Bringing Something New

Serian Loria

In the shadows, at the fringe
After the return of his adopted daughter Serian had set about adding further security to his home. He understood that such couldn’t have protected her from the events that happened, but it could protect in other ways. The sight of a few armed men outside the ship as it landed wasn’t unexpected, even if they had been cleared before they arrived it was simply a necessary precaution. He dismissed them as he walked down the walkway, it reminded him some of how the Sun Guard had protected him and idly toyed with that memory. He looked over his shoulder wondering if Raien too would recall it.

During the trip he had made himself scarce, both to his brother and to his apprentice. Frankly it was a lot to digest and get used to, he didn’t like disruptions to his life. While it was hardly their fault, it still took him time to think it over and simply get used to the presence of others. It was bad enough to find his old friend back from the dead, but on the heels of that gaining a student? Moreover the kind of student he’d been gifted with. As he walked into the sun he drew up the hood of his cloak, more than once he thought of getting shades for his eyes, but they were irksome.

He stood waiting for the younger man and his brother, not because he thought they would get lost, but merely to be polite. His home lay across from them, the large house partially hidden by trees. He had bought up a lot of land around his property, almost all of it completely untamed. From the road outside the wall one could see nothing of his home, even if you were able to stand on the walls. All of it perched on the top of a cliff, there were sheer walls on either side, then a tall strong wall warding the way in. There was access to the ocean on one side, only one road going in or out. His security was housed on the landing field, right above the hangar.

It was more than he had ever owned in the past, but then he hadn’t had as much freedom as he did now either. In the back of the property was a thick forest, in its heart held the training grounds he’d built. Not that he feared anyone seeing, it was just that he appreciated being surrounded by nature. He had let his paramour know of his return, but he wondered if she was here or if she had gone to her own home. Frankly the prospect of his past meeting his present made him oddly anxious, but he ignored it. There wasn’t anything he could do about it and he wasn’t going to even consider trying to hide it. It would have spoke that he was ashamed of who he had been then, who he was now, which wasn’t true. Only someone who truly had something to fear hid such things, at least that was how he saw it.

He’d been thinking long and hard about how he would start Yuroic’s training. He decided to see if his partner would consent to him using the bracelet she had used on him. The young fool was too eager to use his power and hadn’t the sense to respect it. Better to send it to sleep for now till he learned and there was plenty he could learn before he ever got to taste the Force again. He had decided that he would have to curb the man’s arrogance and to do that he would have to force him into a circumstance that he would probably try rebelling against. His next set of problems stemmed from Raien, in truth he wondered just what he was up to.

Webs within webs, this was how he’d worked and he wondered just what web he was going to try spinning. While he trusted him, he didn’t trust him blindly and knew that in these circumstances he would have to tread carefully with the Echani. Out of the confined space of the ship he’d be able to find true solitude to think better. There was much to consider, things that he hadn’t been able to really pick apart simply because being on a ship was a distraction. It felt good to have his feet on solid ground, he was connected better surrounded by life instead of the emptiness of space. It was a pity [member="Abel Denko"] wasn’t with him, the man would have been invaluable in dealing with his newest student. At the very least he would have been the perfect person to set as a counter, but it hadn’t been meant to be.

What the younger man needed was someone on equal footing to be perfect competition. Someone who he could task as doing his best to hinder him, he needed that kind of pressure. The first thing he planned on doing however was taking a shower and getting proper rest, he didn’t sleep hardly and he was incredibly tired. He might not be able to do it immediately, but it would be accomplished eventually.

He had spent an unusual trip on the way to a planet, he was dragged into a world that he was unknown of, it was a harsher world than he had predicted. The Force seemed to be a life that required dedication, patience and several attributes that he seemed to unwillingly cling onto. He wandered down the landing ramp, his hand stroked the roof of the ship as he looked at the planet he arrived on. His new home seemed to be very different from the life he had lived on Nar Shaddaa, he would have to adjust to the quietness and serenity that this new home would provide him. He watched as he saw his Master's cautious nature as he approached what appeared to Yuroic a mansion of a house, something much bigger than he was use to, he suddenly felt very small in the world. Something he hadn't felt in a few years.

He stepped onto the ground as he looked up to the sky and stared at clouds and the sun before he looked to the Echani who walked down onto the ground. He slipped the hood of his cloak off his face, revealing his clean shaven face as he steps carefully taking in the sounds and wildlife. Yuroic hid his weapons from view and licked his lips as he stared out seeing that his Master was calling to his lover, he was curious to see the woman that his Master had chosen to spend his life with. He hadn't thought much on his training but he could feel his fingers tingle with anticipation as he grew eager to learn more in the Force and in combat, he wanted to become the very best he could become. He knew that his training was going to be arduous and hard work as his reluctance to abandon others was still imprinted in his mind and he could tell that his Master found his skills to be lacking and his use of the Force to be near abusive. He sighed as he looked at the planet and thought on the events of the next few years.

The Sith Princess could sense several presences approaching, including that of Serian. At present, she was sitting comfortably, unconcerned with the arrivals. She did however alert Serian's loyal servants of his return and suggested that they anticipate their master's needs after a long journey. With them occupied and preparing for guests, Crystal merely amused herself. At times it was difficult for the four hundred and fifty year old Sith to sit around idle, but as there were no pressing matters to attend to, she could relax and wait to be addressed directly.

Serian's guests would hopefully never learn what Crystal was capable of. The Sith was especially gifted with telepathy, and easily manipulated the minds of others. The experience was not especially pleasant if she was unwelcome. Four hundred and fifty years of experience manipulating and exploring the Force had kept her busy enough, let alone ruling in Tapani for four hundred years and raising five generations of her descendants. Needless to say, the woman hadn't been sitting around idle and this was a rare moment of solitude for her.

There was ofcourse only one true danger within the house and everyone knew it FULLY WELL! It was the one youngest one of the entire house! She came crawling through the outside of the house back into the area where the rest had been and said, "Hi there" She giggled after that and turned onto her belly. The constant feeling and the higher amount of security around the house kept her well and safe. She didn't yet have the right mindset in order to know if she was the cause that made Serian kept on being awake for night in and out.

It had seemed though that she was today not only with Serian but also by the Sith Princess and someone new?! She crawled over towards the new guy and looked at him for a moment. She tapped the ground before standing up. "How are you?" She had asked.

Raising from his meditations, Darth Surtr disembarked the ship’s ramp, Rakattan fire runes burning the language he had lived his life in, countless battles beyond remembering, tales of woe and suffering bred into the bones of the Sith Code he lived daily. To those with a sense for it, the Sith carried the same wounds on his body, each one a trophy and a new purpose to drive him. Basic black armor clad his form, his mask fitted into place, artificial red glow matched the robes. Heavy metal boots carved Sith certainty into the ground by their nature, with small chunks of earth ripped up.

He was here for one reason, and one reason only, to see what had corrupted the once powerful Serian Loria’s mind, who had betrayed him and who had tainted him, they would be eradicated. The brothers had studied much, achieved much together and were as brothers in every way that mattered. The last bond of family or the past that had survived, the crystal sleep of [member="Saeria Aldan-Keth"] still unknown to him. If his brother could be saved, Darth Surtr would be the one to do so. Sith Pride? That didn’t even begin to sum it up.

“Brother.” Surtr nodded his head slowly, laying eyes on the building, for all its grandeur, he didn't see things from appearance he saw them from purpose potential. There were force signatures of purpose, and those without, the fuel and those who burned it, everything else was of no importance.

[member="Serena Constatine"], revealing one so young to Raien Keth? Had the galaxy learned nothing? His weighty stare, crushed silver eyes and scarred face, obscured by his mask, regarded Serena for a long moment, before raising his vision. What did he really see here in the "young one."

OOC: [member="Raien Keth"] [member="Serena Constatine"] @Crystal @Yuroic Xeraic | Rai/Serena you guys do realize that we are still at the landing zone right and not inside the house yet? So yeah...

The archivist’s head turned slightly to look at his brother who had moved to stand beside him, he knew his apprentice was behind them. He looked back at the house and simply walked towards it, heading for a path. A tendril of thought would reach out to his paramour. I ended up finding a couple unexpected things. One, a man from my past who is my brother and the other, a rather foolish child that I’ve taken as my apprentice. The boy needs to have a rather...different sort of education before I even touch his force training. I want to talk to you about that later, its the other that concerns me more.

She’d feel the undercurrent to his mind-voice, the concern and anxiety. As much as I trust him, I also don’t trust his judgement. Be on guard around him, I wouldn’t put it past him to test you simply out of seeing if he can prove if you are worthy of my trust or affection. The force only knows what else, but he needs help in other ways as well. My aim is to take him as my apprentice and hopefully correct the eroding foundation he stands on before there is nothing left and I need to put him down. Warn the rest of the household, though I trust that Endron will take one look at him and take care of that himself. I leave how you deal with it up to you, I know you can handle yourself.

The idea of killing the man made his heart ache, but his resolve wouldn’t crumble if in the end he had no choice. One of the reasons he’d taken the old man on and his family was simply because of their devotion to those that took them on. He’d seen it in the old man’s eyes the moment he had interviewed him and, later, he saw the same out of his daughter and her husband. What also made them invaluable to him was the fact that what he was, what he could do, what he would do, didn’t intimidate them. On many occasion the three had often showed that they could and would stand up to him if they thought he was being unreasonable or foolish.

Usually only in matters of his health and wellbeing, everything else they didn’t question. One can have silence without loyalty, acceptance without trust, devotion without any true ties at all. However he wasn’t a person who fostered that, something about him encouraged these things in others, a rare talent. He was sure it wouldn’t surprise the Echani to see it once again, even if it was in a different set of people.

The landing area was hidden by a thick set of trees. They lined the whole area, blocking a good chunk of the property from sight. Yuroic might not see it, but Raien would, it was set in such a way that any defenders taking cover would be well sheltered. The security was set up to be subtle, a ruse, anyone of normal means planning to poke his property would lose body parts. He had laid the groundwork, but it wouldn’t be hard to replace what he had with others, should he find better.

Once they cleared the trees one would see the simple yet elegant two story structure. There was a road that led to the front of the house, to the landing area and then out. The path they were taking took them along the back of the house, so they would see the gardens, the orchards and, the forest at the far back. They could even hear the ocean they would have seen as they landed, though not the path that led to it. Serian disliked extreme climates and the ocean gave plenty of cool without it ever getting too cold. Above all else he hated snow, something he didn’t have to worry about.
