BIOGRAPHY:
Started life as a pirate. Got arrested as a young hatchling by the Galactic Republic and got a choice to join the army or go to jail. 25 years later he was a general when the Galactic Alliance collapsed. Twenty-five years had turned the besalisk into a ardent republican with an absolutely intolerant view of any form of authoritarian government. Unwilling to retreat, he kept his rank, kept his ship, and kept the hearts and adoration of the soldiers under his command, and he decided to keep fighting. Gathering what ships and fighters he could, he made alliances with other like-minded groups (Partisans, resistance cells, planetary security forces, etc) and built a network across former Alliance and First Order space, a roving paramilitary formed to combat the specter of alien hordes, Imperial Warlords, Rogue Sith, and other forms of oppression.
They have no pretensions of being a government, they exist to defend those who need strength, to be a weapon the hands of those without any, and to fight for those whom no one else can. They call themselves 'The Defense.'
Mordred is surprisingly charming monster of an alien at 7 feet tall, who has a cheerfully disarming air. He adores those who serve under him and hates spending lives needlessly, but he has also lived long enough to understand the importance of completing the objective. He is also somewhat impulsive and lacks any form of restraint when it comes to taking action. Essentially, he is perhaps overfond of the concept of a preemptive strike, and would rather ask for forgiveness than ask for permission.
The cost of this has taken its toll, however, and in private he is dour and bitter, with little hope left for any of the nascent causes or would be rebel movements that fight back against the dark. A cynic and atheist, he believes the galaxy would be better off without either the Jedi or the Sith (though its worth noting he does not believe them equivalently bad) and his distrust for any religious or philosophical movement has hampered things for The Defense in the past.
He is extraordinarily well read on tactics and strategy, is an excellent personal combatant (reach and strength and extra karking arms are a big advantage up close) and is a consummate fleet commander as well as a brilliant general. At the end of the day Mordred (also known as 'Mort' among good friends) is fighting for his troops, and to be as big a pain in the ass for the would be tyrants of the galaxy as possible. This is his purpose, as much as he can make it.
