- Made of Class-A Battleweave, granting it immense resistance to both energy and physical compromise.
- There are separate plates on an inner layer between two sheets of Battleweave located on the back, arms, sides and front of the coat, missing on the shoulders to offer flexibility. These small plates take the force since, as durable as Battleweave is, it has no structure and can't protect Deryn from blunt impacts like the plates can, effectively diffusing kinetic energy travelling inwards.
- Aural Dampeners are fitted to make sure the plates do not sing "Jingle Jangle Jingle". This also doubles to silent him over all as his heavy weight and metal boots can actually make a lot of sounds.
- When combined with the sheer defensive abilities of his power-armor, Deryn becomes incredibly durable to most conventional damage. In areas where the coat has its plates, vibroblades, energy weapons, blunt force, slugthrowers, and the like, will do little damage, but with his armor on beneath it, the damage would become near negligible unless these are the extremes of weaponry.
- No protection against Lightsabers whatsoever.
- There are open portions of the body made for maneuverability, and because Deryn thought the coat would look cooler. The front chest area is completely open, so only the armor beneath can protect him - though that the armor beneath is already rather tough to crack.
Deryn likes his coats very much. Perhaps its the child inside him speaking - again - but they are just so damn cool. When he began to develop battlewear for his line, he decided to upgrade his own coat.
