to track their targets.
• Off-balance: The additional weight of an underbarrel attached weapon could upset the balance of the weapon that it is mounted to.

Designed to put extra lethality and versatility into the hands of its user, particularly during the chaos of close quarters firefights, the UFL-01 brings the lethality and accuracy of a flechette launcher to the underbarrel attached weapon form factor. The UFL-01 was developed specifically at the behest of Strill Securities, who wanted a more lethal replacement for their underbarrel scatterguns. The UFL-01's lethality, accuracy and the fact that it was whisper quiet made it very popular among Strill troops, and it quickly replaced the aforementioned underbarrel scatterguns in the company's armories and its table of organization and equipment. ​

Despite the attempt to protect the weapon's sensitive electronics, a powerful enough EMP/Ion weapon will fry the acceleration coils and render the weapon useless. Another issue with the weapon lies with its ammunition. Should a repulsorlift jammer be in play, while the weapon will still be able to fire, the canisters/sabots will not be able to track their targets. The other comes from its form factor and intended manner of use. The additional weight of an underbarrel attached weapon could potentially upset the balance of the weapon that it is mounted to. All said and done, however, most view these flaws as acceptable tradeoffs for the benefits offered by the weapon system. ​
